Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 9:43b-45
9:43b But while everyone marveled at all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples,
9:44. "Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men."
9:45. But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying.
Jesus told His suffering to the point of death on the cross twice, namely in Luke 9: 22-27 and Luke 9:43b-45.
There are two meanings of "
the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men" as follows:
- Jesus is willingly surrendered into the hand of men until He died on the cross to bear the men's sins.
It has been understood by many people.
- We must also receive Jesus who suffers to the point of death on the cross.
It is notunderstood by many people. Why?
Many people want to receive Jesus as the blessing giver, good healer, and good God, because it is comfortable for the flesh. But many people do not want to receive Jesus who suffers to the point of death on the cross because it is not comfortable for the flesh.
John 19:29-3019:29. Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth.
19:30. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.Jesus suffers to the point of death on the cross to finish all sins, the curse of sins, and all of our problems. The sin is our biggest problem. If Jesus is able to finish the sin, He is able to finish all of our problems too.
How can we receive Jesus who suffers to the point of death on the cross?
- Drinking the cup that Jesus is about to drink.
John 19:30
19:30. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
It means we must willingly suffer with Jesus to do the things as follows:
- Repenting or stopping sinning and living in righteousness.
1 Peter 4:1-2
4:1. Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
4:2. that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
- Being faithful in ministering to God.
2 Timothy 3:12
3:12. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
- Totally surrendering to God.
It means becoming obedient until our flesh does not sound anymore.
John 19:30
19:30. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
The flesh that does not sound anymore is like Abraham who was told to present Isaac.
Two possibilities that can happen are as follows:
- Rejecting Jesus.
It means one keeps sinning up to the peak of sin (sin of eating-drinking and marrying-giving in marriage). He does not become faithful in minister or obey God.
Revelation 16:17-18
16:17. Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done!"
16:18. And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth.
Consequently, one experiences God's punishment, starting from this world up to the hell.
- Receiving Jesus, namely we repent and live in righteousness, minister faithfully, and obey God until our flesh does not sound anymore.
Revelation 21:5-6
21:5. Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."
21:6. And He said to me, "It is done!I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
The result is we experience the renewal of life up to perfection. We become as glorious as God.
"It is done!"= "It is finished!" We are worthy to enter New Jerusalem.
Revelation 21:11
21:11. having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.
We must be renewed to become like crystal. It means we must be honest and have trust.
Being honest and having trust is the same as a baby who cries to God. We live in the hug of the hands of God.
Isaiah 49:15-16
49:15. "Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.
49:16. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.
So, God will always remember, regard, and heed us.
God inscribes us on the palms of His hands. It means God struggles for us and He does not forget us.
The results are as follows:
- God's merciful hands are able to take care of our life in the middle of the difficulties of the world and our powerlessness.
- God's merciful hands are able to give beautiful and successful future.
- God's merciful hands are able to finish all problems until the impossible ones.
For example, Mary and Martha face Lazarus who has been dead four days.
It means facing decay, ruin, failure, and impossibility.
If we are honest and trust God, He is able to finish all problems until the impossible ones.
- "Your walls are continually before Me" refers to God's protection from the fiery dart of the evil so we do not fall on the way, but we keep following God until He comes a second time. We keep living in righteousness and holiness.
If Jesus comes a second time, His hands will change us up to perfection so we are worthy to greet His second coming, until we enter the New Jerusalem, the eternal kingdom of heaven.
God blesses us.
