Mark 15:20b-47 contains 7 thingsabout the misery of Jesus upon the cross.
ad. 7. Mark 15:42-47, the Crucifixion misery about His Funeral.
Mark 15:42-4515:42 Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
15:43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
15:44 Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time.
15:45 So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
Jesus has been buried means He is really dead.
If we are willing to die with Jesus, we will be revived with Jesus and glorified with Him.
Youth is the most beautiful period to us to be able to follow the cross.Pilate marveled that Jesus was already dead [Mark 15:44-45].According to human calculations, Jesus is supposed to be not dead yet like 2 robbers next to him whose legs had to be broken in the end. But in reality Jesus has already been dead, meaning
the plan of God will never be investigated by human intelligence. Jesus was willing to die to fulfill the plan of God in our life.Every plan in our life must be suitable to the plan of God. If it is out of the plan of God, everything will be useless and perished.
`
There are 2 great plans of God to our life:
- The plan of calling and election of the Lord.
Romans 8:28-30
8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to [His] purpose.
8:29. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined [to be] conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
8:30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified..
THE CALLING OF THE LORD.
Acts 2:36-40
2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
2:37 Nowwhen they heard [this], they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men [and] brethren, what shall we do?"
2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
2:39 "For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
2:40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation."
We are called for being justified by the Lord. Process for being justified/saved:
- Knowing assuredly = Faith = Believing in Jesus.
Jesus is the only innocent human who can save the sinful people.
- Repenting, means quitting sin and returning to God.Being dead to sin.
- Having new life from God by the water baptism and the Holy Spirit baptism.
We were born in this world with having the world life that is not suitable to live in Heaven. Therefore, we need to have the new life by the water baptism and the Holy Spirit baptism.
Romans 6:2, 4
6:2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The true water baptism is like the way Jesus has been baptized, that is being buried in water.
By the water baptism and the Holy Spirit baptism, there will be a new kind of life, the kind of Heaven life.
THE ELECTION OF THE LORD.
We are elected for being sanctified by The Lord.
John15:1-3
15:1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
15:2"Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every [branch] that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
15:3 "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
The requirement to be able to live in sanctification is:
Like the branch that sticks to the true vine = Being shepherded to the true teaching Word.
We are sanctified by the Word which Jesus has spoken to us, meaning the Wordwhich is revealed through a verse explaining another verse in Holy Bible.
This sanctification begins from the heart that is the warehouse of sins. If the heart is sanctified, all our life will be sanctified.
Mark 7:21-23
7:21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
7:22 "thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.
7:23 "All these evil things come from within and defile a man."
If the heart is sanctified, all our life will also be sanctified.
The word "Bebal" (means foolishness) is the opposite of "Babel" (means Babylon).Foolishness means one cannot be advisedby the true teaching Word, cannot be advised by the priest/ the shepherd, also cannot be advised by parents. If you are foolish, you will head for Babylon.
Ephesians 4:11-12
4:11 And He Himself gave some [to be] apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
Being sanctified, we will be equipped with priest's office and the gifts of Holy Spirit. We are employed in the ministry of building Christ's body = we are lifted as priests and kings.
We are employed to minister God = we are glorified by Him.
Being employed by God, Everything will be good and sweet. The branch that sticks to the true vine sooner or later will bear sweet fruits.
- The Plan of Peace.
Jeremiah 29:11
29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Peace means:
- No war.
- No bitterness, jealousy, revenge.
- No fear, doub, worry.
- Being obedient to God.
Isaiah 48:18
48:18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
When there is a peace, the results are:
- The merciful hand of God gives a certainty guarantee to usin order to provide the beautifu land hopeful future [Jeremiah 29:11].
- The merciful hand of God crushes/destroys Satanwho is the source of temptations, failure, faill.
Romans 16:20
16:20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you. Amen.
Destroying Satan means every problem is solved, our life becomes successful, and we are lifted up by God.
- The merciful hand of God is capable to sanctify our life (our body, our soul, and our spirit)until we become perfect like Jesus and ready to welcome Jesus' second coming.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
5:23Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God never deceives us, He is faithful and He will fulfill His promises.
God blesses us.
