Speaker : Deacon Gideon PakpahanLuke 4:38-41
4:38. Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s motherwas sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her.
4:39. So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.
4:40. When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.
4:41. And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, "You are the Christ, the Son of God!" And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the Christ.
Peter's wife's motherrefers to person who prepares the bride for the bridegroom.
For us now, it refers to person who has been so long in the teaching Word or bride tidings, but unfortunately he
has a high fever.
Being feveredmeans being neither cold nor hot, but unfaithful and not fervent in the ministry.
The consequences of being fevered are as follows:
- The skin grows black.
Job 30:30
30:30. My skin grows blackand falls from me; My bones burnwith fever.
It means as follows:
- falling into the sin up to the peak of sin,
- living in the sin up to the peak of sin= one does not want to repent until someday he can not repent.
Jeremiah 13:23
13:23. Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Then may you also do good who are accustomed to do evil.
- The bone becomes dry.
The characteristicsof dry bone life are as follows:
- Being fragile:
- one has no power to reject and face sins up to the peak of sin,
- one has no power to fight the lust of the flesh.
For example, Herod who takes his brother's wife.
For us now, young people often do not obey about mate.
The other example is Absalom who wants to be a king.
II Samuel 15:1, 4
15:1. After this it happened that Absalom provided himself with chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
15:4. Moreover Absalom would say, "Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice."
II Samuel 18:9
18:9. Then Absalom met the servants of David. Absalom rode on a mule. The mule went under the thick boughs of a great terebinth tree, and his head caught in the terebinth; so he was left hanging between heaven and earth. And the mule which was under him went on.
The consequence is Absalom is left hanging between heaven and earth, he cannot enter the Heaven and perish forever.
Even though we have cleverness and office, it does not guarantee our success.
- Loving to bein the grave.
Matthew 23:27
23:27. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombswhich indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.
Loving to bein the gravemeans one does not like to stay at home and sheepfold.
The grave means the extension of the hand of death like discotheque, movie theater or even the church which does not priority the ministry.
- Being scattered.
Ezekiel 37:1-3, 7
37:1. The hand of the LORD came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones.
37:2. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry.
37:3. And He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" So I answered, "O Lord GOD, You know."
37:7. So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone.
It means one does not want to unite in marriage and shepherding service.
Not to unite in marriageis started from not to unite in friendship time, that is not being in one teaching.
Do not feel strong, because at the last, Solomon is drawn by his wives.
- Easily to be desperate, disappointed and proud.
Proverbs 17:22
17:22. A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.
- Being fervent in the lustandsin up to the peak of sin.
Romans 1:27
1:27. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lustfor one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
Not being fervent in ministry means being fervent in the lustand sin up to the peak of sin.
It is same as being fervent in the building of the body of Babylon which only waits to be destroyed.
God helps by touchingthe hand of Peter's wife's mother.
It means Jesus tells the true teaching Word.
Matthew 8:14-158:14. Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.
8:15. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.
Romans 10:2110:21. But to Israel he says: "All day long I have stretched out My handsTo a disobedient and contrary people."
There are two attitudes when God stretches out His Hand as follows:
- The attitude of Israel who rejects and contradictsit.
The practice of rejecting and contradicting the Word is being sleepy, bored and criticizing the Word.
- Hearing teaching Word solemnly with a needuntil we can practice and obey it as well as hold the hand of God.
The results are as follows:
- All our problems will be finished by the merciful hand of God.
Matthew 8:15
8:15. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.
Our life is easy and light, and so is our ministry.
We are used in the ministry of the building of the perfect body of Christ.
- The hand of God is able to lift up our lifephysically and spiritually from physical failure or sin.
God blesses us.
