Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 11:37-54 is about '
Woe to the Pharisees and Lawyers'
Luke 11:37-41
11:37. And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and sat down to eat.
11:38. When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner.
11:39. Then the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness.
11:40. "Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also?
11:41. "But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.The Pharisee invited Jesus to eat. It means the fellowship that culminates to the worship.
There are two kinds of fellowship or ministry as follows:
- The ministry of the Pharisees and Lawyers, namely the one of the Law system or the one that shows physical things or habit, not the word. One does not want to hear and obey the true teaching word.
The signs are as follows:
- Hypocrisy.
Luke 11:39
11:39. Then the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness.
It means that the inward and the outside are not same. The outside is clean (physically), but the inward is dirty (spiritually) because of rejecting the word, so one does not experience the purification by the teaching word.
- Foolishness.
Matthew 7:26-27
7:26. "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish manwho built his house on the sand:
7:27. "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."
It means that one wants to hear the word but he does not obey it. Consequently, he builds his spiritual house on the sand, so it falls by the work of Satan the trinity (the winds, rain and floods). He falls and rises in sin up to the peak, namely sin of eating-drinking (smoking, getting drunk and drugs abuse) and marrying-giving in marriage (sexual sin and false marriage).
And great was its fall means that it could not be rebuilt. It is the same as one cannot repent anymore.
If one minister to God without the true teaching word or does not want to use the opportunity to sit down to eat with Jesus, hisministry will be in vain.
Consequently, he will be destroyed and he cannot sit down to eat with Jesus on the throne of heaven.
Matthew 15:26
15:26. But He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs."
Actually, the Gentiles were not worthy to eat the word. It was just for the Israelites.
But, by Christ's sacrifice we can be made worthy to eat the word. If we do not use it eanestly, we will be broken and destroyed.
- The true ministry, namely prioritizing and enjoying the true teaching word like one who eats food because he is hungry. We hear and obey the true teaching word.
The result is that we are renewed from fleshly men to spiritual ones like Jesus. The word is sharper than any two-edged sword. It means that the first sharpness purifies us and the second one renews us.
Ephesians 4:21-27
4:21. if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:
4:22. that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
4:23. and be renewedin the spirit of your mind,
4:24. and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
4:25. Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.
4:26. "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
4:27. nor give place to the devil.
The new life is signified by the things as follows:
- Speaking honestlyor saying yes if yes and no if no.
We honestly confess our sin. Do not sin anymore after being forgiven!
- We do not get angry without any reason or love.
- Being obedient until our flesh does not sound anymore. It is a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Ephesians 5:1-2
5:1. Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
5:2. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
These are the signs of life who wants to use the opportunity to sit down to eat with Jesus, namely honesty and obedience.
The example is the widow of Zarephath. She faced the dryness. It is the same as the crisis of economy, difficulty, and impossibility in the last days. It can be faced with honesty and obedience only.
1 Kings 17:7-8, 11-12
17:7. And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
17:8. Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
17:11. And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."
17:12. So she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die."
The widow of Zarephath confessedall of her physical and spiritual conditions (being selfish and not prioritizing others and God).
1 Kings 17:13-15
17:13. And Elijah said to her, "Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son.
17:14. "For thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.'"
17:15. So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days.
If we become honest and obedient, the physical miralce will happen.
God is able to take care of us miraculously, finish all problems up to the impossible ones, and give beautiful and successful future.
It continues until the last miracle, namely we are changed to become perfect. We are worthy to greet Jesus when He comes a second time on the glorious clouds, and we sit down to eat with Him on the throne of heaven.
Luke 13:29
13:29. "They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God.
God blesses us.
