Speaker: Deacon Youpri ArdiantoroPeace and grace in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 27:51-53
27:51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
27:52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;
27:53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
The whole Matthew 27 refers to seven sprinklings of blood upon the mercy seat. Meaning the suffering Jesus experiences until He dies on the cross to save, sanctify, and perfect us.
Matthew 27:51-56 is the fifth passage, namely the miracles that happen when Jesus dies. There are miracles behind the sprinkling of blood.
The third miracle is the graves are opened and many bodies of the saints who have fallen asleep are raised. Coming out of the graves after Jesus’ resurrection, they go into the holy city, namely Jerusalem.
Isaiah 52:1
52:1 Awake, awake! Put on your strength, O Zion; Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean Shall no longer come to you.
It is a prophecy that the graves will be opened when Jesus comes a second time, and the holy people will come out of the graves to enter New Jerusalem.
Revelation 21:2
21:2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Revelation 21:9-10
21:9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife."
21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,Thus, Jesus experiences the sprinkling of blood until He dies on the cross to give us hope to become the Bride of God entering New Jerusalem.
How can we enter New Jerusalem?
We must experience the sprinkling of blood until our flesh does not speak anymore.
Matthew 27:52
27:52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;
The fact found in it is living in holiness. How can we live in holiness?
- By the blood of Jesus.
Hebrews 13:12
13:12Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.
1 John 1:9
1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The process is as follows.
- We confess our sin and do not repeat it after being forgiven.
If we can confess our sins seriously, the blood of Jesus will actively do these two things.
- To cover our sins until it seems we never do the sins at all.
- To pull out the roots of sins, so we will never do them anymore.
- We forgive the sins of other people.
Matthew 6:14-15
6:14 "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
6:15 "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
If we do not forgive other people, God will never forgive us, so our life cannot be sanctified.
- By the water.
Ephesians 5:26-27
5:26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
5:27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
It refers to water baptism.
Romans 6:2,4
6:2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
- The requirement is being dead to sin.
The water baptism must be done in right manner, namely being buried or dipped in water.
Afterwards, we can be sanctified and have new life, namely righteous life.
There are two false matters about water baptism as follows.
- Not being dead to sin yet, one is buried.
- Having been dead to sin, one does not want to be buried. Consequently, his life becomes rotten more and more.
1 Corinthians 10:2-5
10:2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
10:3 all ate the same spiritual food,
10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
10:5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
Exodus 12:38
12:38 A mixed multitude went up with them also, and flocks and herds -- a great deal of livestock.
Numbers 11:4
11:4 Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: "Who will give us meat to eat?
There are other nations or the mixed multitude among the house of Israel when they go out of Egypt. They refer to ones who are baptized of water not in serious manner but only to follow. Consequently, they only insist fleshly matters and perish.
- By the Word of God.
There are two kinds of the preaching of the Word of God as follows.
- Gospel of salvation as a swallow of water for the thirsty.
- Teaching Word as the rain water.
Deuteronomy 32:2
32:2 Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As raindrops on the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.
John 15:3
15:3 "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
The Word which sanctifies is the true teaching Word, namely the Word which is written in Bible, whose verse is explained by another verse.
We are sanctified in the Holy Place, referring to the sheepfold or perseverance in doing three main services to God as follows.
- Golden Candlestick or perseverance in doing General Service.
- Table of Showbread, namely perseverance in doing Bible Study Service with Holy Communion.
- Golden Altar of Incense or perseverance in doing Prayer Service.
We are sanctified intensively and continually in the sheepfold until we are holy and spotless.
The result of living in holiness is as follows.
- The Lord trusts us the ministry and the gifts of Holy Spirit.
Exodus 29:1
29:1 "And this is what you shall do to them to hallow them for ministering to Me as priests: Take one young bull and two rams without blemish,
The gift of Holy Spirit is wonderful ability to do the ministry we get from God.
The holy person is equipped with the ministry and the gifts of Holy Spirit and employed in the building of Christ’s perfect body.
Ephesians 4:12-16
4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
4:14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
4:15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head––Christ––
4:16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
- Jesus shows Himself as the True Vine and the Vinedresser.
John 15:1-3
15:1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
15:2 "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
15:3 "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
Jesus is the True Vine means He preserves and protects our life.
Jesus is the Vinedresser means He makes all things successful. He fights to provide all things as long as we live in holiness.
- We will not be ruled over by death.
Psalm 16:10
16:10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
The proof is we live in resurrection. The dead people will also be resurrected when Jesus comes a second time.
Hebrews 10:14
10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
The important matter is we live in holiness in our lifetime, so we will be perfected when Jesus comes a second time.
Hebrews 11:40
11:40 God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
One who is still alive when Jesus comes a second time will be changed in glorious body and the dead will be resurrected in glorious body also. Both of them will be one perfect body of Christ. The important matter is we live in holiness in our lifetime.
God blesses you.
