Matthew 26:26-29 can be divided into two parts as follows:
  1. Verse 26-28: the Holy Communion refers to the death of Jesus on the cross.
  2. Verse29: the resurrection and ascension of Jesus to heaven to drink new wine or heavenly joy.
    Matthew 26:29
26:29 "But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."
Ad. 2 The resurrection and ascension of Jesus to heaven to drink new wine or heavenly joy.
We will also enjoy the new wine or heavenly joy together with Jesus. It begins from now that we have to enjoy the new wine or heavenly joy in the world. In facts, the world is in curse, there is no new wine in it.

John 16:7
16:7. "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

From what can we get the new wine?
Jesus has to go away, meaning He must die, rise, and ascend to heaven in order to pour out heavenly joy for us in the world.

How can we get the new wine?
One of the ways to get the new wine is by fasting.

Matthew 9:14-17
9:14. Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?"
9:15 And Jesus said to them, "Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
9:16 "No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse.
9:17 "Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved."

The result of fasting is life renewal from carnal man to spiritual man or from clay pot to golden pot that had the manna.

There are two kinds of renewal as follows:
  1. The renewal of garment.
The garment refers to these things:
    • The clothes we wear. The physical clothes must be righteous and suitable for doing godliness and ministry. The woman must wear the proper clothes for woman and the man must wear the proper clothes for man.
    • The deeds. Carnal deeds must be changed to spiritual ones.

      Galatians 5:19-21
5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
5:21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

      Romans 12:17-21
12:17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.
12:18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
12:19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.
12:20 Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head."
12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The spiritual deeds are as follows:
      • Not repaying evil for evil or not sinning but always doing good things to all people.
      • Confessing and forgiving one another, we do not have any self-truth.
      • Repaying good for evil. We become same as God and He will make everything good in His time.

        Revelation 19:8
19:8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Repaying good for evil means we have the clean and bright fine linen of the Bride.

  2. The renewal of wineskins.
It refers to the renewal of heart.

    James 3:11-12
3:11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
3:12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

The heart that must be renewed is as follows:
    • Tasteless heart.
    • Bitter heart full of bitterness, hatred, revenge, et cetera.
    • Salty heart. It refers to the heap of salt or Babel, meaning the evil, unclean, and doubtful heart.

By fasting prayer, our heart is renewed to become sweet. The heart that is sweet is the obedient one. As a result, we can contain the sweet new wine, namely the power of Holy Spirit.

The function of the new wine or Holy Spirit is as follows:
    • Holy Spirit pours out the love of God, so we can be strong and of good courage.
      Romans 5:5
5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

The meaning of being strong and of good courage is as follows:
      • To keep holding fast the true teaching Word and rejecting the strange voice that causes many intersections.
      • To keepbelieving and entrusting our life to God in facing anything. We do not become hopeless or disappointed, and we do not leave God.
      • To keep living in righteousness and holiness whatever we have to face.

      I Chronicles 19:13

19:13 "Be of good courage, and let us be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. And may the LORD do what is good in His sight."

The result of being strong and of good courage is that the Lord will make everything good and sweet in His time.
    • Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Comforter, meaning as follows:
      • To comfort and to wipe our tears away when we are in sorrows or bitterness in heart because of Jesus.
      •   To give us peace and rest when we are in heavy burden and weariness. All things become easy, light, and sweet in His time.

    • Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Helper to perform many miraclesas follows:
      • Spiritual miracle is that our tongue can say honestly. Saying honestly means we say righteously or we can say "yes" if "yes" and "no" if "no."
      • Physical miracle is that the impossible things can be made possible. All problems are settled and sweet in His time.

We will become as glorious as Jesus is when He comes a second time. We enter heavenly kingdom to drink the new wine forever.
God blesses you.
