Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 9:18-21
9:18. And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, "Who do the crowds say that I am?"
9:19. So they answered and said, "John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again."
9:20. He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said, "The Christ of God."
9:21. And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one,
Confession and recognition of Jesus determine our success in following Him, starting from in this world until entering the eternal kingdom of Heaven.
There are many people who recognize and confess Jesus as John the Baptist and Elijah. It means the ones in physical activity (physical miracle). If we just recognize Jesus in physical miracles, we can be deceived by false prophet who is able to do the great miracles.
Peter confesses and recognizes Jesus correctly, namely Jesus as
Messiah, the Son of the living God.
Messiah means
One who is Anointed.
There are three anointed offices as follows: the king, the high priest and the priests (servant), and the prophet (human).
Matthew 16:1616:16. Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Peter also knows Jesus as the Son of God.
Recognizing Jesus as the king, servant, human and Son of God means
recognizing Jesus through His cross.
The practices of recognizing and confessing the cross of Jesus are as follows:
- Recognizing and confessing Jesus as the King of kings and the servant.
- Recognizing and confessing Jesus as human and Son of God.
ad 1.
Confessing and recognizing Jesus as the King of kings and the servant.
Jesus is the King of kings and the High Priest (servant), so we have to become the priests and kings.
- The priest.
1 Peter 2:9-10
2:9. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
2:10. who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Indeed, only the Israelites may become the priests and the kings.
Genetically, the Gentiles may not become the priest and the kings. That is why God opens the way through the way of God's mercy, namely Christ's sacrifice.
A priest is the true man, one who has ministry and ministers to God according to the one that God gives to him until the finish line.
If we live for righteousness and holiness, God will give the ministry to us.
- The king.
Psalms 20: 9
20: 9. Save, LORD! May the King answer us when we call.
The king is one who wins with Jesus. We must win over 3 things as follows:
- The death.
1 Corinthians 15:25-26
15:25. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.
15:26. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
The death means sins up to the peak of sin. Winning over the death means we live in righteousness anywhere, anytime, and whatever risk may come.
The process to win over the death is as follows:
- Believing Jesus by hearing the word of Christ (having faith).
- Repenting. It means one confesses sin. If it is forgiven, do not sin anymore.
- Water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism or being born again from water and spirit, so we receive new life (heavenly life).
Psalms 5:12
5:12. For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
If we live in righteousness, God will protect us with mercy and blessing, there is no curse or death.
- The world.
James 4:4
4:4. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the worldis enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
The world with all of its influences (pleasure, activity and difficulty) make the servant of God become unfaithful.
Isaiah 11:5
11:5. Righteousnessshall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulnessthe belt of His waist.
Winning over the world means we become the priest and the king who minister God faithfully and truly, so we wear the adornment of the belt and God will tidy and make our life more beautiful.
Revelation 19:11
19:11. Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
If we are faithful and true, we will be used by God in the revival of Holy Spirit in the last rain, starting from household (we ease parents' burden), in the shepherding until the perfect body of Christ.
- The flesh.
Romans 8:7
8:7. Because the carnal mindis enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
If we have the carnal mind, we cannot subject to the law of God, so we totally fail, lose the kingdom of Heaven, and perish forever.
So, winning over the flesh means we become obedient servant of God until the flesh does not sound anymore. It is the same as Jesus who became obedient to the point of death of the cross.
The results are as follows:
- We receive the power of Jesus' name to defeat Satan the trinity.
Philippians 2:8-10
2:8. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
2:9. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
2:10. that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
Jesus became obedient to the point of death of the cross, so He received the name which is above every name to defeat Satan the trinity.
If we become obedient until the flesh does not sound anymore, we receive the power of Jesus' name or the power of winning.
All problems are finished, tear is wiped, and failure is changed into success.
- The power of Jesus' name changes our life.
Philippians 2:11
2:11. and that every tongue should confessthat Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We experience the renewal of life from sinful carnal men to new ones like Jesus, starting from mouth. Mouth only speaks true thing and becomes blessing for others, to testify and worship God.
We are changed continuously until perfect when Jesus comes a second time.
God blesses us.
