Matthew 26:20-2526:20. When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve.
26:21. Now as they were eating, He said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me."
26:22. And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, "Lord, is it I?"
26:23. He answered and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me.
26:24. "The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."
26:25. Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, "Rabbi, is it I?" He said to him, "You have said it."Matthew 26:20-25 is about
eating Passover.
For now, it means
eating true teaching Word and holy communion.
Hebrews 5:11-145:11. of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.
5:12. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
5:13. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
5:14. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. There are 2 kinds of food of the Word of God:
- Milk = gospel word, that is Word tells Jesus' first coming on the cross to savesinners.
So, gospel word brings sinners to believe in Jesus and be saved.
Signs of being saved are as follows:
- Belief, faith in Jesus.
- Repentance, stop doing sin and return to God.
- New birth from water and Spirit= water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism which yield new life, living in righteousness.
- Solid food= teaching Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword, that is Word which tells Jesus' second coming in the glory as King of kings and Heavenly Bridegroom to sanctify and perfectour life.
The attitudes to teaching Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword areas follows:
- Refusing the warning/advice of the Word.
Matthew 14:4-5,10
14:4. Because John had said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her."
14:5. And although he wanted to put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
14:10. So he sent and had John beheaded in prison.
Herod refused teaching Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword which purifies wrong marriage. Especially the Word that sanctifies wrong marriage is otten rejected.
The consequence of refusing the true teaching Word is like Herod beheaded John the baptist, which means not experiencing renewal of life but still being flesh men with all flesh behaviours that will be perished.
- Avoiding teaching Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword which shows hidden sins.
Matthew 26:23-25
26:23. He answered and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me.
26:24. "The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."
26:25. Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, "Rabbi, is it I?" He said to him, "You have said it."
Avoding the Word means never being touched by the Word, never being pierced by the sword of Word, so his/her sins keep being hidden and heap in heart, until someday, his/her stomach crashes and all hidden dirty sins will be known by other people.
Let us be sanctified continously by the Word, until someday we become spotless.
- Being exceedingly sorrowful, namely experiencing the piercing of the sword of the Word.
Matthew 26:21-22
26:21. Now as they were eating, He said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me."
26:22. And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, "Lord, is it I?"
The process of being exceedingly sorrowful is as follows:
- Hearing the Word earnestly, with a need, that we are never bored of hearing the Word even when it is repeated.
- Understanding the Word.
- Believing in the teaching Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword and it will become faith in heart.
Faith= righteousness.
Righteousness shows everything that is false in ourselves, that we can be sorrowful, realize and regret the sins.
Being angry when hearing the Word, refusing or avoiding Word are the proofs of unfaithful life.
Romans 10:10
10:10. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
If our heart has realized and regreted the sin, our mouth will be compelled to confess our sin that we are justified and made unto salvation.
- Practicing the Word, being obedient to the teaching Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword.
Our attitude when hearing teaching Word does not depend on diploma, social status, etc, but
dependson heart. If our heart tends to be evil, we will surely avoid and reject the teaching Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword. If our heart is good, we will surely be able to receive the teaching Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword.
Good conscience is obtained from water baptism. Water baptism is not only church rule, but also determines our attitude to the Word. Are we like Judas who will be perished or able to receive the Word?
1 Peter 3:20-213:20. who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
3:21. There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,Life who is not baptized by water will not have good conscience. He/she surely rejects or avoids the Word and will surely perish.
Right water baptism is man who has already repented (having died to sins), is buried in water with Jesus and raises in new life, having good conscience.
The time we are eating the true teaching Word is the most decisive thing in our life, whether we are saved or perish like Judas.
John 21:3-721:3. Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.
21:4. But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
21:5. Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No."
21:6. And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
21:7. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.Peter was in total failure (he had nothing, could do nothing) and naked (falling into sin until the peak of sin), and humiliated, his life was collapsed.
Our attitude to the Worddetermines our life.Jesus came with the Word sharper than any two-edged sword.
"Children, have you any food?" means the Word that shows sins and nudity.
They answered Him, "No."means heart's being sorrowful and mouth confesses. So, they were forgiven, justified, and saved by God.
"Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some."is also the Word sharper than any two-edged sword which purifies mind. Logically, it was impossible to fish at noon. The Word of God was against their logic, but they were obedient.
If the Heart believes, the mouth confesses, and the hand practices the Word,
physical and spiritual miracle will happen. Spiritual miracle means we do not wallow in sin anymore and being faithful in ministry to God. Physical miracle means magical preservation from God, impossible things may become possible.
Every our step is miracle stepwith God. Until the last step, when Jesus comes on second time, we will be changed to become same as Him, clothed in pure bright linen to greet Jesus' coming on second time.
God blesses us.
