Mark 16 is about the resurrection of Jesus.
In Tabernacle, Mark 16 refers to Shekinah Glory.
Shekinah Glory or the light of glory shone to three groups of the sons of God or the servants of God as follows:
- Verse 9-11, Mary Magdalene.
- Verse 12-13, two disciples going to Emmaus.
- Verse 14, eleven disciples.
Ad. 3. Eleven disciplesMark 16:1416:14. Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.
The eleven disciples refer to
ones who do not believe in Jesus' resurrection.
The consequences are as follows:
- Being in deep sorrow until often being hopeless.
- Not being raised together with Jesus when He comes a second time after they died. It equals to perdition.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17
4:13. But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
4:15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
4:17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Tonight the light of glory shines to us to do these things:
- To make us believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Romans 4:25
4:25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.
Jesus died to redeem our sins/offenses and He was raised because of our justification.
Thus, the practice of believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus is being dead to sin or repenting and living for righteousness.
Psalm 37:25-26
37:25 I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.
37:26 He is ever merciful, and lends; And his descendants are blessed.
The righteous will never be forsaken by God, meaning as follows:
- He always blesses us up to our descendants, and we can become blessing for other people.
- He always helps us.
- We believe in Jesus who has ascended to heaven and sat at the right hand of Father God as High Priest.
1 Thessalonians 4:16
4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Jesus has descended to the deepest part of the earth and ascended in order to give us ministry, to lift us up as priests and kings.
The fact found in believing in Jesus who has ascended to heaven is being priest and king, the one who serves and ministers God.
Ephesians 4:8-11
4:8 Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men."
4:9 (Now this, "He ascended" --what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?
4:10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
The priests and kings are as follows:
- The ones who are holy.
- The ones who have ministry.
- The ones who serve and minister God.
The duty of priests and kings are as follows:
- Being active in the ministry of building Christ's body.
1 Peter 2:5
2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 4:12
4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
The ministry of building Christ's body begins inside marriage.
Husband is the head, whose duty is to love the wife and protect her.
The wife is the body or the ribs, whose duty is to cover the weakness of the husband, and to worship God many more.
The children are the limbs, whose duty is to obey the parents and to lighten their burden.
Moreover, the ministry in shepherding must be in line with the priest's office, and the ministry inter-shepherding also until we become one perfect body of Christ.
- Bearing witness.
1 Peter 2:9
2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
We bear witness by our saying and deeds to shine the light of salvationto other people who have not believed in Jesus yet.
Bearing witness is also to shine the light of gloryto those who have already saved, so they can enter the building of the perfect body of Christ.
Shining the light, one must absolutely live in the light already as the shining lamp.
The result of living in the light is as follows:
- The light of testimony defeats the darkness, especially the darkness of basket, referring to the sins concerning eating-drinking such as smoking, being drunk, gambling, and drugs abuse, and marrying-giving in marriage such as sexual sin with all its kinds, homosexuality, lesbianism, and sexuality to oneself.
- We have the lovingkindness of God to lift us up from all falls in sin, so we can return to live in righteousness and holiness.
1 Peter 2:10
2:10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
David is a great king but he felt in sin with Bathsheba. But he could realize his sin and confess it, and the Lord lifted him up.
- We believe that Jesus will come a second time soon.
Psalm 27:14
27:14 Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
The proof is we can be strong and of good courageas follows:
- Holding fast the true teaching Word and obeying it.
Colossians 3:5-9
3:5. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
3:6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,
3:7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.
3:8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
3:9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,
We have to hold the sword of the Word, so we can be sanctified until we are blameless.
- We are not hopeless or disappointed facing anything, but we keep on believing and entrusting ourselves fully to God as well as worshiping Him many more.
Believing and entrusting ourselves fully to God equals to lifting up our hands to Him. As a result, He will also stretch His hand to us to perform miracle. The main miracle is life renewal.
Colossians 3:10-14
3:10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,
3:11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
3:13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
3:14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
The life renewal begins with tender mercies, until we have the perfect love and we become God's Bride.
If the physical miracle has happened, the spiritual will surely happen.
The ones who have already been dead with keeping on believing and entrusting himself fully to God will be raised in the body of glory when Jesus comes a second time. The ones who are still alive when Jesus comes a second time will be changed to become as glorious as Jesus is. We all together become the one perfect body and meet Jesus on glorious clouds.
God blesses you.
