Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 11 is about "The Model Prayer".
God has a desire that we become the house of prayer, namely ministering God until we can worship Him, so we experience the renewal of life up to perfection, and we are worthy to greet when He comes a second time.
But, in Luke 11:14-23, there are
three kinds of hindrance that hinder us to become the house of prayer as follows:.
- [Luke 11:14-20] Beelzebub, namely Satan as the king of the world.
- A strong man who rules over the house, namely evil and unclean spirits which want to control our life.
- One who is against God.
ad. 3. One who is against God.
Luke 11:23
11:23. "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. One who is against God is the one who sins and scatters the body of Christ. It is the same as blaspheming Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit convicts the people of sin. One blasphemes Holy Spirit if he keeps sinning.
Holy Spirit unifies the body of Christ. One blasphemes Holy Spirit if he scatters the body of Christ.
Sin of blaspheming Holy Spirit is the unforgivable or eternal one.
Matthew 12:31
12:31. "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. There are three meanings of eternal or unforgivable sin as follows:
- Sin of not believing Jesus.
John 3:18-19
3:18. "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
3:19. "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
If we claim to believe in Jesus, there must be the proof.
The sign of not believing Jesus is loving darkness. It means that one keeps sinning and lives for sin and evil deeds. He is unwilling and unable to repent anymore.
- Intentional sin or sinning willfully.
Hebrews 10:25-27
10:25. not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
10:26. For if we sin willfullyafter we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
10:27. but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
It means that one does not minister to God willfully although he has a chance, et cetera.
There are two levels of such sin as follows.
- Habitual sin, namely one does not feel guilty and regret when he cannot minister to God, even he laughs and looks for a reason for not ministering to God.
- Intentional sin, namely one deliberately does not serve to the Lord until he cannot serve to the Lord anymore.
Sinning willfully is the same as being rebellious against God.
Exodus 19:6
19:6. 'And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."
One that can serve and minister to God is only Israel and his descendants, namely the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
God fights for the ministry of Israelites by punishing the Egyptians with ten plagues.
1 Peter 2:9-10
2:9. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
2:10. who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
The Gentiles are not God's chosen people. Genetically they may not minister to God. Because of the mercy of God which costs the blood of Jesus (Christ's sacrifice on the cross), the Gentiles can serve and minister to God. Not willingly serving and ministering to God is the same as not appreciating Christ's sacrifice. It is also the same as trampling Christ's sacrifice. We have the debt of blood which cannot be paid by anything, and it is the eternal sin.
1 Timothy 4:8-10
4:8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
4:9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.
4:10 For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.
Therefore, we must fight for our service and ministry to God more than all things.
There is double promise of Godin the ministry as follows:
- The guarantee of certainty for daily life in the world up to beautiful future.
- The guarantee of certainty for eternal life.
- Unconfessed sin.
1 John 5:16
5:16. If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that.
The eternal sin refers to the one that leads to death, namely unconfessed sin, so it is not forgiven by God.
Revelation 20:12, 14-15
20:12. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and bookswere opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
20:14. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
20:15. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
One who does not confess his sin during his life will face the white throne or the one of God's judgment.
There are three things at the throne of God's judgment as follows:
- The bible, namely the word of God which is used to judge righteously.
- The books, namely our personal book that contains all of unfinished sins or the ones which have not been confessed and forgiven yet.
- The Book of Lifethat contains the list of saved people.
The journey of our life on the last age is not for doing more sin, but finishing it by confessing and forgiving one another.
The proof that our name is not listed in the Book of Life is being spiritually withered and dead. We are not fervent in spiritual things, such as ministering to God, praying, and reading the bible anymore. We are never satisfied in all things, so we always grumble.
The teaching word that is sharper than any two-edged sword encourages us to be reconciled. We confess and forgive one another.
As a result, the blood of Jesus finishes our sins. We can worship God with the broken heart. We feel that we are unworthy, incapable, and worthless. We fall down worshiping God and totally surrender to Him.
The example is Job. He is a great man both physically and spiritually.
Job 1:1-3
1:1. There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.
1:2. And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.
1:3. Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.
Job 32:1-232:1. So these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
32:2. Then the wrath of Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was aroused against Job; his wrath was aroused because he justified himself rather than God.There is a sin which has not been finished by Job, namely
sin of self-truth.
Job only blames others and God, but he never does introspection, so God allows him to experience the total test until he realizes his sin. He repents in dust and ashes, and worships God with the broken heart.
Job 42:5-6
42:5. "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.
42:6. Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes."
As a result, God's merciful hand is stretched out to recover Job doubly, both physically and spiritually, so his name is written in the Book of Life.
The other example is a woman who was a sinner.
Luke 7:36-38
7:36. Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat.
7:37. And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,
7:38. and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. This woman had fallen into sin up to the peak.
But when she heard the teaching word, she could confess her sin at Jesus' feet. She made peace and worshipped God with the broken heart so she experienced the anointing of Holy Spirit.
Titus 3:5
3:5. not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,Holy Spirit is able to perform miracle spiritually, namely renewing us from fleshly men to spiritual ones like Jesus. Decay is changed into fragrance. Sinful deed is also changed into righteousness. We are used by God to testify about the things as follows:
- Good news (gospel word) for people who have not believed in Jesus, so they can believe in Jesus and be saved.
- The Bride Tidings (the teaching word) to the people who have believed in Jesus so they can be purified. They enter the building of the body of Christ up to perfection.
And, physical miracle will happen too. The dead thing becomes alive. Failure is changed into success. The impossible thing becomes possible.
It continues until we are changed to become as perfect as Jesus is. We are worthy to greet when Jesus comes a second time on the glorious clouds.
God blesses us.
