Speaker: Deacon Youpri ArdiantoroMark 9:38-419:38 Now John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.”
9:39 But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me.
9:40 For he who is not against us is on our side.
9:41 For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward. The practices of staying at God’s sideare as follows:
- [Verse 38] Crying out Jesus’ name.
- [Verse 41] Following Jesus.
- Gathering together with Jesus.
We are learning the first point, namely crying out Jesus’ name.
Philippians 2:8-112:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point ofdeath, even the death of the cross.
2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
2:11 and thatevery tongue should confess that Jesus Christ isLord, to the glory of God the Father.Jesus obeys until He dies on the cross so He gets a name which is above every name.
The functions of Jesus’ name are as follows:
- [Verse 10] Defeating Satan the trinity, the source of sins, problems, and temptations.
By the name of Jesus, we win from Satan the trinity.
Luke 24:47
24:47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
The proof is repenting, stopping sinning and returning to God.
Five among the seven of churches at the last days still need repentance.
Revelation 2:4-5
2:4 Nevertheless I have thisagainst you, that you have left your first love.
2:5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repentand do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.
Revelation 2:14, 16
2:14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.
2:16 Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.
Revelation 2:22
2:22 Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repentof their deeds.
Revelation 3:2-3
3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.
3:3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
Revelation 3:19
3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
- Renewing us.
Matthew 28:19
28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
The true water baptism results in new life that is living in righteousness and having the sincere heart like a dove.
Psalm 55:7
55:7 Indeed, I would wander far off, andremain in the wilderness.
The sincere heart can be shepherded and persevere in three main services in shepherding.
Song of Solomon 2:14
2:14 “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,in the secret placesof the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice;for your voice issweet, and your face islovely.”
The sincere heart can hold fast the true teaching Word whatever the risk may come.
- Caring and gathering us to become one body of Christ that is perfect.
John 17:11
17:11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.
Psalm 138:2
138:2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your namefor Your lovingkindness and Your truth;for You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
In order to become one body of Christ, we must stay in one true teaching Word. The true teaching Word is the Word that is written in Bible and its secret is revealed by God through a verse that explains another verse in it.
If we obey until the flesh does not sound anymore, we will experience the power of Jesus’ name.
Acts 19:13-1619:13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.”
19:14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.
19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
19:16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. If we cry out Jesus’ name without obedience, we will be possessed by Satan through sin and humiliated.
Matthew 7:21-237:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
7:23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’Without obedience, one may exorcise Satan and make miracle, but he is the one who practices lawlessness that will be driven out by God.
Luke 10:17, 2010:17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
10:20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”If we cry out Jesus’ name with obedience, we will rejoice and our names are written in heaven.
Obedience determines our names are written in the Book of Life. We cannot follow others.
Exodus 32:32-3332:32 Yet now, if You will forgive their sin—but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written.”
32:33 And the Lordsaid to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.We cry out Jesus’ name when we are blessed through giving thanks.
Ephesians 5:205:20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,We cry out Jesus’ name when we face the great windstorm and waves.
Mark 4:35-394:35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”
4:36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.
4:37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
4:38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
4:39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!”And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.We also cry out Jesus’ name when we face the sinking.
Matthew 14:30-3114:30 But when he saw that the wind wasboisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched out Hishand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”If we disobey the true teaching Word, we will sink.
Matthew 14:2614:26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.Crying out Jesus’ name with obedience will result in miracle, the problems are solved, the windstorm is stopped, and we are lifted up from sinking, until our name is written in the Book of Life.Facing the shake, do not look for the finishing first, but obedience. Then the miracle happens, the problems are finished, and our names are written in the Book of Life. If we focus on the finishing, we always disobey Him and the problems raise.
God blesses us.
