Luke 8 refers to the Golden Candlestick. In Luke 8, there are seven stories that refer to seven lamps on the Golden Candlestick and they are as follows:
We discuss the third story, namely The Parable of the Revealed Light.
Luke 8:16-18
8:16. "No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.
8:17. "For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.
8:18. "Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him."
The parable of the revealed light refers to sons or servants of God who live in the light and shine.
The terms to shine or become light are as follows.
We discuss the second term, namely taking heed how we hear.
When hearing the Word, it is the decisive time whether we become light up to enter the city of light or dark up to the outer darkness or the hell.
The process to hear the Word of God is as follows:
The result is as follows:
Psalms 119:105
119:105. NUN. Your word is a lamp to my feetAnd a light to my path.
The Word becomes a lamp and a light means that we live in the increasing light.
There are three kinds of increasing light as follows:
The purpose of Jesus’ coming to the world is as follows:
What must we do that we are helped by God? Being honest before God, confessing all of our sins and failure.
God will help us even we are just a bruised reed and smoking flax. We just depend on God's mercy and He will help us.
God blesses us.

- Hearing the Word of God in the anointing of Holy Spirit, namely hearing earnestly.
- Understanding the Word of God.
- Believing the Word of God, so the Word becomes faith in our heart.
- Practising the Word or obeying it.
The result is as follows:
Psalms 119:105
119:105. NUN. Your word is a lamp to my feetAnd a light to my path.
- The Word of God becomes a lamp to our feet.
It means that our life journey is not stumbled and fallen into the darkness of sins up to the peak of sin, namely sin of eating-drinking (smoking, getting drunk and drugs abuse) and marrying-giving in marriage (sexual sins with all its kinds). - The Word of God becomes the light to our path.
It means that our life journey is lighted by the Word, so we are not deceive by false teachings or company in the world, but our life journey keeps on guiding to the city of light, namely New Jerusalem or eternal Kingdom of Heaven.
The Word becomes a lamp and a light means that we live in the increasing light.
There are three kinds of increasing light as follows:
- The light in the household.
Luke 8:16
8:16. "No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.
The term is the lamp must be set on a lampstand.
It means true position.
We have to return to the true position and dutyin the household as follows:- The husband/father, his position is as the head over the wife and children.
The duty is being responsible for his wife and children physically and spiritually.
So, irresponsible young man should not get married. - The wife/mother.
Her position is as the body.
The duty is being submissive, willing to sacrifice, and being blamed and unselfish.
If the wife is able to submit, she can become helper, and arrange the household and finance well.
So, a young girl who does not want to submit, but keeps self-truth and cannot arrange herself should not get married. - The children.
Ephesians 6:1-3
6:1. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
6:2. "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise:
6:3. "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."
The duty is obeying physical, spiritual (the shepherd) and heavenly (God) parents.
The result is beautiful and happy future.
Proverbs 30:17
30:17. The eye that mocks his father, And scorns obedience to his mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out, And the young eagles will eat it.
On the contrary, how great a child is, if he does not obey physical, spiritual and heavenly parents, his future will be dark and he lives in the darkness up to the outer darkness in the hell.
- The husband/father, his position is as the head over the wife and children.
- The light shines before men.
Matthew 5:16
5:16. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Ephesians 5:8-9
5:8. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
5:9. (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
We have to radiate the light to glorify God.
There are three kinds of the light to be lighted as follows:- The light of goodness.
We do good deeds, do not harm others and return evil for evil but return good for evil. - The light of righteousness.
Being right means we are not partial to others but siding with God only. - The light of truth.
We live in righteousness according to the true teaching Word.
37:25. I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.
37:26. He is ever merciful, and lends; And his descendants are blessed.
King David has experienced and kept the truth since his youth up to old life, so his life is never left by God.
If we become a light, we will be taken care of and blessed by God up to our descendants become blessing for others, we never become burden for others. - The light of goodness.
- The light of the world.
Matthew 5:14
5:14. "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
John 8:12
8:12. Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
It means that we experience continuous process of purification and renewal of life up to being as perfect, spotless, and glorious as Jesus and being shown as the Bride of Heaven.
Revelation 12:1
12:1. Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.
Revelation 12:13-14
12:13. Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.
12:14. But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.
After becoming the Bride of Heaven, we will be pursued by antichrist, the peak of the darkness in this world. God will grant us the two wings of a great eagle that we might fly into the wilderness, being far from the eyes of antichrist. We are directly taken care of and protected by God through teaching Word and Holy Communion.
Through Bible Study Service, we are adapting to fly into the wilderness.
The two wings of a great eagle will also lift us up to the gorgeous clouds, so we meet Jesus and enter the marriage supper of the Lamb, A Thousand Years Kingdom of Peace until the city on the mount, namely New Jerusalem.
The purpose of Jesus’ coming to the world is as follows:
- To light us, whatever our condition now is, so we live in light.
John 8:2-5
8:2. Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.
8:3. Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,
8:4. they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.
8:5. "Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?"
God will light our life whatever our condition is, even like a woman who was caught in adultery.
A woman who was caught in adultery means falling into sin up to the peak of sin, in fear, being humiliated, in sorrow, pain, total failure and facing injustice.
As long as the Word exists, we are still able to be lighted. - To make us as perfect as God.
God is the light of the world, and so are we.
What must we do that we are helped by God? Being honest before God, confessing all of our sins and failure.
God will help us even we are just a bruised reed and smoking flax. We just depend on God's mercy and He will help us.
God blesses us.
