Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In the arrangement of Tabernacle, Luke 7: 1-35 refers to
the brazenlaver or
water baptism (the life renewal).
Romans 6:2, 46:2. Certainly not! How shall we who died to sinlive any longer in it?
6:4. Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raisedfrom the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. The term of true water baptism is to die to sin which means repenting.
The implementation of the true water baptism is one who has repented must be buried in the water with Jesus and rise from water with Him to receive new life, namely life in righteousness.
So,
the renewalis being dead to old life (sinful life) and rising in the new one, namely life in righteousness, life of faith.
Luke 7:1-5
7:1. Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum.
7:2. And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die.
7:3. So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant.
7:4. And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving,
7:5. "for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue."
This centurion is the Roman or a gentile. He has high position and does many services, loves Israelites, sacrifices for the building of the temple of God and pays attention to his servant.
With all the greatness, the gentiles
cannotfinish physical problem, moreover spiritual one (sin).
That is why, the gentiles keep on suffering. If it continues, they will perish forever.
Do not be proud if we have greatness and do not be disappointed if we are not great. When helping someone, God does not see his greatness, but
faith.
Luke 7:6-10
7:6. Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof.
7:7. "Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.
7:8. "For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,’ and he goes; and to another, 'Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,’ and he does it."
7:9. When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!"
7:10. And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick.
That is why, the gentiles must experience the renewal that they do not rely on their greatness, but faith.
From where do we get the faith?
Romans 10:17
10:17. So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The true faith comes by hearing true teaching Word that is anointed by Holy Spirit.
If we hear the wrong Word, our faith will not grow but die. So, be careful with what we hear!
Luke 8:18
8:18. "Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him."
Besides hearing true Word, we have to take heed how we hear. The moments of hearing the Word determines whether the faith will be given or taken from us.
Matthew 15:24
15:24. But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
Actually, Jesus comes for helping and saving the lost sheep of the house of Israel, not the gentiles (the dog). But, God gives mercy and opportunity to the gentiles, so they can hear the true teaching Word, that they may receive the help, faith and salvation.
Therefore, we have to hear the Word earnestly.
Luke 7:3
7:3. So when he heardabout Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant.
The centurion can hear about Jesus is the same as our condition right now, namely hearing the true Word, so we can receive the faith.
The process to receive thefaith is as follows:
- Hearing the true teaching Word earnestly.
- Understanding the true teaching Word.
- Believing the true teaching Word.
- The True teaching Word will become faith in our heart.
The practice of having the faith in the heart is as follows:
- Believing Jesus as God and the Savior.
- Believing Christ's sacrifice that is able to heal physical and spiritual disease (sin) which makes us perish.
Luke 7:7
7:7. "Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.
The sentence '
But say the word, and my servant will be healed' is a faith.
A word is the word '
It is finished!' that is said by Jesus on the cross.
It means that He bears all problems and sins (sour wine mingled with gall) which makes the gentiles bitter and perish, and He has already finished it on the cross.
Believing Jesus and His sacrifice is
the great faith.
A lot of Israelites do not have faith like this, but the gentiles have it.
Luke 7:97:9. When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!"
The proofs that we have the great faith are as follows:
- Feeling unworthy.
Luke 7:6-7
7:6. Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthythat You should enter under my roof.
7:7. "Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.
It means that we confess our sin to God and others. If we are forgiven, do not sin anymore but repent and live in righteousness.
- Feeling unable.
It means that we pray, trust and totally commit ourselves to God even our eyes do not see Him physically.
Living in righteousness and prayingare the great faith.
James 5:16-17
5:16. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
5:17. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
The prayer of a righteous man which is prayed with the great faith results the great power. It means that our prayer is answered by God and miracle happens.
The results are as follows:
- Recovery happens, the impossible thing becomes possible, there is health in body, economic, school/college, work and marriage.
Everything is finished in His time.
- Preservation and protection power from God from now on till antichrist reigns in the world for three and half years.
- Spiritual miracle namely we experience life renewal.
James 5:18
55:18. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
Hebrews 13:15-17
13:15. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips,
13:16. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
13:17. Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
Changing is the same as bearing fruits.
We can produce good fruits. It starts from the fruit of our lips which is true, good, and does not lie.
Our word just glorifies and worships God as well as testifies.
Then, there is the fruit of good deed to others, we become blessing for others physically and spiritually.
And we have the fruit of obedience to physical, spiritual (shepherd) and heavenly parent (God).
We keep on bearing the fruits up to being changed to be as glorious as Him when He comes a second time. We greet Him on the glorious clouds.
God blesses us.
