Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 5refers to The Altar of Burnt Offerings, namely the cross or power of God to forgive our sin. God comes to forgive our sin and save us.
II Peter 3:9
3:9. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.Longsuffering of God is as follows:
- giving long life to human;
- He has not come a second time yet.
The purpose of the longsuffering of God isto make people repent, be saved, and not perish.
Without repentance, everything we do in the world before Jesus comes a second time is vain to perish forever.
Repentance is just for human, God's creation.
Other God's creations such as animal and angel have no connection with repentance.
Hebrews 10:5-10, 1410:5. Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me.
10:6. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure.
10:7. Then I said, 'Behold, I have come––In the volume of the book it is written of Me––To do Your will, O God.’"
10:8. Previously saying, "Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them" (which are offered according to the law),
10:9. then He said, "Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God." He takes away the first that He may establish the second.
10:10. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
10:14. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.Jesus comes to the world as blood and flesh man to do God's will, namely to die on the cross as sin offering.
It is medium for repentance of human to forgive our sin, even purify and perfect us.
Repentance is not for animal because of the reasons as follows:
- The animal has body and blood (soul), but does not have spiritthat will return to God.
- The animal is ordered to fill the earth, not heaven.
Genesis 1:24-25
1:24. Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so.
1:25. And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
So, the animals do not need to repent.
Repentance is not for angel because an angel
only has spiritand does not have body and blood (soul) that he cannot repent.
II Peter 2:4
2:4. For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to helland delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;
The angel does not have body and weakness, so he is willing to yield.
Doing sin, he will be Satan directly and wait to be cast down to the hell. As long as Satan has not been cast down to the hell, he looks for human to perish together with him.
Romans 2:4
2:4. Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
God gives medium to repent for human as follows:
- His forbearance, namely He always gives time and opportunity to repent.
- Longsuffering of God, namely He is willing to forgive all sins (except sin of unbelief).
- Goodness of God, namely He gives body, soul and spirit to human that he can, needs and must repent.
I John 1:7, 91:7. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
1:9. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The process for human to repentis confessing sin to God (vertical) and others (horizontal). When we confess our sins,
blood of Jesus is active for doing the things as follows:
- forgiving and covering all sins that the mark is not visible like we never do that sin,
- sanctifying and pulling out roots of sin that we do not sin anymore and repeat the sin.
Isaiah 59:1-3
59:1. Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear.
59:2. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.
59:3. For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue has muttered perversity.
If we do not want to repent, the sin will separate us from God. God cannot hear our prayer and stretch out His hand to us. God cannot do anything in our life.
Otherwise, if we want to repent and live in righteousness and holiness, it is same as stretching out our hand and calling God. God will hear our prayer and stretch out His hand to us.
The results are as follows:
- We receive the power of lifting up and serenity in the middle of the world.
Matthew 14:28-32
14:28. And Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water."
14:29. So He said, "Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
14:30. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"
14:31. And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"
14:32. And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
Peter doubts to God, but at last, he can stretch out his hand and pray to God, that he experiences the power of lifting up from drowning and everything becomes easy and light, successful and happy in His time.
We receive the power of lifting up from failure and fall to success.
God finishes all problems up to impossible one and all storms become calm.
- We receive the power of lifting up to gorgeous clouds.
Acts 7:55-60
7:55. But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,
7:56. and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!"
7:57. Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord;
7:58. and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
7:59. And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
7:60. Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
There is the power of lifting up when we face sprinkling of the blood or suffer with God.
Stephen is strong and of good couragewhen he is stoned. He does not deny God. We have to be strong and of good courage to minister and worship God, not denying God.
Stephen is used to emit the shine of glory to others. One of them is Saul who becomes Paul at last.
We are used to be witness of God, to share gospel Word to those who do not believe to God and the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ to those who have known God.
There is renewal of life from carnal men to spiritual ones, namely forgiving other's sin, loving enemy and praying for them. When Jesus comes a second time, we will be changed and lifted up to meet Him on the clouds until we sit with Him on the throne of Heaven forever.
God blesses us.
