1 Peter 2:9
2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
The royal priesthood means the priests and kings.
A priest is a holy man who bears the ministry.
He also serves and ministers to God according to the ministry which He has entrusted.
He stands between God and the congregation to take part in the ministry of reconciliation.
Psalm 20:7,10
20:7 Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.
20:10 Save, LORD! May the King answer us when we call.
A king is one who is anointed.
He is victorious, especially over sins and hindrances.
Thus, the servants of God are said as the royal priesthood or priests and kings because God wants a servant who is holy, anointed, and always victorious over sins and hindrances. As a result, we become the house of prayer or the place of God's presence and He will answer all of our prayers.
There are at least three things which a priest or servant of God must have as follows:
- The true ordination or service and ministry to God.
- The good characteristics.
- The potential or ability from God.
Being consecrated, we are sanctified and dedicate ourselves to God.
If we have the true ordination, there will be the good characteristics and the potential from God.
Exodus 29:1
29:1 "And this is what you shall do to them to hallow them for ministering to Me as priests: Take one young bull and two rams without blemish,In Exodus 28 and 29, '
to hallow them for ministering to Me as priests' are written six times.
- Exodus 29:1
29:1 "And this is what you shall do to them to hallowthem for ministering to Me as priests: Take one young bull and two rams without blemish,
- Exodus 29:44
29:44 "So I will consecrate the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. I will also consecrateboth Aaron and his sons to minister to Me as priests.
- Exodus 28:1-2
28:1 "Now take Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as priest, Aaron and Aaron's sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
28:2 "And you shall make holy garmentsfor Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.
- Exodus 28:3
28:3 "So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments, to consecratehim, that he may minister to Me as priest.
- Exodus 28:4
28:4"And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a skillfully woven tunic, a turban, and a sash. So they shall make holy garmentsfor Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to Me as priest.
- Exodus 28:41
28:41 "So you shall put them on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him. You shall anoint them, consecratethem, and sanctify them, that they may minister to Me as priests.
The number six refers to man or flesh. It means that
the characteristics of the flesh must be sanctified as follows:
- Laziness or unfaithfulness.
Matthew 25:26,30
25:26 "But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.
25:30 'And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
- Wickedness.
The root of evil is the love of money, so one does not love God and others.
The love of money causes stinginess and greediness. The stinginess means that one cannot give to the work of God and others who are in need. The greediness means stealing the possession of God or the tithes and offerings as well as the one of others through doing the corruption, not paying the debt, and struggling to obtain the heritage.
Be careful because there is lie in the wickedness. Lying, men and God cannot touch, but only Satan can.
- Uncleanness.
It refers to the sins concerning eating-drinking such as smoking, getting drunk, and drugs abuse, as well as the ones concerning marrying-being given in marriage or the adultery between man and woman who are not a legal spouse, between man and man, between woman and woman, with animal, or to oneself, eloping, mix marriage, divorce-remarrying, and free sex.
- The bitterness of heartor murmuring, blaming others, jealousy, and hatred without a cause.
Ministering to God with the laziness, wickedness, uncleanness, and bitterness, one will only destroy the body of Christ and build Babylon, so he is cursed and destroyed forever.
Revelation 18:2
18:2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!
Matthew 25:30
25:30 'And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
Exodus 29:1
29:1 "And this is what you shall do to them to hallow them for ministering to Me as priests: Take one young bull and two rams without blemish,
"
for ministering to Me as priests" means that if we are willingly sanctified from the fleshly characteristics such as the laziness, wickedness, uncleanness, and bitterness, we will serve only to God. If we see God, we will never stumble until someday we become as perfect as He is.
Nevertheless, being without holiness or keeping the fleshly characteristics, one is not ministering to God, but doing the following things:
- Ministering to his own lifeor being the servant of his own life.
The signs are murmuring, grumbling, always insisting the right, and not doing the duty. The things which are insisted are the food, drink, praise, honor, and position.
Ministering to God, we must be full of thanksgiving.
- Ministering to menor being the servant of men.
Galatians 1:9-10
1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
It means that he only pleases the heart of men although he must sacrifice the true teaching Word.
- Ministering to moneyor being the servant of money.
Luke 16:13-14
16:13 "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
16:14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.
It means serving and ministering to God only to get money although the true teaching Word is sacrificed.
Ministering to oneself, men, and money, one will be the servant of Satan or demon-possessed like Judas Iscariot.
Jude 1:1
1:1 Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:
There will be a firm separation between Jude, the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot who becomes the servant of Satan.
Judas Iscariot served without holiness, so he became the servant of Satan.
Jude, the brother of James, served with holiness, so he became the servant of Jesus Christ.
The servant of Jesus Christ means the one who only looks at and takes the example of the Lord.
There are at least three examples as follows:
- The example of obedience.
Philippians 2:8
2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Jesus sacrificed His dignity or prestige to be baptized in the true water baptism.
Matthew 3:16
3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
Romans 6:2,4
6:2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The true water baptism means that one who has died to sin must be buried in water with Jesus and raise with Him in the new life to receive the good conscience or the obedient heart.
In Gethsemane Garden, Jesus was obedient by sacrificing His own will.
Therefore, as the servants of God, we must willingly sacrifice all things for being obedient until the flesh does not speak anymore.
We indeed must pay the price for being obedient. Jesus must give His soul, but then He gets the glory. What we sacrifice to be obedient will be replaced by glory. Not being obedient, the price which must be paid will be more expensive.
- The example of faithfulness.
2 Timothy 2:13
2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
- The example of honesty.
John 18:4-5
18:4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, "Whom are you seeking?"
18:5 They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am He." And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.
After being sanctified, the servant of God must have the obedience, faithfulness, and honesty.
When does the forming of the characteristics happen? It happens indeed when the pressures or torments happen.
After we have the characteristics of Jesus, we can always cry out "Abba, Father".
Galatians 4:6
4:6And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
If we have the holiness and good characteristics, there will be the anointing of Holy Spirit. This is the potential from God.
The functions of Holy Spirit are as follows:
- Holy Spirit gives the gifts or the miraculous abilities.
Ephesians 4:7
4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift.
- Holy Spirit gives extra power, so we can be faithful and fervent in spirit in our service and ministry to God until the end line or the second coming of Jesus.
Romans 12:11
12:11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
- Holy Spirit is able to perform miracles.
Exodus 14:15-16,21
14:15 And the LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.
14:16 "But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
14:21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
The great miracle is the life renewal from the fleshly man to the spiritual one like Jesus. Moses was hard-hearted. He cried, grumbled, doubted, and blamed God. Such thing must be changed into crying out and surrendering to God. Holy Spirit is able to help us so that we can pray with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:26
8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
The physical miracle will also happen. The thing which does not exist yet can be created and all problems are finished right in His time.
We are changed to be as glorious as Jesus is when He comes a second time. We do not stumble in words anymore, but only cry out "Alleluia" to welcome His second coming on the glorious clouds.
God blesses you.
