Exodus 13:17-1813:17 Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them byway of the land of the Philistines, although that wasnear; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.”
13:18 So God led the people around byway of the wilderness of the Red Sea.And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt.
God gives two ways to choose as follows:
- Flesh way, which is the way throughout the area of Philistines.
It is the shortest wayto Canaan, but it is full of war and it will end with regret/disappointment and one may return to Egypt.
- God’s way, which is the turn way to wilderness that will spend forty years.
Canaan spiritually means the revival of Holy Spirit in the last rain. Canaan also points to Spiritual Canaan, which is the New Jerusalem.
It takes forty years to go to Canaan through this way.
Leviticus 25:11
25:11 That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of its own accord, nor gather the grapesof your untended vine.
The forty years of Jubilee equal to two thousand years. It means the era of Church, from the first Jesus’ coming until the second one.
Deuteronomy 8:2
8:2 And you shall remember that the Lordyour God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humbleyou andtest you, to know what wasin your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
The aim of the journey for forty years is
to make Israel humble. The practice of being humble is
holding fast and obeying the Word.
Thus, the one that can enter the Canaan is the life that is humble, obedient to the Word whatever the risk.
Hebrews 3:8-9,113:8 Do not harden your heartsas in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness,
3:9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,and saw My works forty years.
3:11 So I swore in My wrath,‘they shall not enter My rest.’”
The condition of Israel for forty years in wilderness is hard-hearted although t
hey have already seen the miracle of God.
The result is Israel
cannot enter the promise land, except two people Joshua and Caleb.
Numbers 1:45-461:45 So all who were numbered of the children of Israel, by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and above, all who were able togo to war in Israel—
1:46 all who were numbered were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
Numbers 14:29-3014:29 The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.
14:30 Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in.
Numbers 13:3013:30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”
Numbers 14:6,1014:6 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who wereamong those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;
14:10 And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the Lordappeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children of Israel.Joshua and Caleb obey the Word even though they must face the sons of Anak in Canaan and the children of Israel that have said to stone them with stone.
Numbers 14:2414:24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.The life that can follow the Word whatever the risk has different spirit.
It has happened that fromsix hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty
people only two people who can be saved. In the last days it will happen again.
1 Corinthians 10:6,1110:6. Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
10:11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
To enter the New Jerusalem, we must be obedient to the Word whatever the risk.
The obedience is vertical from bottom to top.
Who must be obedient?
- The children must obey the parent.
Colossians 3:20
3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
- The wife must obey the husband.
1 Peter 3:6
3:6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.
- The servant obeys the master.
Colossians 3:22
3:22 Bondservants, obey in all things your mastersaccording to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.
- The one that is being led obeys the leader.
Hebrews 13:17
13:17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
- All of us must obey the Lord of God.
If there is the one that does
not obeying the Word, God uses
two ways to destroy hardness of heartas follows:
- Throughout the hard Teaching Word.
Jeremiah 23:29
23:29 “Isnot My word like a fire?” says the Lord,“And like a hammer thatbreaks the rock in pieces?
The true teaching Word contains convicts, rebukes and exhorts us.
If the Word points to our sin, it is the hard Word.
- Throughout chastening.
If the one refuses the Word, God will rebuke through the chastening.
The practices of the hardened heart are as follows:
- Impenitent heart.
Romans 2:5
2:5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heartyou are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
- Keeping the self-truth.
Job32:2
32:2 Then the wrath of Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was aroused against Job; his wrath was aroused because he justified himself rather than God.
The self-truthis the truth that gained through blaming others until blaming God (the true teaching Word). The self-truth is also the truth that is not written in bible.
Job keeps the self-truth, consequently he is totally chastened.
The total or complete chastening is
the affection of God. From the total chastening, Job can be humble and sit down on the dust and ashes.
Job 42:642:6 Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”
If the hardened heart can be broken and humble, the results will be as follows:
- There is double blessing from God, which is blessing in physical and spiritual life.
Job 42:12
42:12 Now the Lordblessed the latter daysof Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
We are being blessed, renewed and used in the revival of Holy Spirit in the last rain.
- We become the new man.
Colossians 3:12
3:12. Therefore, as theelect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
The new man can enter the new sky and new earth, which is the New Jerusalem.
- We can be same as Jesus that has humble heart.
Matthew 11:29
11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Thus, when Jesus comes a second time, our life is able to welcome Him on the glorious clouds and enter the New Jerusalem.
Revelation 21:27
21:27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causesan abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
The life outside the New Jerusalem is not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, it means everlasting perdition.
- The life with humble heart can worship God.
God blesses us.
