Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 8 refers to the Golden Candlestick. In Luke 8, there are seven stories that refer to seven lamps on the Golden Candlestick and they are as follows:
- Many Women Minister to Jesus (Luke 8:1-3).
- The Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:4-15).
- The Parable of the Revealed Light (Luke 8:16-18).
- Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Come to Him (Luke 8:19-21).
- Wind and Wave Obey Jesus (Luke 8:22-25).
- A Demon-Possessed Man Healed (Luke 8:26-39).
- A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed (Luke 8:40-56).
We discuss the sixth story namely
A Demon-Possessed Man Healed.
Satan possesses humans' heart and mind or soul and spirit.
There are three states of demon-possessed son of God, namely evil and unclean spirit, and they are as follows:
- One is like a man from Gadarenes in the tombs.
Luke 8:27
8:27. And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demonsfor a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs.
The tombs mean the extension of the hand of death. For us now, the physical meaning is discotheque, movie theater, et cetera.
- One is like swine.
Luke 8:33
8:33. Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake and drowned.
- One is like those who fed the swine.
Luke 8:34
8:34. When those who fed themsaw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country.
We learn the third one, namely
one is like those who fed the swine.
Luke 8:34-37
8:34. When those who fed themsaw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country.
8:35. Then they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.
8:36. They also who had seen it told them by what means he who had been demon–possessed was healed.
8:37. Then the whole multitude of the surrounding region of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. And He got into the boat and returned.
One who fed the swine means as follows:
- One serves and ministers God, but looking for physical things only or hunting flesh.
- One loves swine more than the person who is healed and saved by God, so he asks Jesus to depart from him.
- One holds sins.
One who fed the swine is one who is not shepherded, but walks about like
Esau.
Genesis 25:2725:27. So the boys grew. And Esauwas a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacobwas a mild man, dwelling in tents. The facts found in not being shepherded or walking about like Esau or one who fed the swine are as follows:
- Despisingeven selling the birthright.
Genesis 25:29-34
25:29. Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary.
25:30. And Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary." Therefore his name was called Edom.
25:31. But Jacob said, "Sell me your birthrightas of this day."
25:32. And Esau said, "Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?"
25:33. Then Jacob said, "Swear to me as of this day." So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.
25:34. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.
It is the lust of the flesh.
Despising and selling the birthright means as follows:
- Easing or sacrificing spiritual thing (ministry, true teaching word, holiness and salvation from the Heaven) for getting physical one only.
- Refusing purification or the work of true teaching Word.
James 1:18
1:18. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruitsof His creatures.
Esau kept sinning, so he lived for sin up to the peak of sin, namely sin of eating-drinking and marrying-giving in marriage.
Consequently, he wept forever in the place that was full of weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Genesis 25:34
25:34. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

- Rejecting the tearing of flesh or the cross.
Genesis 26:34-35
26:34. When Esau was forty years old, he took as wives Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite.
26:35. And they were a grief of mindto Isaac and Rebekah.
Deuteronomy 7:1, 3-4
7:1. "When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittitesand the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you,
7:3. "Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son.
7:4. "For they will turn your sons away from following Me, to serve other gods; so the anger of the LORD will be aroused against you and destroy you suddenly.
The number forty means flesh crucifixion, but Esau took wife of the Hittite who had been forbidden by God. Esau refused the tearing of the flesh even followed his flesh desire and entered mixed-marriage.

Consequently, his life makes the heart of parents sore, the heart of the shepherd lament and the heart of God grieved.
If one refuses the cross, his life will be in a muddle.
Genesis 6:2, 6
6:2. that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
6:6. And the LORD was sorrythat He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
If the heart of the Lord is sorry, God's punishment will come, so we experience weeping and gnashing of teeth.
- Losing the choice clothes.
Genesis 27:15
27:15. Then Rebekah took the choice clothes of her elder son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob her younger son.
Esau was not faithful in serving and ministering to God and the gift of Holy Spirit that He gives to him, so he lost the robe of service. Although we are great, but if we are not faithful, we surely loss everything.
Otherwise, although we are not great, but we are faithful, it will cover our weakness.

At last, Esau lost the choice clothes. It means he lost beautiful future and his life was dark.
Esau was not shepherded so he wept forever. He lived without love and lost everything.
In the New Testament, Peter was not shepherded or his life was without love, so he denied Jesus three times. Peter should have perished, but he was saved by the crow of rooster. The crow of rooster is repeated shepherding Word. Peter realized, confessed his sins and became shepherded life again.
John 21:15-17
21:15. So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs."
21:16. He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep."
21:17. He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.Jesus asked Peter three times about the love and shepherding. If refers to perseverance in three kinds of main service, namely shepherding. We must enter the shepherding so we can receive the love of God.
John 21:18-1921:18. "Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish."
21:19. This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."In the shepherding, we experience the love of God and we can stretch out our hand to Him.
It means as follows:
- We can submit and obey God.
- We can surrender our whole life to God and love Him more than anything.
1 Peter 5:5-7
5:5. Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."
5:6. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
5:7. casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
- One willingly sacrifices physical things for God or spiritual ones.
- Trusting and crying to God, and He will stretch out His powerful right hand.
The results are as follows:
- The right hand of God is able to take care of us in the middle of trouble of the world until the impossibility of the world in the age of antichrist.
- The right hand of God is able to finish all problems up to the impossible ones, defeat Satan, and give peace, and there is no more fear.
Psalms 118:15
118:15. The voice of rejoicing and salvation Is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.
- The right hand of God exalts us in His time.
Psalms 118:16
118:16. The right hand of the LORD is exalted; The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.
It means God will give beautiful and successful future in due time and we are used by Him.
We are used in the revival of the building of the body of Christ.
Being exalted also means that we are purified and renewed continuously up to being perfect like Him when He comes a second time.
God blesses us.
