Speaker: Rev. YakubExodus 2:6
2:6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children."This is about God's compassion on baby Moses in previous time. Now, in the last time, He also gives us His compassion.
There are three kinds of God's compassion in New Testament as follows:
- Luke 7 --> His compassion on a dead youth in Nain
- Mark 8 --> His compassion through the breaking of bread
- Mark 1 --> His compassion on a leper
ad. 1. God's compassion to a dead youth in Nain.Luke 7:11-137:11 Now it happened, the day after, thatHe went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd.7:12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.7:13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep."The meaning of Nain is below:
- Pasture, referring to shepherding
- Pleasing place.
In short, Nain = pleasing shepherding.
Let us now make the sheepfold (three main services to the Lord) as a pleasing place to give us a real joy in our lives.
The dead youth left Nain to go to a tomb. Meaning Church that leaves shepherding will go to the tomb.
There are three practices of being Christians of tomb as follows:
- BEING UNFAITHFUL EVEN LEAVING SERVICE AND MINISTRY.
Isaiah 22: 15-16
22:15 Thus says the Lord GOD of hosts: "Go, proceed to this steward, To Shebna, who isover the house, and say:
22:16 'What have you here, and whom have you here, That you have hewn a sepulcher here, Ashe who hews himself a sepulcher on high, Who carves a tomb for himself in a rock?
One who serves and ministers God is as managing the palace of heavenly kingdom.
Being faithful in serving and ministering God, the sons of God will get the guarantee of daily life as if living in a kingdom and there is heavenly joy.
Shebna left the palace and hewed a sepulcher = seeking worldly matters until leaving service and ministry.
The consequence is below:
- Being tossed by Satan as a ball up to perdition
Isaiah 22:18
22:18 He will surely turn violently and toss you like a ball Into a large country; There you shall die, and there your glorious chariots Shall bethe shame of your master's house.
- The chance to minister is taken by others
Isaiah 22:19-21
22:19 So I will drive you out of your office, And from your position he will pull you down.
22:20 'Then it shall be in that day, That I will call My servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah;
22:21 I will clothe him with your robe And strengthen him with your belt; I will commit your responsibility into his hand. He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem And to the house of Judah.
The service and ministry are as Joseph's tunic of many colors.
Genesis 37:31-32
37:31 So they took Joseph's tunic, killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the tunic in the blood.
37:32 Then they sent the tunic of manycolors, and they brought itto their father and said, "We have found this. Do you know whether it isyour son's tunic or not?"
There are three hindrances, whose source is Satan the trinity, in ministering God as follows
- Murder = the hindrance from Satan
Genesis 37:20
37:20 "Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, 'Some wild beast has devoured him.' We shall see what will become of his dreams!"
John 8:44
8:44 "You are of yourfather the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Murder = hatred
Ministering with hatred means serving Satan.
Besides the hatred, the hindrance from Satan is also in the form of living in unrighteousness and lies, which people often do not realize.
- Empty pit = the hindrance from false prophet
Genesis 37:22,24
37:22 And Reuben said to them, "Shed no blood, butcast him into this pit which isin the wilderness, and do not lay a hand on him" --that he might deliver him out of their hands, and bring him back to his father.
37:24 Then they took him and cast him into a pit. And the pit wasempty; there wasno water in it.
2 Peter 2:17
2:17 These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
False prophet teaches falseness, not in line with the teaching we have received. They are absolutely different. Do not tolerate it although it is only a little!
- Being sold to Ishmaelites = the hindrance from antichrist
Genesis 37:27
37:27 "Come and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he isour brother andour flesh." And his brothers listened.
The sign of being sold to Ishmaelites is below:
- Leaving service and ministry in order to seek money
- Serving and ministering God in order to seek money
- Seeking money in illegal ways
- Being stingy (cannot give) and greedy
- MURMURING IN SERVICE AND MINISTRY.
Numbers 16:8-11, 31-33
16:8 Then Moses said to Korah, "Hear now, you sons of Levi:
16:9 "Is ita small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to serve them;
16:10 "and that He has brought you near to Himself, you and all your brethren, the sons of Levi, with you? And are you seeking the priesthood also?
16:11 "Therefore you and all your company aregathered together against the LORD. And what isAaron that you complain against him?"
16:31 Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them,
16:32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all theirgoods.
16:33 So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly.
Why does the murmur happen? It happens because of insisting, even when the thing insisted cannot be reached.
Gentiles are actually not worthy to serve God but now we must give thanks if we can serve Him, it is only because of His great mercy.
Physical blessings, praise and honor in service and ministry are bonuses from God.
Serving God with much insisting will make theses consequences:
- Decrease (formerly those who insist went down alive to the pit until they perished)
- There is no joy in life
Number 16:1-2
16:1 Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men;
16:2 and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown.
Those who like to murmur also like to influence others. We must be careful.
- BEING UNWILLING TO BE SHEPHERDED.
Numbers 11:4-6, 33-34
11:4 Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: "Who will give us meat to eat?
11:5 "We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;
11:6 "but now our whole being isdried up; there isnothing at all except this manna beforeour eyes!"
11:33 But while the meat wasstill between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was aroused against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.
11:34 So he called the name of that place Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving.
Manna is the bread of angel = shepherding Word, the Word which God trusts to a pastor to preach continuously in an order to the congregation.
Nevertheless, many people are bored of the manna, not receiving the shepherding Word. Consequently, they get entry to the tomb Kibroth Hattaavah.
The solution in facing the problem of being Christians of tomb is below:
- Entering into the tomb of God, i.e. water baptism.
Romans 6:4
6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The requirement to be baptized of water is being dead to sin and the right implementation is through being buried in water. As long as one has not been buried in water, he has not been baptized yet.
1 Peter 3:20-21
3:20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while theark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
The result of right water baptism is a good conscience.
The good conscience is a heart related to a dove as follows:
- Heart without any bitterness.
We have to keep our heart not to be bitter when others are in blessings or employed by God.
- Generous heart.
- By Jesus' sacrifice.
Matthew 27:3,7-8
27:3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
27:7 And they consulted together and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
27:8 Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
Previously, Jesus was willing to be sold to be crucified with thirty pieces of silver and this money was used to buy a tomb for strangers. Meaning Jesus' sacrifice gives the Gentiles a hope to be justified, sanctified, and perfected.
The way is through confessing our sins to God and men uprightly.
A good conscience is a heart which is able to confess sins.
God blesses you.
