Theme of the Fellowship in Pematang Siantar: 25 and 50Tonight we will discuss about number 50.
Leviticus 25:8-1025:8. `And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you fortynine years.
25:9 `Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth [day] of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land.
25:10 `Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth [day] of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land.Number 50 refers to the year of Jubilee = the year of redemption = the year of liberty.
In the Jubilee, everything must be returned to its owner for free.
So,
at the Jubilee God returns whatever that already was lost from the church of God.
The Jubilee was marked by the sound of the trumpet, it is the mark that all property rights must be returned.
The trumpet is the hard Teaching Word sharper than any two-edged sword.
Ezekiel 33:1-333:1. Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
33:2 ""Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and say to them: `When I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from their territory and make him their watchman,
33:3 `when he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows the trumpet and warns the people,
The trumpet was blown by a watchman/shepherd. So the trumpet also refers to the Shepherding Word.
The Trumpet = The True Teaching Word that is trusted to a pastor to preach to the church of God faithfully, continuously, regularly and repeatedly; to become food for the church of God so they will grow toward spiritual maturity up to perfection.
The Shepherding Word is able to restore anything that has been lost from human/ people of God.
What has been lost from us?- The Clothes.
Genesis 3:7
3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they [were] naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
Human had lost their glorious clothes and they were naked because of failing in sins. In the past, Adam and Eve were naked but they still had shy feeling. At the end of time, human are going to sin until the peak of sin that is being naked but not shy.
- Peace.
Genesis 3:10
3:10 So he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself."
Being forfeit of peace = living in fears, worries, being not calm, until being separated from God.
There is no power in the world that can restore peace. A life that is forfeit of peace will be left at the time of Jesus' second coming.
The solutionsin order to return to peace are as follows:
- Jesus came and died upon the cross as the sin offering.
1 John 4:9-10
4:9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.
The trumpet/ the true teaching Word is able to motivate us making atonement with God and neighbor, meaning as follows:
- We confess our sins to God and neighbor, and do not repeat sin after being forgiven.
- Forgiving the sin of other people who have confessed to us and forgetting it.
If we have already confessed and been forgiven, the sins are already nailed to the cross and we have the peace of Heaven.
- Controlling ourselves.
1 Peter 4:7
4:7. But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
The flesh is always wild and cannot be calm, being tired in lives.
The trumpet/ the true teaching Word helps us to control the wild flesh, so we can be calm and peaceful.
The daily practices of controlling ourselves are as follows:
- Having a modest mind, the mind of Jesus.
Romans 12:3
12:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
Meaning as follows:
- Do not hunt something that is considered as great and promising things until using any way to get it.
Esau hunted meats until he used any way to get it, and in the end he lost everything.
- Do not demand something, do not force the will of our own, but always be grateful for what we have and be obedient to the Word.
A life that has a modest mind, will not be difficult to be obedient to the Word.
When we are obedient to the Shepherding Word, God will arrange our life.
Jacob was calm in the tent, he did not have anything, but in the end he got everything.
If we are willing to be obedient, to stretch our hands to God, and to surrender totally to God, He will lift and glorify us and make all things beautiful in His time.
- Being calm, do not be doubtful to the True Teaching Word, do not waver because of false teaching, also do not be doubtful facing the temptations and problems. Do not hope for anyone, but only hope to God.
1 Peter 4:7
4:7. But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
It will encourage us to pray/worship God = to stretch our hands to God and to surrender totally to God, God will also stretch His both hands to help us right in His time.
Matthew 14:28-32
14:28 And Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.
14:29 So He said, "Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
14:30 But when he saw that the wind [was] boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"
14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched out [His] hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"
14:32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
Peter had already walked on the water and experienced the miracle of God. But Peter was doubtful facing the boisterous wind so Peter started to sink. When we are doubtful to the True Teaching Word, there will be a physical or spiritual decline. The spiritual decline can happen in a form of decline in ministry or failling in sins. The physical decline is an experience of failure.
But Peter could still shout to God and was back in believing and entrusting his life totally to God. God will stretch His hands to lift us from all failling in sins, so we can live in righteousness and holiness. Also He lifts us up from all failure so we can have success. The ocean was calm, meaning God solves all problems and gives us peace. Until at the time of Jesus' second coming, we will be lifted to the glorious cloud with Him forever.
Tonight, maybe there is any of us who has already sunk in the bottom of sea like Jonah because of being disobedient to God. Jonah was assigned to go to Nineveh but he went to Tarshish, he chose a better place physically and rejected the True advice of the Word frankly. But from the bottom of the sea, Jonah could still shout and stretch his hands to God. God will also stretch His both hands and help our lives.
God blesses us.
