Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 9:28-36 is about Jesus Transfigured on the Mount.
The peak of our ministry is worshipping God. The result is our face (the heart) and cloth (the deed) are changed. It refers to the renewal of life.
Luke 9:30-31
9:30. And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,
9:31. who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
Moses, Elijah, and Jesus speak of Jesus' purpose to Jerusalem, namely suffering to the point of death on the cross.
Matthew 16:21
16:21. From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many thingsfrom the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
Moses, Elijah, and Jesus who are in glory refer to the mercy seat with 2 cherubim that covers the ark of covenant.
- Moses who received the law represents God the Father or the first cherub.
- Jesus who suffered to the point of death on the cross represents Son of God or the mercy seat.
- Elijah or the anointed prophet represents Holy Spirit God or the second cherub.
So, Moses, Elijah, and Jesus refer to the mercy seat with 2 cherubim that covers the ark of covenant. It is the same as God's protection for His church. It is the result of prayer.
Why do we need God's protection through prayer? We need it because the whole world will be punished by God with fire from the heaven, until punishment in the hell.
Before God punishes the whole world, He gives the warning and provides secure shelter first.
It is God's mercy.
The examples are as follows:
- In the days of Noah.
God punished human with the flood. God provided the shelter, namely Noah's ark.
But, only eight people were saved.
1 Peter 3:20-21
3:20. who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
3:21. There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism(not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Now, Noah's ark refers to water baptism. It is the shelter of God, so we are not punished. In the past time, only one Noah's ark was saved. Now, there is only one true water baptism, namely being in accordance with the Bible and as Jesus' pattern.
Romans 6:2, 4
6:2. Certainly not! How shall we who died to sinlive any longer in it?
6:4. Therefore we were buried with Himthrough baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The term of water baptism is being dead to sin or repenting. It means one stops sinning and returns to God.
The implementation of true water baptism is one who has died to sin or repented must be buried in the water with Jesus and come out or rise from water with Him to receive new life, heavenly one, or be anointed by Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:16
3:16. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
The result of water baptism is we have good conscience or sincere heart. There are no more wickedness (stinginess and greediness), uncleanness, and bitterness (envy and revenge).
We live in righteousness which is the same as salvation. We are not punished or drowned in the lake of fire and brimstone, but blessed by God physically and spiritually. The good conscience is the strong base to receive God's blessing.
If we do not want to be drowned in the water baptism, we will be drowned in the lake of fire and brimstone.
- In the days of Lot.
Genesis 19:1, 12-13, 17
19:1. Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground.
19:12. Then the men said to Lot, "Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city -- take them out of this place!
19:13. "For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the LORD, and the LORD has sent us to destroy it."
19:17. So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed."
The angels said to Lot and his family to escape to the mountains without looking behind.
Revelation 21:9-10
21:9. Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife."
21:10. And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
The mountain refers to New Jerusalem, eternal kingdom of Heaven, or perfect bride.
Escaping to the mountain means we run to the perfection.
Do not look behind means our eyes look unto Jesus as the Kings and the High Priest who sits down at the right hand of the throne of God the Father.
Hebrews 12:1-2
12:1. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
12:2. looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
We must run or race. It means we have to minister God, become the priests and kings, namely we are used by Him in the ministry of the building of the perfect body of Christ according to the ministry that He gives to us.
1 Peter 2:5-6
2:5. you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
2:6. Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame."
The terms to enter the ministry of the building of the body of Christ are as follows.
Hebrews 12:1
112:1. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sinwhich so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
- Laying aside every weight.
It means we have to finish our sin in the past that we have already done, spoken, and thought. We finish it by confessing sin with broken heart to God (vertical) and others (horizontal). If we are forgiven, do not sin anymore.
Ministering is easing the burden. If we minister by bringing the burden, we will not be able to minister, but add the burden.
- Laying aside the sin which so easily ensnares us.
It means the purification from the snare of sin or the sin in front of us.
We have not done the sin yet, but we have been interested in it or paid attention to it.
The snare of sin is placed by Satan at the place where we often pass through (at school, office, company, et cetera).
It is the snare of uncleanness, wickedness (money, wealth), and false teaching.
Exodus 23:33
23:33. "They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snareto you."
The sin that ensnares us can be purified only by the sword of the word.
So, the term to be used by God is we must live in holiness. The more we are purified, the more beautiful our life is.
Luke 9:62
9:62. But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."
We must also minister faithfully and fervently, and do not look back.
The holy, faithful, and fervent man is the same as the servant of God who is like a flame of fire.
Hebrews1:7
1:7. And of the angels He says: "Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire."
The throne of God is the same as the fiery flame.
Daniel 7:9
7:9. "I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire;
So, the servant of God who is holy, faithful, and fervent is the throne of God.
Isaiah 6:1
6:1. In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
If we become the throne of God, we will experience the power of the train of God's robe.
The train of the robe refers to God's protection.
We experience protection from God's punishment, the end of days until the hell.
The train of the robe refers to God's helping. A certain woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years was healed because she touched God's garment.
The train of the robe also refers to beauty.
We have successful and beautiful future in due time.
- In the last days.
Luke 17:28-31
17:28. "Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;
17:29. "but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
17:30. "Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
17:31. "In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back.
The last days will return like the days of Lot.
People live for sin up to the peak of sin, namely sin of eating-drinking (smoking, getting drunk, and drug abuse) and marrying-giving in marriage (sexual sin with all of its kinds through sight and deed, sexual deviation, and false marriage).
Consequently, God will punish this world with the fire from the heaven (doomsday) and the hell.
God shows the safe shelter, namely on the housetop, cool place or the place to pray.
It means we have to live in peace.
We have to make peace one another by confessing and forgiving one another, so we can live in peace. The blood of Jesus finishes all of our sins and Holy Spirit is poured out, so we can be the salty salt, not the one that loses its flavor (the pillar of salt) like Lot's wife.
Mark 9:50
9:50. "Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peacewith one another."
The salt that loses its flavor means losing heart, being disappointed and desperate until leaving the ministry to God.
Holy Spirit makes us strong and of good courage. We can give thanks to God and we keep ministering to Him faithfully and fervently.
Romans 8:13
8:13. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
The salt that loses its flavor refers to one who decays in sin up to the peak of sin. Holy Spirit puts to death the viruses of sin, so we can live in righteousness and holiness.
Titus 3:5
3:5. not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Holy Spirit renews us from carnal men to spiritual ones like Jesus, starting from obedience until our flesh does not sound anymore.
It is the same as we are in the hand of God that determines our life.
God performs physical miracle and the impossible thing becomes possible.
Until when Jesus comes a second time, we are changed to become as glorious as God. We are with God forever.
God blesses us.
