Speaker: Rev. Mikha Sanda TodingPeace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 16:13-2016:13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?"
16:14 So they said, "Some sayJohn the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
16:15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed thisto you, but My Father who is in heaven.
16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
16:19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
16:20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.Messiah means the One who is anointed.
At the age of Israel, there are three offices that are anointed as follows:
- King.
1 Samuel 16:13
16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lordcame upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
The example is David that is anointed to become King.
Jesus is King or the life that is anointed.
Revelation 19:6
19:6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!
- Priest.
Exodus 29:19
29:19 "You shall also take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the ram.
Aaron and his sons put their hands on the head of the ram. Now, Jesus as the Head puts His hand to anoint the priests. Jesus is the High Priest.
Hebrews 7:17
7:17 For He testifies: "Youarea priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek."
We are the priests who follow Jesus as the High Priest. We must be anointed with Holy Spirit and minister God forever. It cannot be limited by time.
- Prophetor the mediator between God and men.
1 Timothy 2:5
2:5 For there isone God and one Mediator between God and men, theMan Christ Jesus,
Peter says Jesus is Messiah, the Son of God who lives. Peter knows Jesus as the King, High Priest, and Prophet.
We know the persona of Jesus who anointed us. We also must receive the anointing of Holy Spirit. God anoints us with Holy Spirit and gives the gifts of Holy Spirit so our life can result in the fruits of Spirit. We please God. The death cannot touch our life anymore. The persona of Father God, the Son of God, Holy Spirit God (the Lord Jesus Christ) overlay our life. Without Holy Spirit, men will appear like a beast and it does not please God.
The activities of Holy Spirit in our life are as follows:
- Anointing our life.
The steps are as follows:
- Having faith through hearing the Word in the anointing of Holy Spirit.
Romans 10:17
10:17 So then faith comesby hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
We hear the Word solemnly until It becomes faith in our heart.
Hebrews 11:1
11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
- Holy Spirit tells us about sins.
John 16:7-9
16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
16:8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
16:9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
We confess the sins and live in righteousness and repentance.
- Fearing God.Isaiah 11:1-3
11:1 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
11:2 The Spirit of the Lordshall rest upon Him,The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,The Spirit of counsel and might,The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
11:3 His delight isin the fear of the Lord,and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes,nor decide by the hearing of His ears;
We do not want to sin until we hate it.
Proverbs 8:13
8:13 The fear of the Lordisto hate evil;Pride and arrogance and the evil wayand the perverse mouth I hate.
It means we become newborn.
Galatians 3:26-27
3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
The Father God, the Son of God, and Holy Spirit God that is Lord Jesus Christ control our life so the death cannot touch us.
1 Corinthians 15:54-56
15:54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
15:55 "O Death, where isyour sting?O Hades, whereisyour victory?"
15:56 The sting of death issin, and the strength of sin isthe law.
- Holy Spirit fills our life.
Acts 2:1-4
2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
2:3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and onesat upon each of them.
2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The first sign of the fullness of Holy Spirit the tongues as the Spirit gives us utterance, but it is not the only sign.
Romans 8:13-15
8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
Holy Spirit leads and fills us so we can be obedient and live in righteousness and holiness.
- Holy Spirit gives gifts.
1 Corinthians 12:4, 8-10, 28
12:4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
12:8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,
12:9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,
12:10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another differentkinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
12:28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.
The condition to receive the gifts of Holy Spirit is we must be purified by the true teaching Word.
Acts 20:32-33
20:32 "So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
20:33 I have coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel.
We are purified from the pride of flesh things (the wealth, cleverness, standing, et cetera). We are also purified from uncleanness (the sin of eating-drinking and marrying-being given in marriage).
Luke 17:26-27
17:26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
17:27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
We are also purified from the will of evilness that makes us greedy and stingy.
1 Timothy 6:10
6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds ofevil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
We are also purified from false teaching that leads to death.
Thus, we can serve with the power of God. Holy Spirit gives gifts so the difficult task can be easy, all problems can be solved by God.
- Holy Spirit dwells in our life.
Hebrews 9:3-4
9:3 and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All,
9:4 which had the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which werethe golden pot that had the manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant;
The Aaron's rod that budded refers to Holy Spirit that is poured to stay in our life.
Acts 2:16-17
2:16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
2:17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.
Holy Spirit is poured and stays in our life so we are not controlled by flesh but Holy Spirit. We do not hope in others but God.
Romans 5:5
5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
We are not disappointed, in despair, or proud of anything.
Galatians 5:22-23
5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
5:23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Until we result in the fruits of the Spirit as follows:
- Love, joy, and peace = the characters of Father God.
- Longsuffering, kindness, and goodness = the characters of the Son of God.
- Faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control = the characters of Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:26-27
1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
1:27 So God created man in His ownimage; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
If we have the image of the Trinity of God, we will experience the power of creation from something that does not exist yet; the impossible becomes possible to care our life. We are given the power of victory over Satan and the power of death.
Genesis 1:31
1:31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it wasvery good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
We experience the power of perfection. Holy Spirit is able to make something bad become good until perfect. The example is Holy Spirit raised Lazarus that had died for four days.
Until Jesus comes a second time, we are perfected to enter the New Jerusalem.
Revelation 21:4
21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
God blesses us.
