Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As the outline, Revelation chapter eight refers to two tablets of stone.
Exodus 31:18
31:18. And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
The first two tablets of stone are from God. It refers to God's love in Jesus.
Exodus 34:1,29
34:1. And the LORD said to Moses, "Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke.
34:29. Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses' hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.
The stone of the new two tablets of stone is from the world. It refers to the hard-hearted man who is sinful, but being formed to become the same as the first one or as perfect as Jesus.
The process of forming the new two tablets of stone is as follows:
- The redemption.
Exodus 32:19-20
32:19. So it was, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing. So Moses' anger became hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands and broke themat the foot of the mountain.
32:20. Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder; and he scattered it on the water and made the children of Israel drink it.
The first two tablets of stone were brought by Moses from Mount Sinai.
The first two tablets of stone had the ten laws of God. One of them was "you shall not bow down to idol nor serve the idol", while at the foot of Mount Sinai the Israelites were worshiping the golden calf, so they must have died.
That is why the first two tablets of stone were broken, so the Israelites were not dead.
Now, it is better for Jesus to die on the cross to redeem the sinners than all men in the world perish.
Romans 3:23-24
3:23. for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
3:24. being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
All men in the world have sinned, got naked, lost the glory of God, and been destroyed since Adam and Eve sinned.
That is why we must experience the redemption by the blood of Jesus, so we are justified and saved by it.
Exodus 32:20
32:20. Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder; and he scattered it on the water and made the children of Israel drink it.
In the old days, the process of redemption happened by burning the golden calf, grinding it to powder, and scattering it on the water to be drunk.
Now, the blood of Jesus redeems us from two things as follows:
- The golden calf is burned and ground to powder. It means that the blood of Jesus redeems us from sins and the peak up to the soft sinswe often do not realize.
1 Corinthians 5:7-11
5:7. Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
5:8. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
5:9. I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people.
5:10. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.
5:11. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner--not even to eat with such a person.
We are redeemed from the sins which bind our body, soul, and spirit as follows:
- The sins binding the body, namely the 'sexually immoral'or the sins concerning marrying-giving in marriage as well as the 'drunkard'or the sins concerning eating-drinking.
- The sins binding the soul, namely the 'covetous', the 'reviler', and the 'extortioner'.
- The sin binding the spirit or the 'idolater'.
We are also redeemed from the soft sins as follows:
- Not ministering to God willfully.
Hebrews 10:25-27
10:25. not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
10:26. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
10:27. but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
Approaching the second coming of Jesus, we must more actively minister to God.
- The spiritual dryness that is covered up with fleshly joy or crowd.
They keep ministering but they hide their sins.
Exodus 32:19,6
32:19. So it was, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing. So Moses' anger became hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.
32:6. Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
- The self-truth.
1 Corinthians 7:8-9
7:8. But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am;
7:9. but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
For example, the word about remarrying- divorce is reversed.
- The sin we inherit from ancestor, including the sin of tradition that is not in line with the word.
1 Peter 1:18-19
1:18. knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
1:19. but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
- Scattering it on the water and making the children of Israel drink it. It is the same as drinking bitter water. It means that we are redeemed from the curse of sin.
Exodus 32:20
32:20. Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder; and he scattered it on the water and made the children of Israel drink it.
Galatians 3:13-14
3:13. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"),
3:14. that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Jesus drinks sour wine mingled with gall on the cross. It means that He bears all our sins up to the peak, the soft ones, and the curse.
As a result, the Gentiles are able to receive the blessing of Abraham.
The spiritual blessing is the anointing of Holy Spirit, so we can live in righteousness. We receive physical blessing and become the blessing for others.
The way to experience the redemption by the blood of Jesus is realizing our sins by the encouragement of the true teaching Word, until we can confess our sin to God (vertical) and others (horizontal). Do not sin anymore after being forgiven.
By the encouragement of the true teaching Word, we can confess to ourselves. We promise that we will not sin anymore. We live in the righteousness.
- The cutting process.
Exodus 34:1
34:1. And the LORD said to Moses, "Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke.
It happens in the Holy Place or the sheepfold. It refers to the perseverance in doing the three kinds of main service to God as follows:
- Golden Candlestick refers to perseverance in doing the General Service. We have fellowship with Holy Spirit God in His anointing and gifts.
We are returned to the image of Holy Spirit God.
- Table of Showbread refers to perseverance in doing the Bible Study Service with Holy Communion. We have fellowship with the Son of God in the teaching Word and the sacrifice of Christ.
We are returned to the image of the Son of God.
- Golden Altar of Incense refers to perseverance in doing the Prayer Service. We have fellowship with Father God in His love.
We are returned to the image of God the Father.
By what are we cut?
Hebrews 4:12-13
4:12. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
4:13. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
We are cut by the true teaching word that is sharper than any two-edged sword.
What must be cut? The hardest heart first must be cut.
Matthew 5:27-28,37
5:27. "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.'
5:28. "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
5:37. "But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
The first sharp edge sanctifiesour hard heart, so our whole life is purified up to being honest. We say yes if yes and no if no
Ezekiel 36:26
36:26. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
The second sharp edge renewsour hard heart to become meek and obedient.
Genesis 37:1-2,13
37:1. Now Jacob dwelt in the land where his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
37:2. This is the history of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And the lad was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives; and Joseph brought a bad report of them to his father.
37:13. And Israel said to Joseph, "Are not your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, I will send you to them." So he said to him, "Here I am."
Joseph is honest and obedient until the flesh does not sound anymore.
Ephesians 4:11-12
4:11. And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
4:12. for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
If we become honest and obedient, God will equip us with the ministry and the gifts of Holy Spirit, so we are used for the edifying of the body of Christ. It starts from the marriage.
- The writing process.
Exodus 34:1
34:1. And the LORD said to Moses, "Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke.
The new two tablets of stone that had been cut like the first ones would be written with the ten laws, namely the love of God.
Without love, all things will become empty, dry, in vain, dissatisfied, and not eternal, but perish forever.
God writes His love through the Holy Communion. God writes: 'I love you.' And we also write: 'I love You more than anything.'
Our position is like John who leans on Jesus' breast.
John 21:20-23
21:20. Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breastat the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?"
21:21. Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what about this man?"
21:22. Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me."
21:23. Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?"
We just feel the unchanged Jesus' heart beat.
We trust and cry to God. We stretch out our hands to Him, and He will stretch out His loving and merciful hands to us.
The results are as follows:
- God takes care of and protects us. Our life and death are God's business. He will make the best thing for our life.
The guarantee is that He is marred on the cross to make all things good in our life.
- God's merciful hands fight for us who are weak in facing too strong enemy.
God's merciful hands give the victory over our enemy. It means that He finishes all of impossible problems.
God's merciful hands give us peace, so all things become easy and light.
2 Chronicles 14:9-11
14:9. Then Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.
14:10. So Asa went out against him, and they set the troops in battle array in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
14:11. And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, "LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!"
- God's merciful hands lead us to the last sheepfold in the New Jerusalem.
Proverbs 3:26
3:26. For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.
We must be patient in the suffering to wait the time of God.
God will give beautiful and successful future in His time, and He will change us to become as perfect as Him when He comes a second time.
God blesses us.
