Luke 3:23-38is about "
Genealogy of Jesus".
From this genealogy, we know the age and ancestor of Jesus.
Luke 3:23
3:23. Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty yearsof age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,Jesus serves at thirty years old.
Numbers 4:3
4:3. "from thirty yearsold and above, even to fifty years old, all who enter the service to do the work in the tabernacle of meeting. This is according to the Law. So, Jesus comes to fulfill the Law.
For us, thirty years old means spiritually being mature.
Only people who are mature in spirituality can serve God.
Daily practices of spiritual mature lifeare as follows.- Being willing for suffering in the flesh to stop doing sin, die to sin and live in righteousness.
Hebrews 11:24-26
11:24. By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
11:25. choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,
11:26. esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
The process is through right water baptism.People who have already died to sin must be buried with Jesus in the water, and raise with Jesus for getting newness of life. The newness of life is we live in righteousness, experience freedom from sins although we have opportunity, threat, et cetera.
Romans 6:18
6:18. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
After living in righteousness, God will lift us up to become slaves of righteousnesswhich means we serve God in faithfulness and righteousness.
Serving God is signified with sacrifices. We have to sacrifice everything to serve God (time, power, money, mind). Only one that we may not sacrifice, that is true teaching Word.
If we serve God faithfully and correctly, and are willing to sacrifice for God, we can glorify and glamorize God.
God never lies to usbecause our reward and work are with Him, both for now and for everlasting life.
Isaiah 49:3-4
49:3. "And He said to me, 'You are My servant, O Israel, In whom I will be glorified.’
49:4. Then I said, 'I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely my just reward is with the LORD, And my work with my God.’"
- Being able to receive solid food, that is hard teaching Word or the Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword.
Hebrews 5:13-14
5:13. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
5:14. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
There are twokindsof spiritual foodsas follows.
- Milk, that is gospel Word.
- Solid food, that is the Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword.
The true teaching Word is useful to sanctify senses.
Starting from earneedsto be purified, that it only hearsand obeysthe true teaching Word. And do not give any chances to hear other teaching, false teaching, and unverifiable gossip.
Skin(feeling) is purified that we love God and others, do not discriminate others.
Mouthis also purified to result in good and right word, words that become blessing to others.
The results of sanctification are as follows:
- We can discern both good and evil (Hebrews 5: 14), both true and false. Starting from discerning both true and false teaching, both true and false ministry, that we can think, act and say good and right thing.
- All things become good.
Mark 7:37
7:37. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak."
- Being able to worship God and fond of worshiping Him.
John 9:21,37-38
9:21. "but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself."
9:37. And Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you."
9:38. Then he said, "Lord, I believe!" And he worshiped Him.
To worship God is the eyelooks at Him, the mouthspeaks with Him, the hand is stretched out toHim.
And God will see us, eye to eye. He also speaks with us, mouth to mouth. His hand is also stretched out to us, hand to hand.
2 Kings 4:32-36
4:32. When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed.
4:33. He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the LORD.
4:34. And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm.
4:35. He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.
4:36 And he called Gehazi and said, "Call this Shunammite woman." So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, "Pick up your son."
The example is Elisha the prophet faces a child lying dead on his bed. It refers to these things.
- Life who spiritually dies and becomes dry and lives in sin until the peak of sins.
- Life who totally fails and has no beautiful future.
- Impossible condition.
- Being in distress, tears and sadness.
To face the dying child, Elisha as a human prays and worships God.
Spiritually, Elisha refers to the Holy Spirit. When worshipping God, our eyes meet God's, mouth to mouth, hand to hand.
The results are as follows [2 Kings 4:35]:
- Sneezing seven times.
It means purification from all dirts until there is perfection (referring to the number seven).
- Our eyes only see God, only hope to His mercy.
And there will be a miracle, impossible thing becomes possible, the dead becomes alive.
The biggest miracle is renewal of life from carnal men to spiritual men like Jesus.
Physical miracle will happen too, all problems are solved, failed life is lifted up to be successful. When God comes again on second time, we will be changed as glorious as Him and be happy forever.
God blesses us.
