Matthew 27 refers to
seven sprinklings of blood upon the Ark of Covenant.
Now it means the suffering experienced by Jesus up to His death on the cross to save, purify, and perfect us.
Matthew 27:11-26 is the second sprinkling of blood, that is Jesus faces Pilate. It consists of two parts as follows:
- Verse 11-14, Jesus faces false accusation and questions that corner Him.
- Verse 15-26, Jesus faces injustice.
Jesus is the King of truth, but He must be crucified. Jesus Barabbas is the king of fault but he is set free.
This morning, we discuss about the role of Israelites and Gentiles in the judiciary of Jesus.
Matthew 27:20-2627:20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.
27:21 The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They said, “Barabbas!”
27:22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” Theyall said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”
27:23 Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”
27:24 When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather thata tumult was rising, he took water and washed hishands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.”
27:25 And all the people answered and said, “His blood beon us and on our children.”
27:26 Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Himto be crucified. The role of Israelites is suing Jesus Christ to be crucified.
The role of Gentiles (which is represented by Pilate) is conducting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Thus,
Israelites and Gentiles both need Jesus as the King of truth who dies on the cross.
Matthew 5:17
5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.Jesus dies on the cross to fulfill the Law, since Israelites can not fulfill the Law and the judgment is death.
Galatians 2:16
2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.Israelites do not get truth from the Law, but death judgment, since none can fulfill the Law. But Israelites can get the truth only by believing or having faith to Jesus as the King of truth who has fulfilled the Law on the cross.
John 18:37-38a
18:37 Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightlythat I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
18:38 Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” Gentiles do not know about truth. They live in sins up to the peak of sins, that is eating-drinking sins (smoking, getting drunk, consuming drugs) and marrying and being given in marriage sins. Gentiles must be destroyed.
Gentiles get truth only by believing or having faith to Jesus as the King of truth who has died on the cross to redeem our sins.
Jesus as the King of truth is able to give truth to Israelites and Gentiles.
Ephesians 2:11-16
2:11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands—
2:12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
2:14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,
2:15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is,the law of commandments containedin ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man fromthe two, thusmaking peace,
2:16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.Jesus dies on the cross to break down the middle wall of separation between Israelites and Gentiles.
The thing that makes separation is self-truth, that is truth outside the Word of God, or truth of sinful life by blaming the others up to God.
Breaking down the middle wall of separation means breaking down self-truth and using the truth from Holy Bible or the sacrifice of Christ.
It means building the wall of New Jerusalem, uniting Israelites and Gentiles in one body of Christ, one new body.
Thus, the perfect body of Christ is new man as glorious as Jesus, who is worthy to welcome Jesus’ second coming on the glorious clouds. We will enter a thousand year kingdom of peace, and the New Jerusalem forever.
Revelation 19:9
19:9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed arethose who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”The process of being new man to enter the New Jerusalem is called
renewal process.
Within Tabernacle, there are three kinds of renewal as follows:
- Renewal through water baptism the Court of Tabernacle.
In the past we were born from physical parents as flesh man who is not proper to live in Heaven. Therefore, we must experience new birth from God through water baptism.
1 Peter 3:20-21
3:20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while theark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Water baptism results in new life, which is proper to live in New Jerusalem, that is having good conscience or sincere heart as pigeon or newborn baby.
1 Peter 2:2
2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,
Sincere heart as newborn baby is heart which only longs for pure and spiritual milk. Pure milk is the Word that comes from Holy Bible, one verse is explained by another verse. Spiritual milk is the Word in the anointing of Holy Spirit, whose secret is revealed. Pure and spiritual milk comes from the shepherd/ pastor (mother).
Thus, sincere heart always enjoys true shepherding Word in the anointing of Holy Spirit.
John 10:5
10:5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
Sincere people will be steady in the shepherding, so that his life is in calmness, being cared physically and spiritually (being satisfied). Everything is easy and light. If our life is still heavy, we need to check our faithfulness to the shepherding Word.
The example is the baby of Moses who must be put in the river. But God defends him in the matter of milk. God sends his own mother. God knows if Moses had received another milk, he would not have been used by Him but become the destroyer of the body of Christ.
Within shepherding, we will also experience spiritual growth to become priest and king. We can minister God in the building of the body of Christ.
Ministry within shepherding is as the mother of Moses who breast-feeds Moses after Pharaoh’s daughter takes him. There is no more fear and worry, but full of benediction and dedication. She does not want to be obstructed in ministry. Until we really become the perfect body of Christ.
- Renewal in worship service the Holy Place (Golden Altar of Incense).
Matthew 17:1-2
17:1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves;
17:2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
Worship prayer is the process of tearing the flesh so we experience renewal of life from flesh man to become spiritual man.
Renewal of life is started from shining countenance (the countenance of baby), that is meek heart, heart that shines love.
Falling countenance happens when heart starts to love something else more than God.
There are five senses in our face. Shining face depends on lips. Lips must say right and good words, words that can be blessings to the others. We must also have right and good deeds. If we have these things, everything will become good in our life.
1 Peter 3:10-11
3:10 For“He who would love life
And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.
3:11 Let him turn away from evil and do good;
Let him seek peace and pursue it.
- Renewal through sprinkling blood the Most Holy Place.
2 Corinthians 4:16-17
4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward manis perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding andeternal weight of glory,
Sprinkling blood results in renewal of our life, so we become strong and of good courage. This is the heart that is filled by the Spirit of glory.
Being strong and of good courage means as follows:
- Not being desperate or discouraged, not being proud in facing everything, only giving thanks to God.
- Being faithful and fervent in spirit in ministry until we finish the race.
- Being obedient until the flesh does not sound anymore.
Being strong and of good courage is as burning the flesh which results in sweet-smelling aroma for God.
Ephesians 5:1-2
5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
If we can offer sweet-smelling aroma, our position is as a baby in the embrace hands of God(a wave offering before the Lord).
Exodus 29:22-25
29:22 “Also you shall take the fat of the ram, the fat tail, the fat that covers the entrails, the fatty lobe attached tothe liver, the two kidneys and the fat on them, the right thigh (for it isa ram of consecration),
29:23 one loaf of bread, one cake made withoil, and one wafer from the basket of the unleavened bread that isbefore the Lord;
29:24 and you shall put all these in the hands of Aaron and in the hands of his sons, and you shall wave them asa wave offering before the Lord.
29:25 You shall receive them back from their hands and burn themon the altar as a burnt offering, as a sweet aroma before the Lord. It isan offering made by fire to the Lord.
This morning, if we still can see the sun shines and the river flows, that is the mercy of God to our life.
The results are as follows:
- Our death and life are within the merciful hands of God.
- The merciful hands of God make our future neat and beautiful.
- The merciful hands of God solve everything.
- he merciful hands of God wash and purify our life, until we are as perfect as Jesus and ready to welcome His second coming on the glorious clouds.
God blesses us.
