We will learn in
Mark 9: 1-13=
THE CONDITION ON THE MOUNTAIN.
Mark 9: 1-5
9:1.And He said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power."
9:2 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountainapart by themselves; and He was transfiguredbefore them.
9:3 His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.
9:4 And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
9:5 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for usto be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah" -- - There is the prophetic Wordor Jesus is shown in the glory as the King of all kings and heavenly bridegroom. There is also the perfect church that is represented by Moses and Elijah.
- Verse 2 = 'He was transfiguredbefore them' = there is the renewalof life.
- Verse 5 = 'it is good for us' = the condition on the mountain is the joyful one. Peter said 'it is good for usto be here'. He had not said it after catching a lot of fish.
The mountain refers to
the worship.
The results we get if we live in righteousness are as follows.
- The Lord reveals His Wordboth for the pastor and the congregation.
- We have the life renewaluntil we become the same as Jesus.
It is especially when we have the characteristics that cannot be renewed easily.
- We are joyful in the world.
The more we live in the worship, the more we are joyful in our private life, marriage, and ministry.
Mark 9: 14-29= the contradictory condition
AT THE FOOT OF THE MOUNTAIN.
It means
there are no Word of God and worship.
Consequently, there are problems, even the impossible ones that cannot be solved by the disciples.
Mark 9: 14
9:14. And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them.
There are two kinds of problem that cannot be solved. They happen all around the world, even to the servants or sons of God as follows.
- Marriage problem.
It is represented by a fatherin Mark 9: 24
9:24. Immediately the fatherof the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!"
There was no mother. It means there is no unity in the marriage.
- Problem about children.
It means the young peoplewho fall and rise in sins up to the peak.
Why does a marriage not become one?
- Because of being unequally yoked together with unbelievers.
2 Corinthians 6: 11-14
6:11. O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, our heart is wide open.
6:12 You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections.
6:13 Now in return for the same (I speak as to children), you also be open.
6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
It has happened in the days of Noah when the sons of God got married with the sons of men. There was no unity in the marriage, even the children were giants.
The giants refer to fleshly life or the flesh has been so gigantic and cannot be overcome.
Nevertheless, such spouse must not divorce (1 Corinthians 7).
- Because one of the spouse is in the righteousness and another is in the lawlessness.
2 Corinthians 6: 14
6:14. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
John 17: 17
17:17. "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
The truth means the Word that sanctifies.
The lawlessness resists against the truth.
Therefore, it is not enough to be in one faith in the marriage. The spouse will never be one if there is rejection to the true teaching Word. On the contrary, there is a hope to be united if the husband and his wife hear the true teaching Word.
The right marriage according to the true teaching Word has these signs.
- The right structure.
- The husband becomes the head.
- The wife becomes the body.
The head takes all decisions according to the truth of the Word.
The duties in the marriage are as follows.
- The husband must love the wife like his own body.
- The wife must be submissive to the husband in everything.
- There is one husband and one wife only= there is neither polygamy nor polyandry like the first model of marriage God has created between Adam and Eve.
- There must be no divorce.
If there is a divorce, one cannot get married again. She or he must live alone, except her husband or his wife has passed away.
- Because the marriage is between the light and the darkness.
2 Corinthians 6: 14
6:14. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
The light means hearing the true teaching Word and saying, doing, and thinking something according to the true teaching Word.
The darknessmeans the saying, doing, and thought are not righteous, but sinful.
The marriage will never be united if the life practice is not right, although the husband and wife have heard the true teaching Word. They may seem harmonious in unity but someday they will be separated. The light will be lifted up and the darkness will be left.
- Because the marriage is not joyful. The wine is used up.
It will happen to all men, including the servants and sons of God. Moreover, the wine will be tasteless and bitter or with the sourwine mingled with gall. There is violence in the house, and so on.
Why can the problem in marriage and children happen?Mark 9: 199:19. He answered him and said, "O faithlessgeneration, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me."
- Because there is no faithor one does not willingly hear the prophetic Word or sanctification Word.
- Because of hearing the prophetic Word without obeying it. It means there is no fruit.
Luke 8: 12-15
8:12. "Those by the waysideare the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
8:13 "But the ones on the rockare those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.
8:14 "Now the ones that fell among thornsare those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.
8:15 "But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.
Not obeying the Word may happen in these things.
- Verse 12 = 'by the wayside' = not understanding the Word because the heart is wanderingwhen the Word is preached.
- Verse 13 = 'on the rock' = hearing and obeying the Word but falling awaywhen the temptation comes. It means being the same as the unbelievers.
- Verse 14 = 'among thorns' = hearing and obeying the Word but with anxiety.
Consequently, one becomes the same as the unbelievers.
- Because of being deceived.
Matthew 17: 17
17:17. Then Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me."
Thus, being deceived means not passing through the right way.
Consequently, one cannot reach the destination.
The marriage is not joyful and does not reach the spiritual one.
For example, from among 603.550 people of Israel, only two people were not deceived.
Mark 9: 14
9:14. And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them.
The deception happens because of being around the disciples.
It means the focus is human or physical things, not the Word.
Consequently, there is problem, even the unsolvable one.
What is the solution?Mark 9: 15
9:15. Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him.
The solution is
looking at Jesusor being around Him.
The facts found in looking at Jesus are as follows.
- Looking at the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
John 1: 29
1:29. The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
There are two main kinds of the nation in the world as follows.
- Israel or God's chosen nation.
- Gentiles or the other nations.
How can we look at the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world?
John 19: 34
19:34.But one of the soldiers pierced His sidewith a spear, and immediately blood and watercame out.
Jesus has died on the cross with four wounds, two in His hands and two in His feet, in order to redeem the sins of Israel. The Gentiles get the opportunity through the pierced side or the fifth wound.
Thus, looking at the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world means looking at the pierced side of Jesus out of which the blood and water come.
The proof of looking at the side of Jesus out of which the blood and water come is repenting or stopping sinning to return to God (BLOOD) and being baptized of water to have life renewal or righteous life (WATER).
How can we finish the sin?
- If we are sinful, we must realize our sin, regret, and confess it. We must not repeat it.
- If we are right, we must forgive and forget the sin of others.
The blood of Jesus is able to remove our sin.
- Being shepherded in the house of the Lord.
John 1: 36,39
1:36.And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, "Behold the Lamb of God!"
1:39 He said to them, "Come and see." They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Himthat day (now it was about the tenth hour).
'where He was staying...' refers to the house of the Lord.
It means that we persevere in the shepherding pen or doing the the three main services to God.
Acts 2: 41-43, 46
2:41.Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
2:43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
2:46 So continuing daily with one accordin the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
The perseverance in doing the three main services to God is as follows.
- Golden Candlestick = perseverance in doing General Service.
- Table of Showbread = perseverance in doing Bible Study Service with Holy Communion.
- Golden Altar of Incense = perseverance in doing Prayer Service.
We are not shepherded to human, organization, or the building, but the true teaching Word like a branch that dwells in the True Vine.
The true teaching Word is as follows.
- The Word written in the Bible.
- It is revealed by God, namely a verse explains other verses.
- Being obeyed.
If we are shepherded to the true teaching Word, we will be sanctifiedintensively or continually and there will bemiracles.
John 15: 3
15:3. "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
We have the spiritual miracle, namely the life renewal.
Afterwards, there is no problem anymore in the marriage. All problems are solved.
A problem cannot be solved when the people keep the egoism. The husband and his wife will be united if they are renewed.
- Looking at Jesus as the King of all kings and Heavenly Bridegroom.
John 1: 45-51
1:45. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
1:46 And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."
1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!"
1:48 Nathanael said to Him, "How do You know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."
1:49 Nathanael answered and said to Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"
1:50 Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these."
1:51 And He said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."
The fact found in it is not being under the fig tree.
Nathanael must go out. He must not be under the fig tree in order to look at Jesus as the King. Leaving the fig tree will make us not enjoyable in our life anymore.
The leaves of the fig tree are used to cover the nakedness of Adam and Eve.
They refer to the self-truth. Do not keep the self-truth and you will be able to look at Jesus as the King of all kings and your marriage is united.
The meanings of the self-truth are as follows.
- The truth coming from blaming others.
Adam blamed Eve when God asked him whether he had eaten the forbidden fruit. Eve also blamed the serpent when God asked her. One will never look at Jesus as the King of all kings and Heavenly Bridegroom if he or she only looks at the mistake of others.
Job also had the self-truth until he had to get the total failure. Nevertheless, he could be restored because he returned to God.
- The truth that is not in line with the Word.
The truth according to the Word is from God.
The result of looking at Jesus, the King of all kings and Heavenly Bridegroom until we can take off the self truth is the heaven will be opened as follows.
- The blessings are poured out for our household.
Psalm 133:1-3
133:1. <<A Song of Ascents. Of David.>>Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!
133:2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.
133:3 It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing--Life forevermore.
The Lord Himself commands the blessing to come. We do not need to pursue it.
- Jesus will come down from heaven someday and we are lifted up to heaven and meet Him on the glorious clouds to be with Him forever.
The result of looking at Jesus is the solution of all problems.
Mark 9: 16
9:16. And He asked the scribes, "What are you discussing with them?"
The Lord asked '
What are you discussing with them?' in order to finish the problem.
God blesses you.
