Matthew 26:69-75is about
"Peter denied Jesus"
Peter denied Jesus three times. The first denial can be read in verse 69-70.
Peter denied Jesus of Galilee
Matthew 26:69-70
26:69 Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee."
26:70 But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are saying." Matthew 4:18-20
4:18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
4:19 Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
4:20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
Peter denied Jesus of Galilee, meaning
Peter denied the calling and election of God.
We have to be watchful and pray to keep being in the calling and election of God.
Peter wrote his experience in the epistle of Peter.
2 Peter 1:10
1:10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;
We have to keep
faithful or firm and obedient in the calling and election of God.
If we are not faithful, all things will become useless.
We have to be alert
lest we stumbleuntil being disobedient and unfaithful and leaving the calling and election of God.
2 Peter 1:11
1:11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We have to be watchful in our prayer
in order to become obedient and faithful in the calling and ministry up to the end line, until Jesus comes a second time and we have full right to enter the eternal heavenly kingdom.
The signs of being called and elected by God are as follows:
- Leaving nets and following Jesus.
Matthew 4:20
4:20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
Meaning as follows.
- Leaving sins, repenting.
We have to be alert the most in the vineyard, referring to our ministry, so we do not have envy, anger, or murmuring.
Being called and elected by God, we have to stop sinning.
- Leaving our old life, being renewed from carnal men to spiritual ones or from fishermen to fishers of men, or from mortar pot to golden pot.
The practice is as follows.
- Setting our mind to spiritual matters more than the physical ones. Do not prioritize the physical matters because they are only as supplements.
- Sacrificing physical matters in order to get the spiritual ones.
On the other hand, one has not had the calling and election of God when he sacrifices spiritual matters in order to get the physical ones.
If we dare sacrifice the physical matters to get the spiritual ones, all matters in our life are God’s concerning. He who calls us will be responsible and never fools us.
- Casting net and drawing it.
Matthew 4:18
4:18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
Casting net means as follows.
- Preaching the Word of God, both the Gospel and the true teaching Word.
- Bearing witness about the Gospel and the teaching Word.
The Gospel is for sinful people, so they can believe in Jesus and be saved.
The teaching Word is for the people who have been saved so they can enter the oneness of Christ’s body.
Drawing net means as follows.
- Being active to serve many people.
- Being active to visit, remind, phone, pick up, and accompany, et cetera, other people to go to church until they are firm to become the member of Christ’s body.
Be alert lest the last become the first or the first become the last.
- Mending net.
Matthew 4:21
4:21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them,
If we are in the activity of leaving our net to follow Jesus as well as the activity of casting and drawing the net, we will be in the activity of mending the net. Meaning Jesus is finishing all matters.
The guarantee is Jesus’ crying "It is finished" on the cross after He drank sour wine and yielded up His spirit. The word "It is finished" cannot be cancelled and changed. He will finish or tidy all things. The guarantee is His sacrifice on the cross.
God tidies our life, beginning from our heart. If our heart is good, all matters will become good, both in physical life and spiritual one.
Being called and elected, we do not rely anymore on our brain on which people of the world often rely their lives, but to our heart.
1 John 3:19-22
3:19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.
3:20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
3:21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
3:22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
God tidies our heart first through our confessing sin and forgiving one another until there is no accusation.
If our heart is tidy, we have confidence to go near God and we can worship Him. As a result, we experience miracle that God tidies our nets.
- The net refers to our daily life. If we bow down much more at the altar of God, He is able to tidy our daily life up to the beautiful future life and the eternal one.
- The net also refers to our ministry. He is able to tidy our ministry in marriage, shepherding, inter-shepherding, and the perfect body of Christ. We are employed to please God.
- The Lord will also finish problems in our marriage and children.
Acts 9:32-34
9:32 Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda.
9:33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed.
9:34 And Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed." Then he arose immediately.
God will tidy all things until “It is done!” in New Jerusalem. We will be sanctified until we are blameless.
Revelation 21:5-6
21:5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."
21:6 And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
God blesses you.
