Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation 3:1-6 is about the church in Sardis.
In Revelation 3:1-4, there are
three groups of the church in Sardis, as follows:
- The group of people that have a name that they are alive but they are dead.
Revelation 3:1
3:1 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: "I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.
- The group that is ready to die.
Revelation 3:2
3:2 "Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.
- The group that shall walk with Jesus in white garment.
Revelation 3:4
3:4 "You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.
This is the following of the disciples.
Matthew 8:18-27 is about following Jesus.
There are three groups of those who follow Jesus, as follows:
- The group of the scribe [Matthew 8:18-20]. It is the group of people that have a name that they are alive but they are dead.
- The group of a disciple who buries the dead [Matthew 8:21-22]. It is the group that is ready to die.
Matthew 8:21
8:21 Then another of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."
- The group of twelve disciples who follow Jesus on boat [Matthew 8:23-27]. It is the group who is worthy to walk with Jesus in white garment.
The journey of following Jesus is like crossing the sea on boat. We always face the tempest and waves.
The tempestrefers to the impossible temptations in all things, the sins up to the peak of sin.
The wavesrefer to the false teachings.
The tempest and waves are blown by Satan to make the faith fall so we cannot reach the peaceful haven (it is the marriage supper of the Lamb, a thousand years kingdom of peace, and until the New Jerusalem). It means we are perdition forever.
Be watchful, among twelve disciples who are worthy to walk with Jesus, there is one who falls namely Judas Iscariot. He cannot stand for the waves of temptation that is the bond of money and the tempest of the scribe’s teaching that is against Jesus’.
Matthew 8:23-248:23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 8:24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. The tempest and waves come suddenly in
unpredictable time. While the disciples are facing the tempest and waves, Jesus is sleeping.
He sleeps means He has no passion to help or answer our prayer. Why is it like that? Because our following (ministry) is only looking for physical things. Following Jesus is only with emotion or lust thought. It means there is no faith.
Jesus stirs up if our following (ministry) is prioritizing His persona or the true teaching Word. Then, He will rise and rebuke the tempest and waves so they become calm.
The conditions of worship prayer that stirs up God’s heart are as follows:
- It is encouraged by the truth and Spirit.
John 4:23-24
4:23 "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
4:24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
John 17:17
17:17 "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
The truth is the purifying Word. The Spirit is the Holy Spirit. Thus, the true worship is encouraged by the true teaching Word in anointing of Holy Spirit, the Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword. The Word purifies our heart and whole life.
Matthew 15:19
15:19 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
- There is an honesty.
Proverbs 15:8
15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.
Being honest starts from godly matters (it is about teaching), and in confessing the sin until we are honest in all things.
- Crying out Jesus name in faith.
Matthew 8:25-26
8:25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!"
8:26 But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
We only trust and entrust our life fully to Jesus. The result is God helps us in due time so there is a great calm. The miracle happens and all problems are solved by God even the impossible ones. There is a successful and beautiful future. There are peace and joy of heaven, everything becomes light and easy.
God leads us to the peaceful haven, the New Jerusalem.
Psalm 107:30
107:30 Then they are glad because they are quiet; So He guides them to their desired haven.
It means we are changed from carnal man to spiritual one like Jesus. We can obey until the flesh does not sound anymore.
Matthew 8:27
8:27 So the men marveled, saying, "Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obeyHim?"
Until Jesus comes a second time, we are changed to become as glorious as He is, we enter the marriage supper of the Lamb, a thousand years kingdom of peace, and the New Jerusalem.
God blesses us.
