Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 9:22 is about the direction of our following to Jesus, namely going to New Jerusalem.
Luke 9:23-26 is about the requirements of our following to Jesus.
The requirements of our following to Jesus are as follows:
- We must deny ourselves and take up our cross (verse 23).
- We must willingly lose our life because of Jesus (verse 24).
- We must be free from the influence of the world (verse 25).
- We are not ashamed and afraid because of Jesus and His words (verse 26).
ad. 4. We have no sense of shame and fear because of Jesus and His words.
- Being ashamed because of Jesus.
Luke 9:26
9:26. "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.
Being ashamed because of Jesus means one is ashamed to confess Jesus' name. It is the same as denying Jesus' name, being ashamed to confess sin because of the hard heart, and keeping sinning up to the peak of sin, namely sin of eating-drinking and marrying-giving in marriage.
Consequently, Jesus is also ashamed to confess us when He comes a second time, so we are left in the world up to perish in the hell.
The right attitudeis we must not be ashamed because of Jesus.
It means we have to confess Jesus' name, namely confessing our sin to God and others with broken heart. If we are forgiven, do not sin anymore.
2 Timothy 2:19
2:19. Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
Romans 10:9
10:9. that if you confess with your mouththe Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
We do not confess Jesus' name only, but also call on Jesus' name, so we are saved and we do not perish with the world. We are blessed, taken care of, and protected by God.
- Being ashamed because of Jesus' words.
Jesus' words are spoken by Him or the Word that is revealed through a verse that explains another verse in the Bible. It is the same as true teaching word or the word that is sharper than two-edged sword.
Being ashamed because of Jesus' word means being ashamed to confess the true teaching word, one does not hold fast the true teaching word and obey it, but denies it up to departs from the faith. He will leave the true teaching word and turn to the false one.
1 Timothy 4:1-2
4:1. Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
4:2. speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,
If we are anointed by Holy Spirit, we will firmly hold fast the true teaching word and reject the false one.
2 Peter 2:1
2:1. But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
If we leave the true teaching word and follow the false one, we will be left when Jesus comes a second time, so we perish with the world.
The right attitudeis we must not be ashamed because of Jesus' words. It means as follows:
- If we are anointed by Holy Spirit, we can firmly hold fast the true teaching word that we receive whether by word or epistle.
2 Thessalonians 2:15
2:15. Therefore, brethren, stand fast and holdthe traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.
It is also by DVD, live streaming, delayed broadcast, et cetera. The power of God is same and cannot be limited by anything.
- Obeying the true teaching word until our flesh does not sound anymore.
Philippians 2:8-11
2:8. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
2:9. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
2:10. that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11. and that every tongueshould confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus became obedient to the point of death on the cross, so He received the name which is above every name.
If we become obedient, we receive the power of Jesus' name.
The results are as follows:
- [verse 10] the power of winning over Satan the trinity.
Satan the trinity is the source of death. Winning over Satan the trinity means we are free from the death, we experience God's caring physically and spiritually (we can live in righteousness and holiness), until receiving eternal life.
The death is the source of mourning and tears.
If the death is defeated, we will experience the happiness of the Heaven that cannot be influenced by anything until the eternal one.
- [verse 9] the power to lift us up.
We receive the power to lift us up from fall into sin like king David who committed adultery with Bathsheba, but he could be lifted.
The blood of Jesus is able to forgive all of our sins up to there is no remnant of our sin as if we had never sinned. Satan cannot accuse us and we experience peace.
- [verse 11] the power of renewal.
We experience the biggest spiritual miracle, namely the renewal of life from carnal men to spiritual ones, starting from tongue.
The tongue can confess sins, speak good, true and honest words that results in faith words. We believe, testify and worship God.
It is like a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years.
Physically, it means facing disease, impossible thing, and cleavage in household.
Spiritually, it refers to decay in sin.
God is able to heal it, so the impossible thing becomes possible and the decay becomes good.
Until Jesus comes a second time, we are changed to be as glorious as Him. We can greet Him on the glorious clouds and we are with Him forever.
God blesses us.
