Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Overall, Luke 6 refers to righteousness or the Court of Tabernacle.
In the beginning, God creates perfect man as glorious as Him, according to His image. God puts him in Eden and he lives in happiness.
But human falls into sin, so he loses God's image, glory, holiness, and righteousness.
Consequently, they are cast out to the world, to live in curse and perish.
God is not willing if human perishes. So, He makes efforts to return human to His image, namely righteousness, holiness and glory.
God's effort to return us to His image is called
God's upbringing.
There are seven kinds of God’s upbringing as follows:
- Luke 6:1-5is about the body is brought up by God to enter in spiritual activity.
- Luke 6:12-16 is about the soul is brought up by God that we have spiritual positionin the Kingdom of Heaven.
- Luke 6:17-19 is about the spirit is brought up by God that our spiritual is not sick but healthy until perfect.
- Luke 6:6-11is about the deed is brought up by God.
- Luke 6:20-26 is about the mind is brought up by God.
- Luke 6:27-45is about the heart is brought up by God.
- Luke 6:46-49is about life journey is brought up by God.
Ad. 4. the deed is brought up by God
Luke 6:6-11
6:6. Now it happened on another Sabbath, also, that He entered the synagogue and taught. And a man was there whose right hand was withered.
6:7. So the scribesand Phariseeswatched Him closely, whether He would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against Him.
6:8. But He knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, "Arise and stand here." And he arose and stood.
6:9. Then Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one thing: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy?"
6:10. And when He had looked around at them all, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he did so, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.
6:11. But they were filled with rage, and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.
By true teaching Word, God brings up our deed that we can follow His examples and experience Sabbath.
There are three kinds of Sabbath as follows:
- The small Sabbathmeans rest or peace.
- The big Sabbathmeans we enter a Thousand Years Kingdom of Peace.
- The eternal Sabbathmeans the kingdom of Heaven or New Jerusalem. We are together with Jesus forever.
There are two groups in the synagogue that do not experience Sabbath and they are as follows:
- the group of son of God whose right hand is withered.
- the group of son of God who is like the Pharisees.
Tonight, we learn the first point.
Ad. 1: the group of son of God whose right hand is witheredThe meaningsof the son of God whose right hand is withered are as follows:
- having faith, but it does not have works.
James 2:17, 19-20
2:17. Thus also faithby itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
2:19. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe––and tremble!
2:20. But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
Faith without works is dead, which is same as Satan's faith.
This kind of faith does not save.
The practice is having faith but his life is not right, but keeps on doing sin like Satan, starting from lying and killing (hatred).
- having a hope but it does not have works.
Isaiah 30:14-17
30:14. And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel, Which is broken in pieces; He shall not spare. So there shall not be found among its fragments A shard to take fire from the hearth, Or to take water from the cistern."
30:15. For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: "In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength." But you would not,
30:16. And you said, "No, for we will flee on horses" ––Therefore you shall flee! And, "We will ride on swift horses" ––Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift!
30:17. One thousand shall flee at the threat of one, At the threat of five you shall flee, Till you are left as a pole on top of a mountain And as a banner on a hill.
It means that we always take our own ways which contradict God when we encounter temptation, and problems up to the impossible one.
- having love but it does not have works.
John 14:15
14:15. "If you love Me, keep My commandments.
The practices of love without works are as follows:
- One does not want to worship God.
- One does not obey God, the shepherd and parents.
Matthew 12:9-1212:9. Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue.
12:10. And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" ––that they might accuse Him.
12:11. Then He said to them, "What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a piton the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out?
12:12. "Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."
The consequenceis being like sheep that falls into a pit.
It means that one enters the bottomless pit, walks with wicked and unclean spirit, looks for pseudo satisfaction in the world up to falls into sin and the peak of sin. Even, he enters the church in which there is no true teaching Word.
Luke 6:86:8. But He knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, "Arise and stand here." And he arose and stood. The way out isGod brings up our deed through the Word sharper than any two-edged sword to
return us in the middle, namely the Holy Place (sheepfold or perseverance in three kinds of main service):
- The Golden Candlestick: perseverance in committing General Service,
- The Table of Showbread: perseverance in committing Bible Study Service and Holy Communion,
- The Golden Altar of Incense: perseverance in committing Prayer Service.
The resultis he can stretch out his right hand (
experiences recovery).
It means as follows:
- having faith and the works.
Psalms 37:25-26
37:25. I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.
37:26. He is ever merciful, and lends; And his descendants are blessed.
It is same as life in righteousness. We are blessed by God up to our descendants become blessing.
- having the works of hope.
Isaiah 30:14-15
30:14. And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel, Which is broken in pieces; He shall not spare. So there shall not be found among its fragments A shard to take fire from the hearth, Or to take water from the cistern."
30:15. For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: "In returning and restyou shall be saved; In quietnessand confidence shall be your strength." But you would not,
It means that we are in rest and quietness.
We can be silent and calm when encountering problem and wave.
Being silentmeans that we correct ourselves through the sharpness of the Word. If we find a mistake, we have to confess to God and others (the sign of the cross) or repent.
Being calmmeans that we control ourselves and hope God only that we can pray and all problems will be finished in His time.
- having love and the works.
It means that we are able to obeywhatever risk may come and must be sacrificed.
The result is miracle happens.
Spiritual miracleis the renewal of life from carnal men to spiritual one like Jesus.
Matthew 11:28-30
11:28. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
11:29. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentleand lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
11:30. "For My yoke is easyand My burden is light."
The renewal of life starts from being gentle and lowly in heart.
Being lowly in heartmeans one has ability to confess sin and the truth of the Word.
Being gentlemeans ability to forgive others' sin or mistake, and recognize others' superiority.
So, everything will become easy, light and beautiful in His time.
When Jesus comes a second time, we will be changed to become as glorious as Him. We are lifted up to the glorious clouds and enter a thousand years kingdom of peace and the Kingdom of Heaven.
God blesses us.
