Peace and grace in the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We will learn
Mark 6: 6b-13
Mark 6: 6b-13
6:6b Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.
6:7 And He calledthe twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.
6:8 He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff--no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts--
6:9 but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.
6:10 Also He said to them, "In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place.
6:11 "And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!"
6:12 So they went out and preached that people should repent.
6:13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.
= the sending out (Jesus sent out twelve disciples).
Who are sent by God?The people whom He calls (verse 7 = '
He called').
God does not call the righteous, but
the sinners to be justified.
The proof of receiving the call of Godis
we are willingly justified until we are right. The process is as follows.
- Believing in Jesus.
- Repenting.
- Being baptized of water and Holy Spirit.
- Living in righteousness.
Thus, the people who are
called to live in righteousnessand
chosen to be shepherdedwill be sent by God.
It is written in
Proverbs 12: 26'
The righteous should choose his friends carefully'.
It meansthat we
are shepherdedto the one true teching Word after we
are justifiedor we are chosen.
Tonight we learn the supply of the sending out as follows.
Mark 6: 8-9
6:8 He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff--no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts--
6:9 but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.
- The staff.
It refers to the cross of Christ.
It means the suffering in the fleshto stop sinningup to the suffering without any sin. We must hold or bear the cross for ministering to God.
Do not ever release the cross, or else the serpent will come like the rod released by Moses became the serpent and then he ran away because of being afraid of being bitten by it.
The result of holding the crossis an advantage, namely the glory.
Moses could not go anywhere when he faced Red Sea in front of, the army of Pharaoh behind, and the wilderness around him. God only shew him one thing, namely holding the cross or stretching out the rod. Thus, there is power or miracle to make impossible things possiblebehind the cross.
- Shoes or sandals.
Ephesians 6: 15
6:15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
It means the willingnessto minister to God, without any force.
Without wearing the sandals, we cannot endure the journey on the wilderness.
We must minister to God with the willingness and our sandals will still be complete like the ones of Israelites did not wear out for forty years in the wilderness.
We can have the willingness of heart because of the power of Holy Spirit(the pillar of clouds and fire overshadowed them) although we must face impossibilities, difficulties, sufferings, and so on.
The willingness also means the readiness in ministering to God.
How can we get it?
2 Timothy 2: 21
2:21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himselffrom the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
We can get it by being sanctified actively.
Where can we be sanctified? We can be sanctified in the shepherding pen where we actively persevere in doing three main services to God as follows.
- Golden Candlestick or perseverance in doing General Service.
- Table of Showbread or perseverance in doing Bible Study Service with Holy Communion.
- Golden Altar of Incenseor perseverance in doing Prayer Service.
The more we are sanctified, the more we are used by God.
The toolfor sanctifying us is the true teaching Word.
Thus, the purpose of our activity in the shepherding is for being sanctified by the true teaching Word that is written in the Bible and explained by a verse that explains other verses in it.
Our heart must be sanctifiedby the true teaching Word and we must have the heart of a servant or doulosso that we can be ready.
Luke 17: 7-10
17:7 "And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come at once and sit down to eat'?
17:8 "But will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink'?
17:9 "Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.
17:10 "So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.'"
The heart of doulosis only doing the duty without insisting any right.
It does not mean that we lose our right because our right is in God's hand.
Insisting the right without doing the duty means not wearing sandals. Consequently, one cannot endure in ministering to God. On the contrary, we can endure ministering to God if we wear the sandals, even until forty years. The forty years refer to the year of Jubilee and the second coming of Jesus.
The attitude of being ready is the one of the bride of God.
Revelation 19: 7
19:7 "Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready."
In the gospel according to Matthew, the bride must be ready in waiting for the bridegroom through preparing the lamp and the oil of supply. We must always be ready if we long for being the bride of God.
- Not putting on two tunics.
The tunic refers to the true teaching Word. We must hold fast to one true teaching Word and God will use us for sure, even He provides all things for us until we do not need to bring any supply, money, and so on.
Ministering to God means that we become the workers.
The workers must
get the wage. Therefore, Jesus says '
Do not bring any supply'.
Where do we work? We work in
the vineyard or the field of the bridegroom.
Who may work in the vineyard?
- Israelites.
Matthew 20: 1-2
20:1 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morningto hire laborers for his vineyard.
20:2 "Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. "
'early in the morning'= Israelites(because of the promise of God).
- The lost Israelites.
Matthew 20: 3-5
20:3 "And he went out about the third hourand saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
20:4 "and said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went.
20:5 "Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.
They are looked for by Jesus through His sacrifice or death on the cross.
"the third hour, the sixth and the ninth hour" refer to the time of Jesus' crucifixion.
- Gentiles.
Matthew 20: 6-8
20:6 "And about the eleventh hourhe went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why have you been standing here idle all day?'
20:7 "They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.'
20:8 "So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.'
"the third hour, the sixth and the ninth hour"means Jesus' death on the cross with four wounds.
"the eleventh hourup to the twelfth" = the opportunity for the Gentiles.
John 19: 31,34
19:31 Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
19:34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
The twelfthrefers to Sabbath. The dead body of crucified man should not remain on the cross. Looking at the two criminals who were still alive, the soldiers broke their legs. Looking at Jesus who was already dead, a Romans soldier pierced His side with a spear. Then, blood and water came out of it.
The Gentiles get the opportunity for working only for one hourfrom the eleventh to the twelfth hour and then they can get the wage.
What must we do in one hour?
- Looking at Jesus' side that has been pierced.
It meansthat we look at the blood and watercoming out of Jesus' side.
Bloodmeans repentance.
Watermeans water baptism.
Thus, we must repentin the next one hour when Sabbath will come. This is the time of mercy before the One Thousand Years Kingdom of Peace and Jesus' second coming.
We must repent from these sins related to the ones in the vineyard.
- Jealousy(the hidden sins in the heart that will be judged when Jesus comes a second time).
- Sinful words= murmur.
Murmur will happen if the heart keeps the jealousy.
- The sinful deeds.
Zechariah 12: 10-14
12:10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.
12:11 "In that day there shall be a great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning at Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.
12:12 "And the land shall mourn, every family by itself: the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves;
12:13 "the family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of Shimei by itself, and their wives by themselves;
12:14 "all the families that remain, every family by itself, and their wives by themselves.".
Our attitudewhen we are looking at Jesus' side which is pierced is mourning, meaning we realize our sins earnestly with regret and then we repent seriously.
'every family by itself, and their wives by themselves' = although a husband and his wife are united in marriage, the matter of looking at Jesus' side is a private one. One cannot rely on others in that matter.
Do not be late! In Revelation 1: 7, one can look at Him who has been pierced, but it has been late. One will perish when Jesus comes a second time if he just begins to repent and live in righteousness at that time.
Let us use the time to repent earnestly before Jesus comes a second time.
- Entering the ministry for building the perfect body of Christ or the last one in the world.
Matthew 27: 57-58
27:57 Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus.
27:58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him.
Someday God will use the people like Joseph from Arimathea and Nicodemus who are rich and prominent in the ministry for building the perfect body of Christ. The revival is very short for the Gentiles and no one knows the time limit. Let us use the opportunity we have now.
The factfound in entering the ministry for building the perfect body of Christ is we suit all things in our lifesuch as private life, marriage, and shepherding with the true teaching Word to aim at Jesus as the Head.
Why do we have to enter the building of the body of Christ?
Because there are two kinds of building. If one does not enter the building of the body of Christ, he will enter another building that will be destroyed in one hour, namely the building of Babylon.
- Watching and praying.
Matthew 26: 40-41
26:40 Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter, "What? Could you not watch with Me one hour?
26:41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Why do we have to watch and pray? Because we must undergo the experience of Gethsemane, namely sorrows, temptations, and sufferings without any sin. We can be strong by watching and praying.
The purpose of praying for one hour is tearing our flesh.
We must tear our flesh by praying for one hour, fasting, worshiping, and praying all night long, or else we must enter into the temptation.
The purpose is that our flesh does not sound anymore.
Matthew 6: 13
6:13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
'do not lead us into temptation' = the prayer Jesus has taught to us.
John 16: 1-4
16:1 "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.
16:2 "They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.
16:3 "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.
16:4 "But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
The proof that we watch and prayis we are neither disappointed nor we reject Himalthough we must face Gethsemane (the suffering in the flesh without any sin), but we keep on having faith or believing in Jesus.
The result of working in the vineyard is the wage, namely
one denarius.
Revelation 6: 6
6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine."
What for? The one denarius is useful for facing physical and spiritual
famine.
Physical famineis the crisis that attacks the world in all fields of life.
We will be able to pass thorugh the physical crises in the world because the hand of God directly preserves our life.
Spiritual faminemeans many falls, even young and great people will fall.
How can we face it? We can face it through the one denarius.
Isaiah 49: 4
49:4 Then I said, 'I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely my just reward is with the LORD, And my work with my God.'"
God blesses you.
