Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In the arrangement of Tabernacle, Luke 7 refers to the brazen laver which meanslife renewal.
Last week, we learned about Luke 7:1-7. It is about a Roman centurion.
There are only two nations in the world as follows: Israel (God's chosen people) and the Gentiles. The Roman Centurion refers to the great gentile both physically and spiritually.
However, even with his greatness, the Gentile is not able to finish physical problem (disease), moreover spiritual one (sin).
That is why the Gentiles still suffer up to perish forever even though they are great.
For helping the Gentiles, God does not see our greatness, but
faith. That is why, the Gentiles must experience the renewing which means that we do not depend on our greatness anymore, but learn to live by faith.
Now, we discuss about Luke 7:7-10.
Luke 7:7-10
7:7. "Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.
7:8. "For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,’ and he goes; and to another, 'Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,’ and he does it."
7:9. When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!"
7:10. And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick.
The centurion of the gentile has the great faith. It means that he believes God the Trinity in Jesus and the working of God the Trinity in Jesus which is described as military jobs, namely the General (God the Father), the Centurion (Son of God) and the Soldier (God the Holy Spirit or Christ).
- God the Father.
The work of God the Father is sending His only Son to the world to die on the cross to save the sinners.
Only Jesus is the Savior, because He is the only innocent man.
- Son of God.
The work of Son of God is saying the word.
The word means as follows:
- 'It is finished!'
John19:30
19:30. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
It means that Jesus has died on the cross to bear all the curse of sin, suffering, punishment of sin and perdition, so the sinners can be saved.
The condition to experience the power of 'It is finished!' is we have to say 'it is finished!' too.
It means that we have to finish our sins by confessing earnestly to God on the cross.
If we are forgiven, do not sin anymore.
We repent and live in righteousness.
We receive salvation means there is no more bitterness and curse.
Confessing sin is the same as giving sour wine to God, so we can live happily in Him.
- "Go!", "Come!", and "Do this!"
Luke 7:8
7:8. "For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,’ and he goes; and to another, 'Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,’ and he does it."
John 16:7
16:7. "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
If Jesus goes away, which means that He dies on the cross, rises and ascends to the Heaven, He can send Holy Spirit to the world.
If Jesus does not go away, Holy Spirit will not come to us.
"Come!"
It means that Jesus baptizes us by Holy Spirit, so Holy Spirit comes into our life.
Matthew 3:11
3:11. "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
The condition that we can experience Holy Spirit baptism is we believe in Jesus, repent and get water baptism. After that, we can experience Holy Spirit baptism.
Romans 6:2, 4
6:2. Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
6:4. Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The true water baptism is one who has died to sin must be buried in the water with Jesus and rise from water with Him to receive new life. We experience new life in the anointing of Holy Spirit, we obey God and have peace.
"Do this!"
It means that Holy Spirit works actively in our own life.
Romans 8:26
8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Holy Spirit helps our weaknesses as follows:
- Being easily desperate, disappointed, even leaving God when there are impossible temptations.
Romans 5:5
5:5. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
When we are desperate or disappointed, Holy Spirit pours out the love of God in our heart, so we are not disappointed in problem, but give thanks and keep being faithful and fervent in spirit in ministry.
- One only does carnal or sinful deed and he cannot do the right and good deed.
Galatians 5:19-21
5:19. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
5:20. idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
5:21. envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Romans 8:13
8:13. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Holy Spirit is able to put to death the deeds of the body.
- One cannot pray.
Romans 8:26-28
8:26. Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
8:27. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
8:28. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
If we cannot pray, we are spiritually withered, our soul is tormented until we have spiritual death.
Holy Spirit helps us with groanings which cannot be uttered. It means that we can pray with other tongues or the great faith.
Even though we see failure now, but by faith, we see God, believe and stretch out our hand to Him, so He will stretch out His merciful hand to us.
Faith and mercy will result in the miracle.
All problems even the impossible ones are finished by God.
God also makes everything good, beautiful and successful in His time.
God makes us perfect to greet when He comes a second time.
God blesses us.
