Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 5:1-5
5:1. So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God5:2. and saw two boatsstanding by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets.
5:3. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
5:4. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch."
5:5. But Simon answered and said to Him, "Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net."The main purpose of our service and ministry to God isto hear the Word of God. Otherwise, we are far from the Heaven.
If the purpose of our service is correct, we are pressing about Him. We feel the presence of Jesus in the midst of us to help, beautify and purify us.
'
two boats' refers to two people.
These boats are in failure.
How great a manis, without the Word of God, he will fail in the midst of the ocean of the worldand so will we. In our marriage, we have to prioritize the Word of God. Without it, our marriage does not experience God's presence. Consequently, it is dry, empty, failed and ruined.
Luke 5:5-6
5:5. But Simon answered and said to Him, "Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net."
5:6. And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
Our attitude to the Word of God iswe do not criticize and debate, but
hear and obey the Word of Godeven it contradicts our mind that we can experience the power of the Word of God to create something that does not exist yet, change impossible thing into possible one (helping from God).
After we are blessed and helped by God, we have to keep two things as follows:
- Do not be arrogant.
If we are arrogant, we begin to disobey the Word, be unfaithful, rebel and criticize the Word.
When we are arrogant, we lose the blessing of God. Moreover, we lose our salvation.
- Do not sink.
Luke 5:7
5:7. So they signaled to their partnersin the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
It means, we have to enter into fellowship, starting from fellowship in marriage, shepherding and inter shepherding.
If we are alone, we will sink.
The terms to enter into the building of the perfection of the body of Christ are as follows:
- Do not be egoistic.
Egoism often happens in two things as follows:
- In blessing, we have to remember others and God, the Blessing Giver.
We have to remember others in need.
- In duty.
The main duty of husbandis loving his wife like himself and not being harsh.
By doing this, the husband will be able to do other duties such as looking for money and deciding all things based on the Word.
The main duty of wifeis to submit to husband in everything.
By doing this, the wife can do other duty such as protecting the weakness of the husband and children through worship.
The main duty of childis easing the parent's burden.
Matthew 18:19
18:19. "Again I say to you that if two of you agreeon earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for themby My Father in heaven.
If the husband and wife (plus child) become one, the marriage will become the house of prayer. Our prayer will be answered by God and love of God is poured out in the marrriage.
- Confessing and forgiving one another.
Luke 5:8
5:8. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!"
Do not blame one another, but we confess and forgive one another, finish sin, and nail it on the cross. The sin is finished by the blood of Jesus and everything becomes easy and light.
Being easy and lightmeans our life starts to be lifted up by God.
- The fisherman becomesthe fisher of men.
Luke 5:10
5:10. and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men."
It means we become the priests and kings. We enter into the ministry of the building of the body of Christ.
We are used as living stones and we live by the mercy of God.
I Peter 2:5
2:5. you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
In ministry, God does not burdenus, but He is giving beauty and success in our lives.
The fisherman becomes the fisher of men also means we experience the biggest miraclenamely the renewal of life from carnal men to spiritual ones like Jesus.
The renewal of life starts from no more lie.
The spiritual miracle happens and the physical one will happen too. There is always new wine in our marriage.
If Jesus comes a second time, we will be changed up to perfect like God and we enter into the marriage supper of the Lamb.
God blesses us.
