Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 9:51-53
9:51. Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,
9:52. and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him.
9:53. But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem.
The Samaritans are the mixing of Israelites and Gentiles, so they are not recognized as the Israelites.
The Samaritans did not receive Jesus because of His journey to Jerusalem. It means the Gentiles reject Jesus as the sin offering and do not appreciate Christ's sacrifice or mercy.
The practice of not appreciating Christ's sacrifice is as follows:
- Falling into sin and leaving the ministry to God.
Luke 10:30-34
10:30. Then Jesus answered and said: "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
10:31. "Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
10:32. "Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.
10:33. "But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.
10:34. "So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
A certain man who went down from Jerusalem could not be helped by a priest and a Levite, but a Samaritan.
It means this man was a Samaritan.
A certain Samaritan went down from Jerusalem, the center of spiritual activity, to Jericho, the center of physical activity, so he fell among thieves.
God's mercy has lifted us up, so we can become the priests and the kings. We live in the hand of God.
But, if we reject God's mercy, we will fall into the hand of Satan. It starts from falling into sin and becoming half dead up to perishing forever.
John 8:48
8:48. Then the Jews answered and said to Him, "Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?"
Jesus willingly became a Samaritan to set the Gentiles free from the hand of Satan.
Luke 10:33-34
10:33. "But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.
10:34. "So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
What does Jesus do?
- Jesus bandages the wounds. It means He forgives all of our sins.
- Jesus pours on oil and wine.
The oil means the anointing oil of Holy Spirit.
The wine means Jesus' blood.
Exodus 29:21
29:21. "And you shall take some of the bloodthat is on the altar, and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments, on his sons and on the garments of his sons with him; and he and his garments shall be hallowed, and his sons and his sons' garments with him.
We are sprinkled by the anointing oil and blood, so we keep ministering to God faithfully and fervently.
Revelation 6:6
6:6. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine."
Our ministry is not harmed, but become eternal and we are taken care of by God up to eternal life.
- The leprosy.
Luke 17:11-16
17:11. Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
17:12. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.
17:13. And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
17:14. So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
17:15. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God,
17:16. and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
The practice of not appreciating Christ's sacrifice is the leprosy. It means the self-truth or covering sin by blaming others.
Consequently, one dwells alone or is separated from the body of Christ and perishes forever.
Mark 15:9-11
15:9. But Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?"
15:10. For he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.
15:11. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them.
Jesus willingly died on the cross to justify us, so we receive God's righteousness, namely confessing and forgiving one another. All of our sins will be taken away by the blood of Jesus, so we experience peace and we can give thanks to God.
- Being thirsty.
John 4:7,15-18
4:7. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give Me a drink."
4:15. The woman said to Him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw."
4:16. Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here."
4:17. The woman answered and said, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You have well said, 'I have no husband,'
4:18. "for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly."
Being thirsty means one is never satisfied, so he looks for the satisfaction in the world and falls into the peak of sin, namely sin of eating-drinking (smoking, getting drunk, and drugs abuse), marrying-giving in marriage, and bitterness.
John 4:9
4:9. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
The consequence is experiencing sorrow, bitterness, misery, and tears up to perishing forever.
John 19:28-30
19:28. After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst!"
19:29. Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth.
19:30. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Jesus willingly drinks the sour wine on the cross and pours out the new wine (Holy Spirit) that is able to satisfy us.
John 4:13-14
4:13. Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,
4:14. "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
We must surrender everything to God (we give Jesus a drink).
The results are as follows:
- Jesus will give us the living water of Holy Spirit that gives the true satisfaction to us, so we can testify and worship God.
- Holy Spirit renews us from carnal men to spiritual ones like Jesus. This is the greatest miracle.
Titus 3:5
3:5. not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Acts 2:2-4
2:2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
2:3. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
2:4. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Starting from the ear is changed to become obedient to the word of God.
The mouth is changed, so we can speak the true word. We do not lie, but testify and worship God.
If ear and mouth are good, God is able to do all things well and beautifully. God is able to finish everything. Everything will be opened for us until the heaven is opened for us when Jesus comes a second time.
Markus 7:34-37
7:34. Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha," that is, "Be opened."
7:35. Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly.
7:36. Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it.
7:37. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak."
God blesses us.
