Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Overall,
Luke 5refers to The Altar of Burnt Offerings. Now, it refers to the cross of Christ or Christ's sacrifice. It is the power of God to forgive our sins and heal the disease.
Luke 5:17-26
5:17. Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
5:18. Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him.
5:19. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus.
5:20. When He saw their faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you."
5:21. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
5:22. But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
5:23. "Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, 'Rise up and walk’?
5:24. "But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins" ––He said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."
5:25. Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
5:26. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen strange things today!"The spiritual meanings of being paralyzed are as follows:
- Sin of uncleanness in the marriage(on a bed), those are as follows:
- Fall into sin before marriage.
- Having affair, marrying after divorce.
- Children do not obey parents.
- Being Inactive, which means being unfaithful, ones do not want and cannot serve and minister God.
- There is no way out and future, that his life fails and perishes forever.
Spiritual paralytic must be carried and brought to Jesus. It means he is brought to the right service, namely service that prioritizes true teaching Word.
It needs the bearers, those are people who testify to bring people to right service.
There are three groups in the right service:
- Group of the crowd that becomes stumbling-block.
Luke 5:19
5:19. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus.
The crowd prevents the paralytic to enter. It is the group of common Christian.
The crowd becomes stumbling-block because they minister to look for physical things only, not Jesus.
We have to watch too that we do not stumble in our ministry, moreover in ourselves because of hard and irritable heart.
- Group of Pharisees and teachers of the law.
Luke 5:17, 21
5:17. Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the lawsitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
5:21. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
The teachers of the law hear the Word, but they stumble to true teaching Word, namely Jesus Himself, because they often criticize true teaching Word that is out of human's logic.
- Group of paralytic.
Group of paralytic believes in the Word that they want to try to come to Jesuseven being hindered
The process is as follows:
- Hearing teaching Word in the anointing of Holy Spirit that we can earnestly hear in need.
- To understand the true teaching Word.
- Believing, the teaching Word becomes faith in the heart.
- Practicing the Word. Practiced faith will result in perseverance, which means we cannot be hindered by anything or anyone to come to Jesus in the right service.
Luke 5:20, 23-24
5:20. When He saw their faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you."
5:23. "Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, 'Rise up and walk’?
5:24. "But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins" ––He said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."As for Jesus, there is the power of the cross to forgive and heal the paralytic.
As for the paralytics, there is faith and perseverance. The hand of power added by hand of faith will result in miracle.
Spiritual miracleis renewal of life from carnal men to spiritual ones through remission of sins that we can live in righteousness and holiness.
We experience
physical miracletoo, namely we have beautiful, successful and happy future.
We become active too and are used in the revival of Holy Spirit in the last rain.
And when Jesus comes a second time, we become perfect bride. We are ready to greet Jesus' second coming.
God blesses us.
