(To Coincide with Fasting Prayer Service Session III)
Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation 3:73:7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”There are
three appearances of Jesus for the church in Philadelphiaas follows:
- Jesus appears as One who is true, to call and right the congregation.
- Jesus appears as One who is holy, to choose and purify the congregation.
- Jesus appears as One who has the key of David to give it to the congregation.
The key of David in physical meaningis the key of kingdom of Israel that is held by King David and it is given to the one who is worthy to receive, namely Solomon.
The key of David in spiritual meaningis the key of kingdom of Heaven that is held by Jesus and it is given to the one who is worthy to receive, namely the servant of God who perseveres in faith, experiences the suffering willingly because of Jesus, and obeys His will.
Matthew 7:21-237:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
7:23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’Even though one has great ministry but if he disobeys God, he is the one who practices lawlessness and he is driven from Heaven.
The example of obedience is Jesus.
Hebrews 5:8-105:8 though He was a Son, yetHe learned obedience by the things which He suffered.
5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
5:10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,”Jesus obeys the Word even though He suffers in flesh until dies on the cross. Thus, He is lifted up to become the High Priest who sits on the right hand of the Father God in Heaven. So we must follow the obedience of Jesus that we can hold the key of David, enter the kingdom of Heaven, and sit together with Him on the throne of Heaven.
The process of obedience of Jesus that we must followis as follows:
- At the Jordan, entering the water baptism.
Matthew 3:13-17
3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.
3:14 And John tried toprevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”
3:15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be sonow, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”Then he allowed Him.
3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
3:17 And suddenly a voice camefrom heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Jesus is being baptized to fulfill the will of Father of God or obey Him. Jesus obeys even though He must sacrifice His dignity, humble Himself, and be lowly in heart.
We must humble ourselves so we can be baptized like Jesus.
Romans 6:4
6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The true water baptism is one who dies from sin (repents) must be buried in water together with Jesus and raised (come out from water) together with Jesus to receive the new life that is living in anointing of Holy Spirit [Matthew 3:16].
1 Peter 3:19-22
3:19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison,
3:20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while theark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
3:22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.
The new life is having the good conscience that is controlled by Holy Spirit so we can obey. The obedient heart is the strong base to receive the blessing of God, namely the spiritual and physical blessing and the employment of God. The obedient heart will also lift up us to the throne of Heaven.
- In the garden of Gethsemane.
Mark 14:36
14:36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all things arepossible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
Jesus obeys even though He must sacrifice His will. We must also sacrifice our will or flesh so we can obey God. The worship prayer is the process of ripping the flesh and its will so we can receive the will of God and obey Himwhatever the risk may come. If we walk in God’s will, there is nothing impossible for Him.
- On the cross.
Philippians 2:8-9
2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point ofdeath, even the death of the cross.
2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
Jesus obeys until sacrifices Himself on the cross. We must also obey until the flesh does not sound anymore, surrender fully, worship, and stretch out our hands to God.
The example is as follows:
- Moses faces the sea and the army of Pharaoh.
It is facing the death physically, disaster, and the impossible problem. It is also the spiritual death in and sin up to the peak of sins (the sin of eating-drinking and marrying-being given in marriage).
Exodus 14:21
14:21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lordcaused the sea to go backby a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
Moses stretches out his hands to God. Then, God stretches out His hands to divide the sea. There is a way out from all problems; everything is finished by God, even the impossible ones. There is beautiful future. We are employed in the building of the perfect Body of Christ.
- The woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years.
Mark 5:28
5:28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
It means the moral decay, the destruction of marriage and children, and the impossible illness.
The woman stretches out her hands to touch God. Then, God stretches out His hands to heal and recover the marriage and children.
- Jesus.
Matthew 27:50-51
27:50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
27:51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
Jesus obeys until death, the veil is ripped so the Ark of Covenant can be seen.
If we obey, we will experience the purification. Until Jesus comes a second time, we are changed to become perfect as He is, we are worthy to receive the key of David to enter the kingdom of Heaven.
God blesses us.
