From the Record of Prayer Service in Tentena-PosoPeace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation 3:15-173:15. "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 3:16 "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
3:17 "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing' --and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked--
The condition of the church on the last days is the same as the church of the Laodiceans, namely being spiritually lukewarm.
The facts found in it are as follows:
- 'I am rich, have become wealthy'= only looking for and being satisfied by and proud of physical things.
- 'neither cold nor hot'= the spirituality decreases or becomes wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.
It means as follows:
- 'neither cold'= not being peaceful because of not being dead to sin, but keeping on hiding the sins of evil, uncleanness, and bitterness (envy, hatred, and so on)
- 'nor hot'= not getting the resurrection with Jesus because of not being dead to sin.
It means not being able to live in righteousness and faithfulness in the service and ministry to God.
- 'neither cold nor hot' = neither being dead nor raised = not experiencing the life renewal from the fleshly men to the spiritual ones, but keeping the man of blood and flesh who is sinful and cannot inherit the heavenly kingdom. Consequently, one cannot get the eternal life.
Why does the spiritual lukewarmness happen? It happens because of keeping 'I' ('
Iam rich, have become wealthy') as follows:
- The self truth.
It means covering sins by blaming at others and God. It causes the spiritual deterioration.
- If one has the self-truth, he will rely on his own power. God may bless us with riches, but we must not rely on it.
- Self interest or egoism.
- Self will or disobedience.
All of them are the same as arrogance.
The consequence is being vomited out of the mouth of God. It refers to something which is useless and disgusting and living in sins up to the peak, namely the sins concerning eating-drinking and marrying-being given in marriage. Finally, one is dry spiritually and separated from God forever.
Revelation 3:16
3:16. "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. This condition happens in the church of the Gentiles on the last days.
Revelation 3:19-213:19 "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
3:21 "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
The solution is through God's help as follows:
- Through the rebuke and advice or the preaching of the hard true teaching which is sharper than any two-edged sword to show our hidden sins.
2 Timothy 4:2
4:2. Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
Rebuking and exhorting are the same as sanctifying us so that we return to holiness or we are lifted up from the spiritual lukewarmnes.
- Through the chastening.
Every preaching of the hard teaching Word is the stretching out of God's hands to help and lift us up.
Ignoring or rejecting it, the cord of God's love will be spun to be a whip of chastening or total test in all aspects of life. Nevertheless, it is still the love of God to us to make us return to the holiness and be lifted up from the spiritual lukewarmness.
Thus, the hard teaching Word which is added with the chastening is the longsuffering of God to knock the door of our heart.
Revelation 3:20
3:20. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Keeping the hard heart or closing the door of the heart and not repenting, one will be vomited by God. It means the everlasting perdition.
Therefore, we must be meek. It is the same as opening the door of the heart or confessing to others and God.
The examples of the meek are as follows:
- A harlot.
Luke 7:36-38
7:36. Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat.
7:37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knewthat Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,
7:38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
She had many infirmities, weakness, and sins up to the peak. Nevertheless, she willingly heard the hard teaching Word and confessed her sins, so she was forgiven.
The woman had the fragrant oil. It means that she was rich. Nevertheless, she fell down at Jesus' feet when the Word touched her. She confessed her sins and all things were finished.
- Job.
Job 32:1-2
32:1. So these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
32:2 Then the wrath of Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was aroused against Job; his wrath was aroused because he justified himself rather than God.
Job (a man) could be meek after undergoing a total test.
He could confess that he had the self-truth or covered sins by blaming at others and God or the true teaching Word.
It means that Job also confessed that he often relied on his power, interest, and will.
Job 42:5-6
42:5. "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.
42:6 Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes."
Job confessed all things until he repented in dust and ashes.
Let us be meek and open the door of our heart like Job and the woman who anointed Jesus. We confess all things until we admit that we are only like clay which is not worthy with our many weaknesses physically and spiritually (our many sins). We cannot do anything without the mercy of God and anointing of Holy Spirit.
Revelation 3: 203:20. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
If we willingly get meek and confess that we are only the clay, God will come in to us and dine with us. It means that He has the fellowship with us and is always with us. He stretches out His merciful hands and the anointing of Holy Spirit to us. He embraces us with His merciful hands and the anointing of Holy Spirit.
The results are as follows:
- 'dine with him'= the supper.
It means that we get the atmosphere of the feast of heaven as follows:
- We get the abundant physical blessings until we can give thanks and become blessings for others.
- Spiritually, we get the peace. All things become easy and light. We get the heavenly joy and satisfaction. We do not need to look for the worldly satisfaction anymore.
- God is on our side. Who can be against us? The hands of God's mercy are able to defeat all enemies.
- All doors are open. There is solution of every impossible problem. God makes war instead of us.
- The door of the beautiful and successful future life is open.
- The hands of God's mercy are able to open the door of the heavenly kingdom for us.
Revelation 3:21
3:21. "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
It means sanctifying and renewing us until we become the same perfect as Him. The rotten things are changed into the fragrant ones. One who feels great and true by his own life is changed until he can confess that he is nothing. We only rely on God. Let Him help us.
It continues until the time when Jesus comes a second time that we are lifted up to sit with Him on the heavenly throne forever.
God blesses you.
