Matthew 27 refers to
seven sprinklings of blood upon the Ark of Covenant.
Now it means the suffering experienced by Jesus up to His death on the cross to safe, purify, and perfect us.
In Matthew 27, there are seven passages that refer to seven sprinklings of blood experienced by Jesus up to His death on the cross as follows:
- Matthew 27:1-10, Jesus handed over to Pontius Pilate and Judas’ death.
- Matthew 27:11-26, Jesus faces Pilate.
- Matthew 27:27-32, the soldiers mock Jesus.
- Matthew 27:33-50, Jesus’ crucifixion.
- Matthew 27:51-56, miracles happen at the time of Jesus’ death.
- Matthew 27:57-61, Jesus buried in Joseph’s tomb.
- Matthew 27:62-66, Pilate sets a guard.
ad. 2. Jesus faces PilateIt consists of two parts as follows:
- Verse 11-14, Jesus faces false accusation and questions.
- Verse 15-26, Jesus faces injustice (Barabbas is released, but Jesus is crucified).
In the last days we must be careful so we will not choose wrongly.
Matthew 27:1127:11 Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “It is asyou say.”Jesus faces questions that corner Him and contain high risk, since the Jews hate and reject Him.
Jesus answers "
It is as you say" means Jesus confesses that He is the King of the Jews, Jesus answers the question righteously whatever the risk.
Revelation 19:6,16
19:6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns
19:16 And He has on Hisrobe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.Jesus is not only the King of the Jews, but He is King of kings. If He does not confess that He is the King of the Jews, He will never be confessed and He will never become the King of kings on His second coming.
Likewise, we must say and testify righteously about Jesus whatever the risks must be faced. If we never confess Jesus as the King of the Jews and the true teaching Word, we will never welcome Jesus’ second coming as King of kings.
Psalm 20:6
20:6 Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed;
He will answer him from His holy heaven
With the saving strength of His right hand.King is the one who is anointed by Holy Spirit, so he will always win.
Why does Jesus keep confessing as the King although He has to face high risk, that is dying on the cross?- Because Jesus always honors the anointing of Holy Spirit.
When one lies, it means being dry spiritually and not honoring the anointing of Holy Spirit.
Self-truth or not saying the truth means not honoring the anointing of Holy Spirit.
Life without the anointing of Holy Spirit is as dry stick that will be destroyed and perish. When there is anointing of Holy Spirit, that stick can sprout, flower, and bear fruits.
- So that Jesus can win over enemies who want to destroy all of us.
In the other words, Jesus as victorious King helps us to beat all enemies who want to destroy us.
There are three main enemies who want to destroy us as follows:
- Death/ sin/ perdition forever.
1 Corinthians 15:25-26
15:25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.
15:26 The last enemy thatwill be destroyed isdeath.
Death is the last enemy that will be destroyed by Jesus on the cross. It means that all enemies have been beaten.
Luke 23:46-47
23:46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’” Having said this, He breathed His last.
23:47 So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous Man!”
The proof that Jesus as King has won over deathis He keeps living in the righteousness until His death on the cross. The centurion, life who hates Him, even can confess “Certainly this was a righteous Man!”
For us now, let us be silent when facing something, since God will show the truth in His time.
Matthew 27:3-4
27:3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
27:4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.”And they said, “What is thatto us? You see to it!”
Judas Iscariot is remorseful since he has betrayed innocent blood, but he is late. This is a reminder for us as God’s servant.
Starting from now, we must seriously live in righteousness and be honest confessing ‘something’ which is right. We must confess the true teaching Word, ministry, and marriage. Do not regret it later.
- World.
James 4:4
4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
The world with all its influence is:
- bustles,
- difficulties,
- needs,
- sufferings,
- fake happiness.
All of these things make God’s servants and children faithless even leave ministry.
Being faithless in ministry means doing adultery spiritually, and it equals to perdition.
Matthew 25:26,30
25:26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.
25:30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
God does not value what ministry we do, but He sees our faithfulness.
It is better to be a faithful deacon who mops the floor than a faithless pastor.
Being faithless means being lazy, and it will be together with being evil.
The sign of faithless life is grumbling and grudging frequently. Faithless life is useless, and will be cast into the outer darkness, perdition forever.
Revelation 1:5
1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
The proof that Jesus as King has beaten the world with all its influenceis Jesus becomes faithful God’s servant until His death on the cross, but He is raised to rule over the kings of the earth.
2 Timothy 2:13
2:13 If we are faithless,
He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
If we are faithless, He remains faithful. It means as follows:
- The faithfulness of Jesus never changes, since it is His character.
- Jesus gives chance to us to be faithful.
But it must be remembered that God’s longsuffering has limit. If it has reached its end, one must enter the darkest darkness.
Being faithless in ministry means denying ourselves and Jesus.
- Romans 8:7
8:7 Because the carnal mind isenmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
Flesh with all its desire and want makes God’s children become disobedient to the Word of God, pastor, and parents.
James 1:13-15
1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
1:14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
1:15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
Desire and flesh want have attraction and dragging power to pull us out from God’s will until we are against the true Word of God, and do sins. At that time, we fall into temptations. Walking out from the Word when we are in problems or looking for way out outside the Word means doing sin so it is full-grown and brings forth death or perdition forever.
Philippians 2:8
2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point ofdeath, even the death of the cross.
The proof that Jesus as King has beaten flesh with all its desire and wantis He is obedient until His death on the cross.
When facing something, it is better that we intensify one hour prayer, fasting prayer, and all night prayer, so we can beat the flesh with all its desire and want.
The cross is the proof that Jesus as King has won over destroying enemies. Jesus is willing to die on the cross to beat death, world, and flesh, proof that He is King of kings, and set us free from perdition.
Matthew 27:22
27:22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” Theyall said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”
What must we do?- We must live in righteousness until we finish the race (until we die or Jesus comes a second time).
Do not follow the things that are not right.
- Being faithful and fervent in spirit in ministry until we finish the race.
- Being obedient until we finish the race.
Do not say that we will do this wrong thing once, we will not be faithful just once, or we will not be obedient just once, since none knows the end of the race.
Living in righteousness and being faithful and obedient mean only seeing God.
Do not see anything in this world that makes us not right, unfaithful, and disobedient. Moreover if it is just because of sins.
Living in righteousness and being faithful and obedient until finishing the race force us to worship Jesus the King, just to see Him. Thus, our position is within the powerful hands of the King.
Zechariah 14:17
14:17 And it shall be thatwhichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain.
If we are not right, faithful, nor obedient, God will send the plague.
But if we are right, faithful and obedient until we finish the race, He will pour the rain for us in the middle of this world wilderness.
Isaiah 44:3
44:3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring;
The results are as follows:
- We live in the wilderness where it is difficult to sow and reap. But we receive the rain of Holy Spirit, that is the rain of blessing to care our lives until our descendants. There is nothing impossible for God.
- The dry wilderness indicates that there is no satisfaction, so that many God’s children look for satisfaction in doing sins. The consequence is weeping, laboring, and being heavy laden. The rain of Holy Spirit will satisfy us with true satisfaction from God, so we experience peace. We can testify and experience everything becomes easy and light.
- The rain of Holy Spirit renews our life.
Titus 3:5
3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Renewal of life from flesh man to become spiritual one as Jesus is the greatest miracle.
Revelation 22:1
22:1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
Life who receives the pouring of Holy Spirit is as clear as crystal, that is being honest whatever the risk. This is the major renewal. If there is honesty, there will be satisfaction and God’s blessing.
We live in dry and hopeless wilderness of the world, but if there is Holy Spirit poured, we will live in the ambience of God’s throne. Therein we will get carnal and spiritual care. Until Jesus’ second coming, we will be lifted up to God’s throne, and meet Jesus the King.
God blesses us.
