Matthew 27 refers to
seven sprinkling of blood upon the Ark of Covenant.
It means the suffering Jesus experiences until He dies on the cross to save, to sanctify, and to perfect the congregation.
The first sprinkling of blood is
Jesus handed over to Pilate and the death of Judas Iscariot [Matthew 27:1-10].
Matthew 27:1-527:1. When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death.
27:2 And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
27:3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 27:4 saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!"
27:5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.Judas Iscariot rejected the sprinkling of blood or suffering with Jesus so he sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver.
Exodus 21:3221:32 "If the ox gores a male or female servant, he shall give to their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned. The thirty pieces of silver equals to the price of an ox which likes to gore. Such ox must be stoned.
The ox refers to a servant. Jesus is a good ox, referring to the servant of God who is obedient to the point of death on the cross.
The ox which likes to gore refers to antichrist and false prophets.
Antichrist is the servant of God who rejects the cross or the sprinkling of blood so there is no renewal in life because of keeping carnality. It means there is disobedience to God even rebellion. It equals to not loving God and such servant will be accursed.
1 Corinthians 16:2216:22 If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come! False prophet is the servant of God who teaches false teaching that is not in line with bible as well as the servant of God who receives and follows the teaching that is not in line with the bible. Such servant is accursed.
Galatians 1:91:9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Thus, antichrist and false prophet are the servants of God who are accursed or men who are accursed or the oxen which like to gore. There will be only perdition forever for them.
Jesus is the servant of God who is obedient or good ox, but he is willing to be sold for thirty pieces of silver.
Galatians 3:13-143:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"),
3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. It equals to Jesus’ willingness to become goring ox. He is willing to die in curse on the cross. Why is it so?
- To redeem us from our sin and the curse so we do not become cursed man as antichrist and false prophet who will perish for sure.
- To pour out the blessings of Abraham to the Gentiles, namely physical blessings up to our descendants and spiritual blessing that is Holy Spirit in our life.
How great a man is in the world, without Holy Spirit he is only as an orphan.
Meaning as follows.
- There is no power, no hope.
- There is neither life renewal nor salvation.
Flowing from that reason, the Lord promises to pour out Holy Spirit.
Acts 19:1-619:1. And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples
19:2 he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit."
19:3 And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John’s baptism."
19:4 Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus."
19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
19:6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. The process of receiving Holy Spirit is as follows.
- Believing in Jesus through hearing the Word righteously.
- Repenting. We stop sinning and we return to God. We die to sin.
- Being baptized of water.
One who has repented or died to sin must be buried in water together with Jesus to rise in new life, namely life in righteousness and peace.
Righteous peaceful life is the strong foundation to receive the blessings of Abraham, namely physical blessings and spiritual one or Holy Spirit.
The function of Holy Spirit is as follows.
- Holy Spirit as east wind dividing Red Sea.
Exodus 14:21-22
14:21. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
14:22 So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
Meaning as follows.
- The power of Holy Spirit is able to preserve our life physically in the midst of impossibilities in the world. He also preserves our spiritual life so we can live in righteousness and we are delivered from the slavery of sin or Pharaoh.
- The power of Holy Spirit is able to give us solution of all problems, to settle all problems even the impossible ones.
- The power of Holy Spirit is able to give us beautiful future life. He guides us to beautiful future life.
- The power of Holy Spirit employs us in the revival of Holy Spirit at the latter rain or the building of Christ’s body nothing may hinder.
- Holy Spirit as living water.
John 7:37-39
7:37. On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
7:38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
7:39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Meaning as follows.
- The power of Holy Spirit is able to give us real satisfaction or joy nothing in the world may influence. We do not seek other satisfaction in the world that can cause sinning up to the peak.
- The power of Holy Spirit encourages us to confess our sin. Do not repeat the sin after being forgiven. We experience real satisfaction or heavenly joy.
- The power of Holy Spirit encourages us to bear witness.
- Holy Spirit as the flame of fire.
Acts 2:1-4
2:1. When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
2:3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The power of Holy Spirit is able to renew us from carnal man to spiritual one as Jesus is. It begins from mouth that does not lie but say righteously and worship God.
It continues until Jesus comes a second time that we are renewed to become as glorious as Jesus is. We do not stumble in words and we are perfect as Jesus is.
God blesses you.
