Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 8 refers to the Golden Candlestick. In Luke 8, there are seven stories that refer to seven lamps on the Golden Candlestick and they are as follows:
- Many Women Minister to Jesus (Luke 8:1-3).
- The Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:4-15).
- The Parable of the Revealed Light (Luke 8:16-18).
- Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Come to Him (Luke 8:19-21).
- Wind and Wave Obey Jesus (Luke 8:22-25).
- A Demon-Possessed Man Healed (Luke 8:26-39).
- A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed (Luke 8:40-56).
We discuss the seventh story namely
A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed.
In Luke 8:40-56, there are three stories that are closely related, so they become one story.
These three stories also refer to our personal life, namely body, soul and spirit as follows.
- Jairus refers to weak bodybecause of problem or heavy burden, namely facing his daughter who was sick and dying, there was no hope.
- A woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years refers to weary soulthat languishes; there is no rest and peace.
It is like the blood keeps flowing for twelve years. There is a soul in the blood. Flowing of blood refers to weary soul.
- A sick girl who died refers to dead spirit. It means having no relationship with God.
These three persons also refer to three kinds of perseverance. The Golden Candlestick was hammered and it refers to perseverance.
We learn about
the perseverance of a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years.
Luke 8:43-48
8:43. Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,
8:44. came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
8:45. And Jesus said, "Who touched Me?" When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, "Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, 'Who touched Me?’"
8:46. But Jesus said, "Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me."
8:47. Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
8:48. And He said to her, "Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace."
The meanings of having a flow of blood for twelve years are as follows:
- Living in decay or uncleanness.
- There is cleavage. It means dispute and quarrel, so one does not experience peace. Having a flow of blood means there is a broken artery.
- Being unsuccessful (this disease cannot be healed).
- Suffering, difficulty and powerlessness.
- An impossible thing that brings to perdition.
In suffering, this woman made
effortto touchthe border of Jesus' garment.
Revelation 19:13-14, 16, 6-719:13. He was clothed with a robedipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
19:14. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.
19:16. And He has on His robeand on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
19:6. And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!
19:7. "Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready."The robe refers to the Word of God. The robe which is written KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS means the Word of bridegroom.
There are two kinds of the preaching of the Word as follows:
- The gospel word or good news. It means the word that declares Jesus' first coming to the world to save the sinners.
- Teaching word of bride tidings. It means the Word that declares Jesus' second coming on the glorious clouds to purify saved people up to being perfect and becoming His bride.
The perseverance of faith is one’s efforts to hear the bride tidings diligently up to obey and practice it in his everyday life.
The process of perseverance of faith is as follows:
- We make effort to hear the word earnestly and in need until we understand and believe it, so it becomes faith in our heart. It is like a dog that licks crumbs.
We totally believe in God and do not hope anything in this world, but hope only in Him.
- The test of faith.
We have to face the test of faith, so we can endure. We are not disappointed or desperate against any challenges.
Romans 4:19-21
4:19. And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
4:20. He did not waver at the promise of Godthrough unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,
4:21. and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
When we have not been helped yet by God, do not be weak in faith, but strengthened in faith and believe that He will help us.
- To humble our life as low as we can under the feet of Jesus.
It means we feel that we have a lot of mistakes and weaknesses, are not worthy, even unable to do anything, and we confess that we are just mortar.
We totally depend on God's mercy and power. It is the same as touching the border of His garment.
The results are as follows:
- God's merciful and powerful hand helps and wipes all problems and impossibilities.
Psalms 62:11-12
62:11. God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.
62:12. Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.
- God's merciful and powerful hand protects and takes care of us directly and miraculously.
Isaiah 6:1
6:1. In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
- God's merciful and powerful hand is able to make everything beautiful in due time.
Exodus 28:33-35
28:33. " And upon its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet, all around its hem, and bells of gold between them all around:
28:34. "a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe all around.
28:35. "And it shall be upon Aaron when he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he goes into the holy place before the LORD and when he comes out, that he may not die.
The golden bells and pomegranates refer to beauty.
The physical beauty is we have beautiful future,et cetera.
The spiritual beauty is we are changed from carnal men to spiritual ones like Jesus.
The beauty is started from mouth. The mouth determines whether our life decays or not.
The mouth is changed as follows:
- Speaking true and good words.
- We can testify.
Luke 8:47
8:47. Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the peoplethe reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
We must testify about bride tidings or about Jesus as the Head and we are His body. We are not separated from Him anymore.
- Worshipping God.
God blesses us.
