Speaker: Rev. Mikha Sanda Toding
Jesus healed a paralytic.
Matthew 9:1-89:1. So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city.
9:2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you."
9:3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, "This Man blasphemes!"
9:4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?
9:5 "For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’?
9:6 "But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins" ––then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."
9:7 And he arose and departed to his house.
9:8 Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.
Matthew chapter 8 to10 refers to the Altar of Burnt Offering in Tabernacle. It refers to Jesus, who has died on the cross as sin offering or peace offering.
Romans 5:7-85:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus is not only a sin offering but He is also an offering to sanctify and to perfect.
Hebrews 10:1410:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
There was a paralytic lying on a bed at Jerusalem, near the temple. He was brought to Jesus.
The reason of paralysis is as follows.
- There is no peace in life, but rejection to peace offering.
Jerusalem is the City of Peace, so there is no sin can enter it.
Revelation 21:27
21:27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
One becomes paralytic when he serves and ministers God without being reconciled with God and other people from the sins he has done.
For example, Aeneas, who have been bedridden eight years and paralyzed because he had not been reconciled from the eight sins.
Acts 9:33
9:33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed.
Revelation 21:8
21:8 "But (1)the cowardly, (2)unbelieving, (3)abominable, (4)murderers, (5)sexually immoral, (6)sorcerers, (7)idolaters, and all (8)liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
The peak is in lying. One is paralyzed before God when he serves with keeping lying.
- One who is not holy.
Jerusalem is also the Holy City.
Revelation 21:10
21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
One is paralyzed when he serves and ministers without holiness and hope to God.
1 John 3:3
3:3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
He does not hope in God, but to human and physical matters such as riches, good position in office, et cetera.
For example, the paralytic who hoped in human, he was carried by four men.
Mark 2:3
2:3 Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men.
- One who is unfaithful.
Jerusalem is the City of Truth.
Zechariah 8:3
8:3 "Thus says the LORD: ‘I will return to Zion, And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, The Mountain of the LORD of hosts, The Holy Mountain.’
One who serves and ministers God but without faithfulness, only as habit, and there is no life renewal is paralyzed.
For example, a certain man who had an infirmity thirty–eight years.
John 5:2-5
5:2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.
5:3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.
5:4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.
5:5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty–eight years.
Deuteronomy 2:14
2:14 "And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the LORD had sworn to them.
Actually, what God emphasized to the house of Israel on their journey out of Egypt to Canaan for thirty eight years was obedience and faithfulness. Unfortunately, they were disobedient and unfaithful, even they left the service and ministry until there were many men of war who were consumed.
Jeremiah 7:21-24
7:21. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat meat.
7:22 "For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.
7:23 "But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’
7:24 "Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.
'Went backward and not forward' means being disobedient and unfaithful even leaving the service and ministry.
One who serves and ministers God without peace, holiness, and faithfulness will get these consequences.
- He cannot pass through Beautiful Gate.
Acts 3:1-2
3:1. Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.
3:2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;
Meaning his life is not beautiful even his future life is not beautiful also. There is no success and joy.
- He cannot move, meaning not entering the revival of building Christ’s body.
Acts 3:6
3:6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."
- He has defect, there is no perfection so he cannot be lifted up when Jesus comes a second time but he will be left and perishes.
Matthew 9:69:6 "But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins" ––then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."
The solution is arising to enter the spiritual revival.
Deuteronomy 11:1411:14 'then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.
There are two kinds of spiritual revival as follows.
- The revival of Holy Spirit at the early rain or revival in Gospel of salvation.
Ephesians 1:13
1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
Acts 2:36-38
2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"
2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Th process of entering the revival of Holy Spirit at the early rain is as follows.
- Hearing the Word of God until believing or being cut to the heart and the Word becomes faith in our heart.
- Repenting.
- Being baptized of water.
- Being baptized of Holy Spirit.
Romans 6:3-4
6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The proof of being in the revival of Holy Spirit at the early rain is new life in righteousness.
The revival of Holy Spirit at the early rain is for people who have not known Jesus yet, so they can believe in Him, repent, be baptized in water and Holy Spirit.
- The revival of Holy Spirit at the latter rain or revival in teaching Word.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4
4:3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,
4:4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
Being saved and living in righteousness, we must continue to enter the revival of Holy Spirit at the latter rain.
Acts 12:1-7
12:1. Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church.
12:2 Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
12:3 And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was during the Days of Unleavened Bread.
12:4 So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.
12:5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.
12:6 And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison.
12:7 Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shonein the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, "Arise quickly!"And his chains fell off his hands.
The light refers to the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ or teaching Word.
The angel refers to a pastor.
Revelation 1:20
1:20 "The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.
The process of entering the revival of Holy Spirit at the latter rain is through entering shepherding system. We have to be shepherded to the true teaching Wordthrough preserverance in doing three main services as follows.
- Golden Candlestick, referring to perseverance in doing General Service.
- Table of Showbread, referring to perseverance in doing Bible Study Service with Holy Communion.
- Golden Altar of Incense, referring to perseverance in doing Prayer Service.
We are sanctified by the Word sharper than any two-edged sword.
Hebrews 4:12-13
4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two–edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Mark 11:1-3
11:1. Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples;
11:2 and He said to them, "Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it.
11:3 "And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it,’ and immediately he will send it here."
What must be sanctified so that we can enter the spiritual revival?- We must be sanctified from the character of wild donkey.
Job 24:5
24:5 Indeed, like wild donkeys in the desert, They go out to their work, searching for food. The wilderness yields food for them and for their children.
The character of wild donkey is going out to their work, searching for food in the desert. Meaning seeking physical things until sacrificing the spiritual ones.
We have to be sanctified so that we can prioritize spiritual things although we have to sacrifice the physical ones.
- Being sanctified from anxiety.
Mark 11:8
11:8 And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
There are many people who spread their clothes on the road, but after Jesus passed through the road, they took the clothes again. Meaning they were not serious because of having anxiety. We have to be sanctified from the anxiety, so we can believe and entrust ourselves to God.
- Being sanctified from hypocrisy.
Mark 11:8-9
11:8 And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
11:9 Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: "Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’
Many cried “Hosanna!” but then they cried "Crucify Him". It equals to hypocrisy or pretense. It must be sanctified so we can be honest, beginning from honesty about teaching and we can be solemn in it.
Titus 2:7
2:7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,
Afterwards, we can be honest in marriage, finance, up to all matters in life.
Hebrews 13:4-5
13:4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
Being sanctified, we can minister God fervently in spirit, faithfully, and righteously.
Romans 12:11
12:11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
John 4:34
4:34 Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
Being righteous means we do the will of God, not our own will. It equals to obedience.
Being faithful means we do the ministry and finish it up to the end line, meaning until we die or God comes a second time.
The requirement of entering the revival of building Christ’s body is being in the one true teaching Word.
Exodus 4:19, 27
4:19 And the LORD said to Moses in Midian, "Go, return to Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead."
4:27 And the LORD said to Aaron, "Go into the wilderness to meet Moses." So he went and met him on the mountain of God, and kissed him.
The Word of God Moses had received in Midian was same as the one Aaron had received in Egypt. Both of them were stirred to meet on the mountain of God.
If we receive the same Word, we can enter the revival of building Christ’s body in the one true teaching Word although we are in different places. We have to bear witness about the true teaching Word that has changed our life.
The revival in teaching Word leads us to enter the revival in worship to God until we can say "Alleluia".
Exodus 4:28-31
4:28 So Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which He had commanded him.
4:29 Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.
4:30 And Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken to Moses. Then he did the signs in the sight of the people.
4:31 So the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel and that He had looked on their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.
Revelation 19:6
19:6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!
The requirement of worshiping God is as follows.
- There must be the true teaching Word.
Psalm 135:21
135:21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, Who dwells in Jerusalem! Praise the LORD!
There is teaching Word out of Zion.
If we have the true teaching Word in our heart, righteous saying and worship to God will come out of our mouth. We can cry "Alleluia" not as a slogan but a word that can result in the mercy of God to help us and renew us.
- There must be new song.
Revelation 14:3
14:3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty–four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.
The new song equals to the experience of death and resurrection. The practice is being dead to sin and living for righteousness.
1 Peter 2:24
2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness––by whose stripes you were healed.
- There is no lie in our mouth.
Revelation 14:5
14:5 And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.
The result of the spiritual revival is the stretching of the mighty hand of God to give us strength so we can be strong and of good courage.
Revelation 1:17
1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.
Being strong and of good courage means as follows.
- Not doubting the true teaching Word.
1 Corinthians 15:58
15:58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
- Not doubting in facing temptations.
James 1:6-8
1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
1:7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
1:8 he is a double–minded man, unstable in all his ways.
The Lord gives us strength to endure all temptations and He gives us way out.
- Not being deceived by the false teaching.
Acts 27:20-23
27:20 Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given up.
27:21 But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, "Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss.
27:22 "And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.
27:23 "For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve,
The proof of having the stretching of God’s mighty hand is in His Word and Holy Communion.
Acts 27:35-36, 34
27:35 And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began to eat.
27:36 Then they were all encouraged, and also took food themselves.
27:34 "Therefore I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, since not a hair will fall from the head of any of you."
We have to be related in the spiritual revival although we are weak and little as a hair, so we will not fall but our life is preserved and protected by God.
Acts 27:39
27:39 When it was day, they did not recognize the land; but they observed a bay with a beach, onto which they planned to run the ship if possible.
The Lord will give us solution of all our difficult problems.
1 Corinthians 11:28
11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
Let us now examine ourselves to confess all our weakness and sins. As a result, consuming the Holy Communion will give us strength and solution of all problems.
It continues until we can welcome Jesus’ second coming.
God blesses you.
