Matthew26:26-29is about
EATING HOLY COMMUNION.
Overall, Matthew 26:26-29 is divided into two parts as follows:
- Verse26-28is about eating Holy Communion, which denotes Jesus' death on the cross.
- Verse29denotes the resurrection and rise of Jesus to the Heaven to taste new wine (Heavenly joy).
Ad. 2We will also taste the new wine with Jesus in the Heaven.
Therefore,
starting from now in the world we must already taste the new wine (Heavenly joy) which will increase and peak onthe marriage supper of the Lamb of God (Revelation 19), until we enter the New Jerusalem/ eternal kingdom of Heaven (Revelation 21-22).
In the New Jerusalem, forever we will taste the new wine, and there will be no more tears.
Thus,
in following Jesus, our joy must increase.
Heavenly joy cannot be affected by the world (rich/ poor, healthy/ sick, smart/ fool, etc.).
There are many people outside, who do not know Jesus, who are richer, smarter, and have better position than us.
In fact, this world is in curse situation and there is no joy.
There are only sorrows and sufferings in this world, such that
many people, including Christians and God's servants become desperate and lose the heart.
At least, losing the heart hits three places as follows:
- Losing the heart in marriage, including the marriage of Christians and God's servants.
Colossians3:20-21
3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
3:21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
The consequence is there is no good relationship between husband and wife, between parents and children.
A good relationship (according to the Word) is as follows:
- Husband loves wife.
- Wife submits to husband in every matter.
- Children obey parents in every matter.
- Parents should not follow the children's will which is not according to the Word.
- Losing the heart in ministry.
II Corinthians4:1
4:1. Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.
The practice is being disobedient until leaving the ministry.
We must correct ourselves what is the cause of losing the heart in ministry.
- Pastor is no longer able to provide the food of shepherding Word.
- The congregation is hardening the heart by preserving or agreeing sins, such that they are no longer able to receive the shepherding Word.
The example is Judas Iscariot.
Although it was already Jesus Himself who preached the shepherding Word, Judas was not able to receive it since he preserved his sins.
No matter how small the preserved sin is, sometime he will not be able to receive the shepherding Word.
As long as our heart is willing to be purified, we are always able to receive the Word.
- Losing the heart in facing problems and sufferings.
Proverbs24:10
24:10. Ifyou faint in the day of adversity, Your strength issmall.
If we faint in the day of adversity, our strength is small. God will never stretch out His hands and that life will perish forever.
A life who loses the heart is described as two things as follows:
- Plain salt, it means as follows:
- His life is not good, always in exhausted and heavy burden.
Every time we feel not good in our life (marriage, ministry, etc.), we must correct ourselves (check whether there is sin or not)!
- Decaying = living in sins (started with lie), up to the peak of sins (eating-drinking sins and sexuality sins).
A decay which cannot be helped anymore is "lying" (including hiding something, saying not right words, covering the sins).
A lying man cannot be touched or held by the others, since he does not confess his faults and even being proud of his sins. God also cannot touch him, such that surely he is in the hands of Satan.
- Without sweet wine.
The Gentiles are as many waters on the sea, where the harlot sits.
The Gentiles must be shepherded (waters are put on the waterpot), such that we can be changed into the sweet wine.
Without wine means life who becomes desperate, discourage, disappointed, such that he lives blindly. There is no more joy, there is only sufferings, sorrows, etc., and that life goes to perdition forever.
In this world there is no sweet wine. Actually this world is only an empty waterpot without water, since this world has been cursed.
Richness/ poorness, smartness/ foolishness, all these things are not new wine, and they are not related with Heavenly joy.
The WAY OUTJohn16:716:7. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
From Jesus' side:
Jesus had to die, rise, and go up to the Heaven, to pour the new wine/ Holy Spirit to all of us.
On the cross, Jesus bore all curses and our sufferings.
From our side:
The requirements of receiving the anointing of Holy Spirit are as follows:
- Preparing new heart/ bottle, that is PEACEFUL HEART (keep staying in Jerusalem = keep living in peace).
Acts1:4-5
1:4 And being assembled together with them,He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said,"you have heard from Me;
1:5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
The process isthrough reconciliation with God and the others.
- We confess our sins to God (vertical) and the others (horizontal) honestly. If we are forgiven, we should not do the sins anymore.
The aim of confessing the sins is such that we are forgiven and set free from sins.
Do not confess the sins with pretending to get something!
- We forgive the others' sin who really have confessed their sin to us, and we forget it.
- There must be ONE HEART (ACCORD) to PERSEVERE in prayer.
Acts1:14
1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
It is started with one heart in marriage.
Matthew18:19
18:19 "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
Husband and wife are different individuals.
Both of them can become one heart, if they are filled by one true teaching Word.
One heart is more than looking harmonious, sleeping in one bed, etc. One heart equals to cannot be separated anymore by anything.
If we are not united in one true teaching Word (not in one true vine), we will not be able to have one heart.
Be careful!
Do not agree with sins! For examples are Ananias and Sapphira, Adam and Eve.
It is continued with one heart in ministry.
The people within the congregation are different each other. All of them can have one heart if they are filled with one true teaching Word.
Perseverance in prayer to wait the pouring of Holy Spirit is as a woman who conceives until she gives birth.
- It cannot be forced.
- It cannot be blocked by anyone.
Everything must be in natural way and we surrender to God.
When we persevere and live in holiness (we are filled with the true teaching Word), Jesus will baptize us with the Spirit and pour the Holy Spirit to us.
- Being STRONG and of GOOD COURAGE.
Acts1:24-26
1:24 And they prayed and said, "You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen
1:25 to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place."
1:26 And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
It means as follows:
- Being firm in ministry.
- Being faithful and fervent in spirit in ministry.
Holy Spirit would not be poured if twelve apostles have not been fulfilled.
Acts2:42:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. One of the signs of being filled with Holy Spirit is speaking with other tongues, as the Spirit gives us utterance.
Thus, the Spirit language is not taught by human or pastor, since it is Jesus Himself who baptizes us with the Spirit.
The USEFULNESSES of Holy Spirit are as follows:
- John16:12-13
16:12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear themnow.
16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
Holy Spirit guides us into all truth = gives us the ability to bear all weight of the true teaching Word.
The practicesare we can listen to the Word well, we can understand and believe the Word, until we can practice the Word, such that we can live in righteousness.
The daily example is our identity card must be right, etc.
We must be faithful and persevere in ministry according to the ministry we receive from God.
When we preserve the wrong things, SURELY there is no Holy Spirit.
- John16:1
16:1. "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.
Holy Spirit gives us comfort and relief when we labor and are heavy laden, such that everything becomes easy and light.
Holy Spirit gives us strength to testify when we face hatred, etc.
We do not fight against hatred by hatred, but it is the chance for us to testify to help the others.
- Titus 3:5
3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Holy Spirit is the glorious Spirit, who works to renew us from flesh man (clay pot) to become spiritual man as Jesus (the golden pot that had the manna, a tried and eternal life).
Judas Iscariot did not want to be renewed such that his destiny ended with ruin and perdition.
The more we are renewed, the more we feel the wine of Holy Spirit.
What must be changed?
- Being PATIENT in sufferings, being PATIENT in waiting God's time.
Do not take a way out outside the Word!
A way outside the Word is a deadlock and perdition.
John2:3
2:3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine."
- Being OBEDIENT.
John2:5
2:5 His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it."
- Being HONEST (drawing and tasting the sweet wine).
If spiritual miracle happens, physical miracle will also be done by Holy Spirit. What is impossible becomes possible.
Until the last and the greatest miracle, that is we will be renewed as glorious as Jesus to enter the eternal kingdom of Heaven.
God blesses us.
