Speaker: Rev. Mikha Sanda TodingPeace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 16:5-1216:5 Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
16:6 Then Jesus said to them, "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees."
16:7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "It isbecause we have taken no bread."
16:8 But Jesus, being aware of it,said to them, "O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread?
16:9 Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?
16:10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up?
16:11 How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread?--butto beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
16:12 Then they understood that He did not tell themto beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
The leaven refers to the sins and false teaching.
The leavens of sins are as follows:
- The hypocrisy.
Luke 12:1-3
12:1 In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all,"Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
12:2 For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
12:3 Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
It means pretending in doing the ministry but hiding the sins. We must be honest in ministry. It begins from the honesty about the teaching.
- The fear of something so one does not fear God.
Luke 12:4-5
12:4 "And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
12:5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!
We must respect and fear God.
- The greediness.
Luke 12:15
12:15 And He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."
It means looking for physical things and ignoring the spiritual one. The result is one is never satisfied.
- The anxiety.
Luke 12:22-24
12:22 Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.
12:23 Life is more than food, and the body is morethan clothing.
12:24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?
It refers to the anxiety about our life now and in the future. We must trust and entrust ourselves to God. Our business is ministering and serving God. Then, the matter of our eating and drinking is the business of God.
- Negligence, the lamp goes out because we are not watchful.
Luke 12:35
12:35 "Let your waist be girded and yourlamps burning;
The facts found in the lamp that goes out are as follows:
- One does not minister in righteousness and faithfulness.
Romans 12:11
12:11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
We must be faithful and fervent in ministry.
- The lamp is put under a basket or under a bed.
Mark 4:21
4:21 Also He said to them, "Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand?
It means serving and ministering but sinning up to the peak of sin that is eating-drinking and marrying-being given in marriage.
- One does not obey the parents. Proverbs 20:20
20:20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in deep darkness.
The leaven of false teaching is as follows:
- The leaven of the Pharisees.
Matthew 19:3-8
19:3 The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for justany reason?"
19:4 And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who madethemat the beginning 'made them male and female,'
19:5 and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?
19:6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."
19:7 They said to Him, "Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?"
19:8 He said to them, "Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.
The false teaching allows remarrying after divorce, mixed marriage, and marrying-being given in marriage.
- The leaven of Sadducees.
Mark 12:18-24
12:18 Then someSadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him; and they asked Him, saying:
12:19 "Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man's brother dies, and leaves hiswife behind, and leaves no children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.
12:20 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife; and dying, he left no offspring.
12:21 And the second took her, and he died; nor did he leave any offspring. And the third likewise.
12:22 So the seven had her and left no offspring. Last of all the woman died also.
12:23 Therefore, in the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be? For all seven had her as wife."
12:24 Jesus answered and said to them, "Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?
The teaching does not believe in the power of resurrection so it makes man sin.
- The leaven of Herod.
Matthew 14:3-5
14:3 For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put himin prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.
14:4 Because John had said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her."
14:5 And although he wanted to put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
It is the hardness of heart that refuses the true teaching word that reveals the sin, rebukes, and exhorts.
Matthew 26:40-4126:40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?
26:41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed iswilling, but the flesh isweak."We must watch in two things for facing the leaven of sin and false teaching as follows:
- Being watchful in ministry.
It refers to the perseverance in three main services as follows:
- The Bible Study and Holy Communion Service or the Table of Showbread. We watch the purity of teaching.
Leviticus 24:5-6
24:5 "And you shall take fine flour and bake twelve cakes with it. Two-tenths of an ephahshall be in each cake.
24:6 You shall set them in two rows, six in a row, on the pure goldtable before the Lord.
- The General Service or the Golden Candlestick. We watch the purity in Spirit.
1 Corinthians 3:16
3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and thatthe Spirit of God dwells in you?
Do not mix with other spirit that is not from God.
- The Worship Prayer Service or the Golden Altar of Incense. We watch the purity of sincere love.
1 Peter 1:22
1:22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
Do not mix with the flesh love that is influenced by the lust.
- Being watchful in prayer as follows:
- One hour prayer.
Matthew 26:40-41
26:40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?
26:41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed iswilling, but the flesh isweak."
We must be watchful so we will not fall in the sin of Babylon (that is destroyed in an hour) and lose in the weakness of flesh.
- Fasting prayer.
Acts 14:22-23
14:22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting themto continue in the faith, and saying,"We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God."
14:23 So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.
It is for assuring our ministry so we will not fall and lose our ministry. It is also for ripping the flesh faster.
- All night-long prayer.
Luke 6:12-13
6:12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
6:13 And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself;and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:
It is for making our life specialized by God.
Leviticus 21:12
21:12 nor shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God isupon him: I amthe Lord.
We are anointed by Holy Spirit to be employed by God in the revival of the building of the body of Christ.
Psalm 17:8
17:8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye;hide me under the shadow of Your wings,
We become the apple of God's eye or the life that is cared and protected by God. We are given two wings of great eagle to fly us to wilderness. We are far away from Antichrist.
Exodus 34:8-9
34:8 So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.
34:9 Then he said, "If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we area stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your inheritance."
We belong to God. We become the Bride of heaven. We are ready to greet His second coming on the glorious clouds. We enter the marriage supper of the Lamb of God, a thousand years kingdom of peace, and the New Jerusalem.
God blesses us.
